Thank you for sharing this with us.She was big time ,back in those days. You can still hear her music at Mexican weddings, Quinceñeras, and dances through out the U.S., Mexico and other countries,I,m sure. Her music will go on forever. Gone ,but never forgotten ❤❤
The irony of it all is how at the end of the video her waving goodbye would be the last goodbye wave to her fans. The Latino community absolutely love her still. She was so down to earth, she made her fans feel as though she was part of their families. Such a major loss to the world. Her God given talent still lives on through the love that the Latino community carry.
I was 11 years old when I saw her live here in my hometown of Midland,Tx in 1994. She was a force and still to this day! Y’all should read Chris Perez’s book “to Selena with love” it takes you into their personal lives,it is a great read!
What I really love about the reaction, was not so much about what they said , but their expressions , dancing etc as they listen to the songs.. she captivated them.
Selena she was way more of a legend then any Hollywood celebrity back then & she still is just as much of a legend in these days a lot more then every Hollywood celebrity even tho she's gone her music is still alive an speaks for its self Selena is the real legendary queen R.I.P SELENA
She got legendary status after she died. Her record sales were mediocre while alive(13 million). She had 1 good selling album while alive(amor prohibido). While alive she sold 13 million records in her over 15 year career. That's less than a million per year. Shakira sells around 5-10 million a year, so does Enrique, so did Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Luis Miguel, those are common album selling numbers in 1 year for a Latin super star. For an American singer is 20-30 million. They do it year after year til a career starts dying down. Selena did 13 million in sales over 15 years. That's plain pathetic. After her death she reached 68 million albums. Those are super star numbers. But only after her death. While alive she was at best considerable. And she can't compare to Hollywood celebrities. Don't talk crazy. Even her series wasn't a considerable success. The most successful series was Juan Gabriel. After that Telemundo wanted to make another series just as successful and they couldn't figure out who else. They thought of Selena but they didn't think she had that "IT" factor. They were right. They decided to Luis Miguel the series. It became the 4th most watched series in Spanish language. The other top 9 series are all narco related. She was OK. 68 million is good but if you compare her to other Latin super stars women she's not even top 3. And let's not even mention make artist. Julio Iglesias is #1 with over 250 million albums sales. And in English Michael Jackson has over 1,000 million album sells.
She could dance, sing, interact with tens of thousands of people at once and not break a sweat for an hour straight without the advantage of live auto-tune that didn't exist in her time. And when I say dance, I don't mean sway in one spot, she was all over that stage in 6 inch stilettos, breaking ankles before breaking ankles was a thing. Her voice has been analyzed professionally, particularly her performance of "No Me Queda Mas" at Astrodome "Live Selena" concert (to that date the largest crowd on the history of the Astrodome) and he pitch, tone, range and ability to use different speeds of vibrato, mid-note were flawless. Add to this the fact that nearly every outfit you saw her wear in this medley was designed by her. She already had two boutiques and was working on opening more across the US and in Mexico. The year she died, she had already booked a European and Asia tour and had already broken into Latin America, her largest crowd size ever being in Monterrey, Mexico, dwarfing the size of the last Astrodome performance. Her posthumous release of "Dreaming of You" and the final English language cross over paved the way for the "Latin Sound Explosion" that would happen the year following her death, where artists like Ricky Martin, Shakira, Luis Fonsi and dozens of others to cross into the English language market, using the trail she blazed. To this day, she is without equal. She had morals, class, was well spoken, kind and had such a genuine (obviously naive and too trusting) heart that was larger than life. Still the queen of Tejano and representative of tens of millions of Latinos born in the US, and tip toeing the line between our two cultures. We love Selena! It doesn't wither, it lasts forever.
We still love her forever i cant wait to see how long Yolanda lives if she is set out on parole next years cause Selenas fans never forgot how we lost a legend because of her but Jennifer lopez did a great job portraying her.
I’m from Scotland in the UK and i love Selena she was too young to die at 23 years old by her fan club president shooting her in the back. I hope Yolanda is looking over her shoulder if she’s out of jail now? Selena had everything a superstar should have and i miss her terribly. The music industry lost one of its brightest stars just as she was on the road to world domination with the crossover english album. There is a brilliant Selena biopic movie by Jennifer Lopez as Selena it’s through that movie that i discovered Selena and her music. Netflix did a series too but it was terrible i hated it. R.I.P. Selena Quintanilla Perez your still number 1 in my book. 🥇⭐️💔😭 Thanks for the reaction. Take care 😘🏴
My mom got the pleasure to meet selena when dhe was younger because my uncle was a radio station speaker and he introduced her to his brothers my uncles and mom and my mom actually has a photo of her and selena and its crazy my mom met a legend
She came up with the clothing designs for her & her band Y Los Dinos. She also managed her own fashion boutique. The drummer is her Sister Suzette & her brother AB i think played base guitar he also wrote some of her songs. Como La Flor was one of those songs.
In her "Selena" movie, she's portrayed by Jennifer Lopez, but Selena's also Mexican fans weren't fans of Puerto Rican 'J-Lo'. (v: Aztec-blood Mexicaño;)
i remember sunday mornings back in the 90s, my mom would BUMP Selena thru out the house, my sis and was like "oh shi, shes gonna make us clean the whole damn house today" dancing and cleaning the same time lol i miss those days
We see so much stuff from her we think she was a seasoned veteran. She was only 23 :(( To me she was one of those artists that would live to be larger than life (if she could make the switch she was doing to english music when she was killed she would probably reach the heights of a Madonna) Ofc she was pretty and sexy to some but she had charisma, i want to see her dance, i want to see her sing, i want to see her smile, few people have that and its always natural you cant train that
My uncle was watching a tape of one of her concerts and I asked my sister who was that and that's when she told who selena was and she told me about her death
Check out Disco Melody at the Houston Astrodome! She was one of few people that sold out the Astrodome! And she sold out the Astrodome twice! The Astrodome is one of her last performances if not the last! Y'all stay safe
Selena is a LEGEND in the Latino community. Not just for her talent, but because of her HUMBLE & loving personality. She died trying to correct the wrongs that were done to HER fans. Her murderer YolandaP was in charge of her fanbase. But she stole millions, & a lot of fans started complaining that they weren't receiving anything. When Selena noticed, she rushed to Yolanda but she was tricked. Yolanda cried her a River about being raped & wanting to die. Selena was so kindhearted that she immediately took her to the hospital. But Offcourse no proof of Rae was found. They went back to the hotel, were Yolanda said she had the fans funds. That's were Yolanda pulled out a gun & shot Selena. Selena ran all the way from the hotel room, to the reception area & collapsed. She died of blood loss, before she could make it to the hospital. Her last words were "I don't want to die". When I say that was one of THE QUIETEST day in Mexico & a lot of Latino America, I'm not joking. I was 4 & I remember for how heartbreaking it was. Kind of like when Princess Diana died.
Big loss at such an early age when she was killed by her manager for greed. She was just starting to cross over to English and has a couple great songs in English that were recorded but she died just months later before she was ever able to perform them live. Never will forget when she was killed, people were playing nothing but Selena loud in their cars and driving around with Selena flags. I don't think anyone but J-lo could've done a better job portraying her in the movie Selena. You should react to her English song, "If I could fall in love"
it is hard to listen Selena or even watch her biography film when i saw the news of her tragedy. i was nine and eleven when saw the film and only time i saw it.

Love the reaction! I would highly recommend reacting to Selena disco medley live at the astrodome 1995
What I really love about the reaction, was not so much about what they said , but their expressions , dancing etc as they listen to the songs.. she captivated them.
What a great reaction to one of the greatest losses in American music history! May she rest in peace she truly was something special!
