I was present at that concert, the first edition of the Montreal Jazz Festival. NO frills, no lights, no magics.... just PURE DELIGHT OF MUSIC !!! This is one of the best concert I ever attended. Thanks for posting, brings back very good memories
Nice one . Quite possibly the best piano guitar song out there . Gotta liveth ramsey lewis band . He looks like he was enjoying himself playing this song .
@@tomsoule1366 Hi it was truly a Magical concert! désolé de la mésentente. Sorry for the mist understanding. I wanted to underline the fact that it was just music, no bells no noting, just the musicians in their tuxedos, their instruments and the nude stage. No artificial magic, lighting or other. Just the pure musical emotion. One of the best concerts I ever attended in person !
You were so lucky to experience that! I think this is one of his most signature songs, totally unique Ramsey Lewis. I was lucky enough in the early 1970s to see him a few times at the jazz workshop in Boston, and at a small venue in Worcester, Massachusetts . The respect from the audience was palpable in both places, no talking, no interruptions, just mesmerized by the music.
Jazz pianist, three-time Grammy winner, and NEA Jazz Master Ramsey Lewis, who successfully crossed over from the Jazz charts to the Pop charts, most notably with his smash hit “The In Crowd,” died peacefully at his home in Chicago on the morning of September 12, 2022. He was 87.
Wow so cool! I love your bass playing on this song (and the other songs on side 2 of "Routes"). Do you know, did Jimmy Mack write this song especially for Ramsey in 1980? Or did Ramsey take an old Jimmy Mack song and re-do it? Thanks
I've only just learned of his passing today and I'm deeply saddened. Ramsey was such an elegant pianist. You can see the pure joy radiating from him while playing this tune. He is sadly missed RIP.
Can't get enough of this track! Everyone in their pocket, and Mr. Lewis a delight to watch and listen to any time of the day. Shout-Out to band geeks everywhere!!:)
This is the best piano playing in this present generation. I love Ramsey Lewis' YOU ARE THE REASON and BETCHA BY GOLLY WOW!!! He is the epitome of finger dexterity and note clarity both. And his smile, very casual but conveys every melody coming from his heart!!! I never get tired listening to these 2 pieces of him over and over and over again. I wish I could play my piano even just close to how he does. I don t think there will be another one like him at least in my lifetime♥️♥️♥️
He has such a great style of his own. Not wanting to pigeon-hole anyone, and not having the benefit of being exposed to this period's music, I'm incline to say his music reminds me of the laid back, happy go lucky melancholic vibe that one conjures up listening to a similar tune of that time, Mr. Bob Jame's Angela (Taxi theme). It has that special, euphoric and magical power to transport one from their current time to that special, muted and simplified time of the late 70s and early 80s profoundly affecting and uplifting the individual with each and every single note and nuanced auditory caress.
Nahh.. udah di akui yopie item klo lagu tersiksa lagi itu plagiat dari ramsey louise.. koplak niat cuma jd lagu pelengkap album tapi sama produser malah diminta jadi lagu utama dan hits… matekk dah.. so kena bahas di liputan koran sinar harapan
I could listen to this music forever! A fan of Ramsey Lewis from the 1970's and still got his Wade in the Water vinyl LP!! I want You Are The Reason played at my funeral when I'm carried out! 48-backwards tomorrow (NYE) so might not be waiting many years ! 🙂🙏
I love it, so sad that 😢I never had the opportunity to saw you playing live, I send you a hug 🫂 in the heaven, your talents continue sounding all over the world and around all the universe, I love you Ramsey Lewis!! ❤
Ma plus grosse découverte pianistique des 15 dernières années...et ce trio-magique était deja actif depuis le siècle dernier quand on y pense...un maître
OMG!!! I've been looking for this title since i was a kid! After 20 years, now i've found it! Thanks Radio High FM for giving me this title and the musician. For me, this is the best jazz instrumental i've ever heard. This is much much better than Doc by Earl Klugh, Wave by Tadao Hayashi, Superwoman by Noel Pointer, Rise by Herb Alpert etc. I have a lot of collections of the best among the best jazz, but this is what i craved so much.. Now, my collections are complete. Thank you so much Radio High and the one who uploaded this!!!
Me too .I remember seeing this on the TV many years ago and thinking what a great guitar lead run . Been trying to find it ever since. Class song with Great musicians
Gothlind! You are the reason I chose this video! I'm leaving very soon, off to my home. :You are the reason I am happy. More good times ahead! Ramsey Lewis sure plays great 'chops" on this song video, I love you! Love, Steve
WOW!! Steve! So much fun to watch this great jazz band live!! Thank you for the heart-felt dedication, too! I'll miss you a lot, but I know we'll be cuddling, loving and kissing each other again very soon!! I love you! 'Lindie
Lagu "Tersiksa Lagi" sendiri rilis sekitar tahun 1982.
Utha Likumahuwa does not plagiarized this song, he bought the rights to use it on his own version (tersiksa lagi). In this live th-cam.com/video/2SpH9tTVmkI/w-d-xo.html on minute 00:57 it showed that the creator of the song is ramsey lewis
Yeah, this is more of his 70s and 80s smooth groove rather than his earlier bop. But you just can't help tappin' your toes and smiling when he plays. No matter what period he's in.
There are many musicians in the world, but few who can transmit the joy of music as well as Ramsey Lewis.

What do you mean, "No magics"? If this isn't magic, I don't know what is.

Thank you so much for this. "You Are The Reason" has been my favorite since about 1980. I was only 13 that time.
What a passionate pianist Ramsey Lewis is. Definitely one of my favourites. Nice solo performance by Henry Johnson.

Beautiful melody! I watched Ramsey perform at Ronnie Scotts last year, what a privilege! Thanks for posting!

Sweet🎧🎤🎶🙂
Thanks you too !! :))
the coolest of the cool
Sing again by the singer name utha likumahuwa from indonesia the title "tersiksa lagi" .....thanks ramsey ...
Tersiksa lagi🙌🏻
Why doesn't the piano sound like that when I play it?
Indeed. His voicings , his style is unique and for me difficult to imitate.
I also ask that , regarding my own playing.
Recording sound even live recording for famous artist is already ajusted according to the teste of the artist and the engineer.
This is the song which was then taken perfectly similar to the song titled Tersiksa lagi 😆
R.I.P. Ramsey Lewis
