    Thank you! My favorite vintage style vornado fan stopped working out of nowhere. I took it apart before I saw this video (needed a good cleaning anyway) turns out it was the fuse in the plug. I’ve had this fan for 10 years and never noticed it! Thanks so much and God bless you as well!

    One of my devices is fitted with a flat 2 pin plug just as described in this video. It has a built-in 10A fuse. As this fuse cannot be accessed, I decided to purchase a 3 pin UK adapter and fitted this with a 5A fuse in order to protect the 10A fuse in the original plug.
    Thank you for this very important tip! 👍

    Do you have a video that shows how to get to the fuse if its encased in the plug? Not like the version you showed...

      You have to replace the plug

    This is so helpful! I thought I'd have to throw out a brand new 60 dollar fan, but now I'm just going to spend a few dollars on some new fuses :)

    It'd be helpful to inform us HOW to remove the safety fuse from the plug. Considering how small this area is, I can't seem to be able to accomplish this task. I have a pretty wide variety of tools and whatnots, and I'm stumped.

    Hello tgere, I found this video very helpful. Becoz my Honeywell turbo fan comes with exactly same two pin fused plug & as soon as I pluged it into a three pin asaptor plug ;the fuse blew .
    Later on I opened the manual & found that it has got a fast blow fuse.
    So my question is what kind of adaptor can be used along with this kind of plug ? any suggession?

      In the UK I think all plugs have fuses in them. They are made to be easily replaced though.

    A power strip with circuit breaker will NOT protect a fuse in a plug! Those things are rated around 15 Amps. It will only trip around 15 Amps or more. A 5 Amp fuse in a plug will blow first. Fuses are generally faster than circuit breakers anyway so even a 15 Amp fuse in the plug will probably blow first. Even a slow blow fuse might beat a circuit breaker.

    Thanks for the vid

    • @robertgaines-tulsa
      @robertgaines-tulsa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe, but fuses don't generally blow without a reason. The coils in the motor may have shorted. That's something to think about when you change the fuse.

    HOWEVER, HERE IS A GOLD NUGGET I PICKED UP IN THE NAVY 50 YEARS AGO: A VOM CAN SHOW GOOD, BUT IF FUSE HAS CRYSTALLIZED OR FATIGUED AND YOU TEST IT UNDER A "LOAD," IT WILL FAIL; THAT ONE DRIVES THE LAY PERSON NUTS -ex Navy Electrician.

    Having trouble finding a 5 amp fuse for my 120 volt fan power cord. When I removed old fuse it went flying who knows where. The fuse cover says 5 amp but I cannot find a fuse for power cord. Most are automotive fuses.
