All I have to do is listen and take notes from this man's lessons. Then revise and go in for lessons at college and exams, so far I'm improving daily in class and now I'm amongst the top students. All thanks to this man. Thank you so much sir. You are doing an amazing job.
Thank you so much for these videos and working so hard to get them all produced before Paper 2 , they are making such a difference to so many students.

the amount of stuff I am learning from this man is unbelievable I learn so much and this is a crucial year for me and it only makes it easier thank you so much
WOW great video i finally understand the higher part of this topic - the textbook over complicates it with a vast amount of unnecessary content! Im going into year 11 and sitting the triple sciences - higher , i was hoping you could do a video on how to deal with exam stress and getting all the content in - i have watched your revision video and that was great help.I would appreciate it - Thanks
Hi sir- in the specification it says to evaluate information around the relationship between obesity and diabetes, and make recommendations taking into account social and ethical issues. What are these social and ethical issues? Thanks
Well social issues include the fact that healthy food is sometimes more expensive than calorific convenience food so people can't always afford it. Also some people do not live near any shops where they can easily buy good quality food (these are called food deserts). An ethical issue could be is it acceptable to tell a person what they should and should not eat and whether they are overweight?
Type 2 diabetes is often linked to obesity so regulation of body weight is important. Also, exercise uses glucose by respiration, helping to regulate blood glucose levels.
I'm revisiting the topic 15 years later. I've forgot quite a number of things. I wish I had this enlightening online material back in the day. Today's students are so lucky to have you. Thank you!
C P I’m revisiting 30 years later. All I can remember of my science lessons is my crap teacher letting us watch neighbours and home and away. I have no prior knowledge of anything. Are you doing your gcse too?
Shawn i just wondering if this is true but I think it makes sense. You said that people with type 2 diabetes their body stops responding to insulin , meaning that their body is not able to store excess glucose into the storage form glycogen because the insulin is not able to trigger the liver cells and the muscles cells to store excess glucose into glycogen. So what I'm thinking is that their body will be able to respond to glucagon but the glucagon will not have an actual effect on the blood glucose concentration because there is no glycogen that will cause the excess glucose to be converted back into glucose if the blood glucose concentration falls. Is that right?.
Probably too late for OP, but anyone else reading this: Higher and triple are not the same. Triple is the harder version of all the sciences with more content, and then higher students (unlike foundation students) get even MORE content. Higher triple needs to learn the most. Foundation triple the least. Triple and combines air different timed tests and are usually separated into different classes.
Hi! Type 1 Diabetic here. Injecting insulin into the body can help reduce blood glucose (BG) levels, however it isn't a permanent solution, and other factors need to be accounted for. For example, high-fat meals like fried foods cause carbohydrates to be absorbed slower, meaning that BG levels stay higher for longer. Also, BG levels are unpredictable. You could inject the perfect amount of insulin for a meal, with all of the factors being taken into account, and somehow they'll be high
You don't get glucose solely from carbohydrates. You get it basically from any source of food, it's just carbohydrates give the most glucose. Carbs, protein, fat - it can all be converted into glucose. 100% of carbs are converted into glucose, some of protein is converted into glucose but most stored in liver, and 10% of fat is converted into glucose. I also assume that's why exercise allows us to lose fat, as the fat is converted into glucose which is required in respiration during exercise. That's how they live, to answer your question, they get their glucose from other sources.
All I have to do is listen and take notes from this man's lessons. Then revise and go in for lessons at college and exams, so far I'm improving daily in class and now I'm amongst the top students. All thanks to this man. Thank you so much sir. You are doing an amazing job.

Hi Mr Donelly,
Are we supposed to know the graphs for non-diabetes vs T1 diabetes blood glucose conc ?
In your homeostasis playlist your missing plant hormones and menstrual cycle, have these not yet been made? Appreciate the hard work.
life saver got my bio paper on wednesday

Here 25 minutes before the exam 😂
Thank you so much ❤
Sir, i got a question and it asked me people with type 2 diabetes are advised to excercise. Why?
Type 2 diabetes is often linked to obesity so regulation of body weight is important. Also, exercise uses glucose by respiration, helping to regulate blood glucose levels.
Freesciencelessons thanks.. i put that as my answer actually.. i wasn't sure so i had to ask.
Is this your job now or do you teach alongside making videos?
No I still work as a part-time teacher while making the videos.
Freesciencelessons I really appreciate the hard work you put in, thanks for making time for this

Is that right?.
Yes that's correct. In untreated type 2 diabetes that would be the case.
Thank you this was so helpful.
lets go champ
thanks
So what is the importance of regulating the blood glucose concentration?
that bowl of spag makin my hung ngl
Hi
does diabetes affect the production of the hormone glucagon as well as insulin?
anyone else watching these in year 10?
Is Triple is higher?
no
I think it is because the textbook mentions higher as triple content -i think the other content is the combined sciences.
Probably too late for OP, but anyone else reading this: Higher and triple are not the same. Hello sir, does glucagon convert the stored glycogen in muscles to glucose?
Glucagon triggers that process.

is this paper one or 2 because i swear my teacher said it was paper 1 but its in his paper 2 playlist???
Paper 2. It’s part of homeostasis and response

last min revision anyone
why dont people with diabetes go into ketosis?
2:29 just for curiosity, how long would blood glucose levels return to normal level for diabetics? or do they not return to normal level at all?
For someone with type I diabetes, it doesn't, so they require insulin injections as treatment.
Hi! Type 1 Diabetic here. Injecting insulin into the body can help reduce blood glucose (BG) levels, however it isn't a permanent solution, and other factors need to be accounted for. Why glucose is important
Bcoz it helps to release energy by respiration
is this topic 5 homeostasis?
