Frosty winter night, hot sauna, some beer and listening some metal music with few shots of ice cold ''salmari'' as we call it while chilling after sauna on a porch. Hits the spot ✨
If it's the Nordic salty liquorice it's Salmiak where the salt is ammonium chloride salt rather than sodium chloride 😉
This is meant to be served ICE COLD!
Ya
I'm a Dutch man addicted to licorice. This sounds is right up my alley
I thought you might like it. If you have any left, try it 50/50 with Bailey's, in shotglass we call it "Mummontossu" or Granny's slippers.
Finnish classic, wonderful as a shot.
Salmari is DELICIOUS. It's like candy. I sometimes make ice cream from scratch and i put this in it. Makes both taste and texture so good!
Great review 👍 It does look like what you'd be served if Sauron had you over for drinks on a Saturday night!
Haven tried this one have tried tyrisk pebber wich is nice but havet had it in over 7 years due to gjetting super drunk last time. Wana try this one
I love liquorice. Black and clear sambuca is very nice
This sounds good to me :)
How about trying Croatian Pelinkovats in the morning, sir?
I don't really drink vodka but liquorice I do like so Sounds nice.
Finland here. I love salty liquorice and I've had that liqueur quite a few times. It's good but it's better when you prepare it yourself with vodka and salmiakki candy.
Many years ago there was a (sweet) liquorice liqueur from Denmark called North Sea Oil that came in a 0.5L black miniature oil drum. It was very tasty as well but it's not around anymore unfortunately.
Hmm I don’t know if I’d be able to try this one . Maybe after a pint or 2 I would !
You reviewed the Tyrkisk peber candy two years ago. Just let a bag of those melt in plain vodka to taste and you will get a better version than any store bought concoction. We are big on liquorice in Sweden as well, I had a lot more than my fair share of "lakritsshot" in the early nineties :D
Half liter of Vodka and 75 grams of Tyrkis Pebers. Plop 'em all in the bottle and shake until all is melted.
@@buddyweiz I think you need more pebers to get the right thickness
@@MarsMountain true but it's all to own taste, more pebers means more sweetness and thickness. Lately I've been enjoying it less sweet and gloopy.
@@buddyweiz It is mostly memories from the nineties for me :) good memories most of them :) cheers!
@@buddyweiz -I have some Finnish folk I chat with on Discord- they recommended Salmiakki and Mint to me-sent off for the Salmiakki to specialist Scandinavian food and drink co. Thought I would like it as I like Pastis and Ouzo and loved it. My mad Finnish friends recommended a Mint using a recipe similar to yours. I use Extra strong mints. Finns like a good belt in a hot chocolate at night-Can honestly say it helps a 62 yr old man get to sleep!
its actually real good, drink it as a shot
That's super good! I have excatly same bottle just now in my freezer. Ice cold and from shot glass. That's almost like our national drink. 😋 It's also good with Baileys 50-50 from shot glass. Cheers from Finland.
Love your show been brewing since 1982. The only problem is sometimes when you’re talking to your guest ie the Cardiff & Newport ones having a hard time understanding them. Iam a Welshman from Caerphilly now living on Vancouver island. I think a mic would make the quality better. Iechyd da Mike
Why would anyone drink vodka at room temperature??
Love this stuff, great review 👍
Try repeating what O’Clock it is after a few of them Si! First cold beer opened got to love a Saturday! Stone the Crows!!!!!!!
I drink all different beers and I also drink jack Daniels honey whiskey and barcadi spiced with coke and I've had the drink that you're reviewing and it's really nice
I know it and I love it! 🥰
Serving suggestion: if the flavor is too much tad bit of cream makes the taste much softer, kinda like Finnish version of Bayley's Irish cream.
Try it together with a beer chaser. I think you'd like it.
this looks like the kind of drink that a 15 year old would nick from the back of their parents cupboard because they never drink it and wouldnt notice it missing😂😂
It is exactly that kind of drink.
Although people and bars have been making the drink by themselves for a long time, when the actual pre-mixed drink reviewed in the video hit the market in the 90's, the demand was huge, emptying the shelves. More importantly, it also found its way into the hands of minors in large quantities. Children in Finland (and the Nordic countries in general) eat a lot of salmiak (salty liquorice) candies, so they like the taste. The government was so shocked they ordered the product to be withdrawn from the market. It returned a couple of years later, quietly with no fanfare.
So, you are exactly correct in thinking a 15 years old would target it.
A lot of kids in Finland die from alchohol poisoning because of this drink, it tastes so good they'll drink it like juice.
This would make a great slush puppy,
I personally love licorice and cannot get enough of it, I always think its hilarious to watch people who don't like extremely strong licorice haha
At my Finnish brother in laws stag do, we played swamp football and only had this to drink until the end of the game, only then we were allowed some icy cold Koskenkorva vodka to cool down with. Finns 😂
Maybe Soraya can do something with it?
Not Mead but Sahti.. the most basic one Finlandia..
that 1 bottle will last heck of long time, well unless you like it
You sure your supposed to drink it? i mean brake fluid comes to mind 🤣 ... only kidding ill give it a go 👍
Awful drink. But better buy Koskenkorva viina and Haganol salmiakki. Then mix, the better Salmiakki kossu
It´s nice to take one shot every time you go to order some more beer in the bar. After few rounds it goes straight to the head 😁.
when i drink this ,i do the whole bottle in one sitting, ive drank 4 of these bottels this month alone lol, its the best alcohol there is, nothing is better to get drunk than this stuff
Classic!
my english friend called it weird stuff
Kippis!
Looks like crude oil 😂
Also.. I think either a drop of ribena or a drop of cassis would make that taste amazing..
@@johnheckles8239 One drink that I often like to mix with salmiakki kossu is Passoa liqueur. The combination tastes a lot like a bag of candy we have in Finland called Ässä-Mix.
