It's also important to note that the Venetians were *masters* of Engineering when it came to shipbuilding as well. Their "Arsenal" was capable of producing a warship every day, and was one of the first places to use standardized parts- being one of the largest scale pre-industrial construction sites

I was in venice twice, and it feels like walking on, not in, a museum. As soon as you leave the main shopping street, you get into tiny streets, tiny spaces, tiny places, find hidden restaurants and beautiful places. It feels old and smells old, but in a wild kind of way. It's an experience for sure. You can't possibly see all of it in a few days. So many hidden corners, so many islands. Very much to explore :)

🌹THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the Salvation of the last day that Christ brought in the second and last incarnation of His new and holy name"
(In the kingdom, the myriad of created things begin to revive and regain their life force. Due to changes in the state of the world, the borders between one land of one land and another begin to also move. I have prophesied that when land is separated from land and land joins land, this is the time I will break the nations to pieces. All will be perfected by My words. The many nations within the universe will again be divided and replaced by My kingdom, so the nations on the face of the earth will disappear forever and all will become one kingdom that worships Me; all the nations of the earth will be destroyed and cease to exist. Among the people within the universe, all who belong to the devil will be destroyed, and all who worship Satan will be thrown into My blazing fire - that is, except for those who follow the current, all will be reduced to ashes. When I punish many people, those in the religious world, to varying degrees, will return to My kingdom, overcome by My works, because they have seen the coming of the Holy One riding on a white cloud. The time has come! The final phase of My plan is about to be fulfilled. Ah, dirty old world! You will surely obey My words! You will all gain a new life according to My words-your Lord almighty will be with you! Ah, pure and unblemished new world! You will surely live again within My glory! Ah, Mount Zion! Do not be silent-I have returned in triumph! Ah, My people! How can you not be resurrected within My light? Ah, resurrected Israel! How can you not be proud because of My appointed destiny?)
      Almighty God said
In the KINGDOM, so many CREATED THINGS BEGIN to LIVE again and RECOVER their life force. Due to CHANGES in the CONDITION of the EARTH, the BOUNDARIES BETWEEN one LAND and another also STARTS to MOVE. ☀️
I have PROPHESIED that WHEN LAND is SEPARATED from LAND, and LAND JOINS LAND, this is the TIME I will CRUSH the NATIONS to PIECES. ☀️😪
At THIS TIME, I AM RENEWING ALL CREATION and will divide--redivide the ENTIRE UNIVERSE, thus the universe will be FIXED and the OLD will become NEW----this is My PLAN and these are My WORKS. When ALL the NATIONS and PEOPLE of the WORLD RETURN BEFORE MY THRONE, I WILL TAKE ALL the RICHNESS of HEAVEN and GIVE it to the human world, so that because of Me, that world will be filled with incomparable that abundance. But AS LONG AS THE OLD WORLD CONTINUES TO EXIST, I will pour out My WRATH upon its NATIONS, UNTIL MY administrative decrees are PRONOUNCED THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE, and I WILL PUNISH ANYONE WHO VIOLATES THEM. 🙏
When I turn My FACE to the UNIVERSE to SPEAK, ALL HUMANITY LISTENS to My VOICE and THEN ALL I HAVE DONE SEES the ENTIRE UNIVERSE. 🙏
Those who resist My will, that is, those who oppose Me in human works, will be subject to My chastisement. I will take the many stars of the sky and change them, and because of Me, the sun and the moon will be changed---the sky will not be the same and many things on earth will be changed. ALL will be PERFECT THROUGH My WORDS. The many NATIONS within the UNIVERSE will again be divided and REPLACED by My KINGDOM, so the NATIONS UNDER THE EARTH WILL DISAPPEAR FOREVER and ALL will be ONE KINGDOM WORSHIPING Me; ALL NATIONS ON EARTH WILL BE DESTROYED and CEASE TO EXIST. 🙏
Among the PEOPLE INSIDE THE UNIVERSE, ALL that belong to the DEVIL will be DESTROYED, and ALL SATAN WORSHIPERS will be thrown into My BURNING FIRE--that is, EXCEPT for those who FOLLOW the current, ALL will be reduced to ashes. ☀️😪
When I PUNISH many PEOPLE, those in the RELIGIOUS WORLD, in different DIMENSIONS, will RETURN to My KINGDOM, CONQUERED by My WORKS, because they have SEEN the COMING of the HOLY ONE RIDING on a WHITE CLOUD. 🙏💐
ALL PEOPLE WILL BE SEPARATED according to their OWN kind, and will RECEIVE PUNISHMENTS BELONGING to their actions. EVERYONE WHO RESISTS ME WILL BE SORRY; those who do not involve Me in their deeds on earth, they, because of the way they acquit themselves, will continue to exist on earth under the rule of My children and My people. I WILL REVEAL MYSELF to so many PEOPLE and to so many NATIONS, and with MY OWN VOICE, I WILL BE HEARD UNDER the EARTH, DECLARING the COMPLETION of My great WORK for ALL HUMANITY to SEE with their OWN EYES.
As My VOICE GROWS, I also observe the state of the universe. THROUGH My WORDS, so many CREATED THINGS are CHANGING EVERYTHING. Humanity is EXPOSED in its ORIGINAL FORM and slowly, each person is SEPARATE according to their kind, and FINDS their way unconsciously back to the womb of their family. This is very pleasing to Me. I am free from distraction and, inconspicuously, accomplishing My great work, and renewing all the myriad creations. When I CREATED the WORLD, I MADE ALL THINGS according to their kind, INCLUDING ALL THINGS of the SAME FORM as their kind.
As the END of My PLAN of REIGN APPROACHES, I WILL RESTORE the PREVIOUS STATE of CREATION; I RESTORE ALL THINGS to their ORIGINAL order, WHICH MAKES a great CHANGE in ALL THINGS, so that ALL THINGS RETURN to the ORIGIN of My PLAN. The TIME has COME!
The LAST PHASE of My PLAN is NEARLY FULFILLED. ☀️🙏
Ah, DIRTY OLD WORLD! You will definitely come under My WORDS! You will definitely LOSE VALUE according to My PLAN! Ah, the myriad things of creation! YOU will ALL RECEIVE a NEW LIFE according to My WORDS---YOUR ALMIGHTY LORD will SIGN YOU! 💐🙏
Ah, PURE and unblemished NEW WORLD! You will surely live again within My glory! Ah, MOUNT ZION!
Don't be silent----I'M BACK IN VICTORY!
From the center of creation, I survey the entire world. On earth, a new life has begun and humanity has gained a new hope. Ah, My people! How can you not argue with joy under My guidance? The lands shout for joy, the waters roar with joyous laughter! Ah, the LIVING coal ISRAEL! How can you not be proud because of My DESTINED DESTINY? Who cried? Who cried? The former ISRAEL is GONE, and the ISRAEL of TODAY has RISE, STRAIGHT and STANDING in the WORLD, and STANDING in the HEARTS of ALL MANKIND. ISRAEL TODAY WILL SURELY OBTAIN the source of EXISTENCE THROUGH My people! 🙏
Ah, abominable Egypt! Maybe you are no longer against Me? How are you able to take advantage of My mercy and try to escape My chastisement? How can you not exist within My chastisement? EVERYONE I LOVE will surely LIVE FOREVER, and EVERYONE AGAINST Me I will surely PERSECUTE FOREVER. Because I am a jealous God and I will not just FORGIVE PEOPLE for EVERYTHING they have DONE.
I will WATCH THE ENTIRE EARTH and, as I APPEAR in the EAST of the WORLD with righteousness, majesty, wrath, and chastisement, I will REVEAL MYSELF to the multitudes of mankind.
From "The WORD Appears in the Flesh". holy book
Fulfilled in (John 1:1). (Ezekiel 2:9-10). (Rev. 19:13).

There are many different university Institutions in the city, so it's safe to say there are many jobs related to them. Not only on a univerdity level, but being a normal city in itself even normal schools ecist and jobs in that field exist.
Shops selling unovsrsity books, or affordable food for students have had the possibility to open
There are many museum and art Institutions, even yearly Art Festivals, like the Biennale or Film Festival, so many jobs related to these sectors have the chance to exist
Many historical artifacts reside in the city, together with historical building in need of restoration, the city is ever-changing and jobs related to manageament of historical artifacts
Then you have the jobs connected with the transportations, both for materials for businesses or just driving the waterbuses (or even the taxis)
You also then have the various historical craftmans boutiques, like thr glass productions in Murano, or the laces in Burano, so you'd have people keeping those traditions alive. Thay, plus the many theaters in the city, providing jobs related to the handling of theater productions
Since it is a normal city there are hospitals, there are police forces, and there are normal supermarkets for every daily life occurences, all those jobs have the chance to exist
Then you'd have the restaurants, many typical ones or more new, the same for bars to spend to night
Hotels for tourist and jobs related to that, or even tourist guides in that regard
Then the black sheep of the type of jobs existing in the city, that by this point is normal, would be talking about the tourist scams, like overpriced and bad quality touristic restaurants, or like shops selling trashy contents aimed at trying to take the most money possibility from naïve tourists. That, plus people and companies buying many houses (of the already scarce ones in the market) to turn them into Over-overpriced bnbs to sell the dream to live in a house in Venice for a night or two, gatekeeping the city from people that would need those houses to live therez either for study or for work reasons (you'd have cases in a yearly basis or workers or students being kicked out from their student residences or apartments in order to rent to tourists bcs that would be more profitable). Such topic remains a big debate always live, and right noe the major and a big part of the city administration in under trial for mishandling of public properties of the city and the wild privation that has been happeninf for the past years.
I'm reading many comments of people being very happy to have visited Venice, or willing to, and my advice would be that if you do appreciate such a beautiful and frail city, to please stay in a hotel rather than a bnb, even if it is less Instagrammable as an experience,to do not support these predatory practices that have been going on in the past years (especially since the the late 2010s)

When people are homeless at disadvantage or at war, it's not like where you can just buy a piece of land and be safe and good to go. It's a tricky matter for it causes conflict and problems though there was more living space in classical times and there weren't global corporations laying claim to it all while over speculating real estate values to the point most people can never buy and own, but just rent a room or apartment or be homeless in a vehicle.

What was most amazing to me and what I remember vividly was turning a few corners and then having the awe inspiring feeling of traveling back in time. One small secret piazza, away from the touristy madness, felt as if we had transported back to the 1500s. We stood for a moment and took it all in. Then we continued, around a couple of corners and alleyways, and *poof*…just like that - we were back in the 21st century. Amazing!

The problem in Paris is that they design their plumbing the same way as Venice - all of the waste water was flushed into the Seine so it could be taken out of the city and eventually into the sea. That obviously made it hard go swimming in the river. Now they are trying to modernize the plumbing by routing it into a waste processing plant instead of the river, but that means re-doing a lot of the old plumbing which is difficult and expensive.

But it was the engineering that really blew my mind. I remember reading a plaque at St Marks Basilica that, if my memory is correct, said it required about a million timber piles! Maybe you will find this interesting: Many structures did subside, so when the rising water level became a problem, they would fill in the "ground floor" with debris and build a new story on the top of the structure. The building might be three or four stories, but they aren't the same stories that the building began with. Since the structures are straightjacketed into place by the adjoining structures, it was easy to build upward without creating unstable situations. There was a flow of ballast stones on ships going through the area, so a surplus of those could be used in the story being filled from ships taking on a lot of cargo. Archeologists have found several buried stories under buildings. The problem with this process is that historically significant buildings can't be filled and up-builded.

Thank you for an excellent video! I’ve got two experiences with Venice both involving our daughter.
    1. When our daughter was between 2 and 8 we drove from Denmark to the Lido in Italy each summer. We stayed for two weeks and at least once during our stay we would go by boat to visit Venice for a day. The first time we went our daughter was two years old and we brought her stroller not realizing that every single bridge (and hence the video there is a lot of bridges) has stairs on both sides. We did our fair share of workout that day, and a lot of tourists and locals had a good laugh at our expense… 😂
    2. When our daughter reached the age of eight we realized that she had been to Venice more times in her life than she had been to Copenhagen - our own Danish capitol, since we had visited Venice every summer since she was two years old, and only visited Copenhagen for leisure a few times during that period. 🙈🇮🇹🍝🍕🇩🇰

Finally, the coast line of Croatia as been part of the republic for almost a 1000 years , I don't think they kept it just to destroy it. A further consideration is that venitians are very much Croatians ( slaves in general) ethnically speaking: proof of it is that a lot of them have blue eyes, many are blonde too, not really Italian characteristics.

It doesn't smell great. And it's getting worse, as sea level rise means the sea barrier has to be closed more often. If Venice is going to continue to exist (and most of the world wants it to) new solutions are going to have to be developed.

One of the many amazing things about Venice is that their bus system is boats. The vaporetti are a fantastic way of seeing all around the islands of Venice, for a very small fraction of the price of a gondola ride. We hopped on one at sunset, and before we knew it, it was chugging out to Murano--what an incredible experience!
      Happy anniversary!

The simple but ingenious designs that Venice employed are rather incredible. The ingenuity it takes to design proper systems to handle the logistics of an entire city and make it all work passively without needing any sort of external power.
I hope they still have some of that ingenuity left to save their city from flooding... Their incredibly expensive and complicated movable dams certainly didn't work. I'd be interested in a video about Venice's current fitting predicament and any solutions that are being looked at.

It seems that a system to raise the level of the city is being seriously investigated by the Italians, based on filling the layers beneath the foundations with water, because they naturally contain pockets of water. A long and gentle progress.
They could save the city from water, using water itself. A circle that closes!

Ancient people had been living and building on and in lakes for thousands of years, in Europe and America. They only built in wood, so everything burned down sooner or later. Maybe some of that know-how had persisted? If anyone knew, it would have been practical men living in marshy places.
