If you are familiar with a crochet hook then this would be a great way for you to join your knitted squares. It’s fast and easy and you don’t have to cut a length of yarn before starting. You just pull up loops on either side of your work and away you go!
In this video I show you how to make a zigzag pattern by going back-and-forth with your crochet hook, pulling up a loop on each side. I actually like the look of the contrasting yarn as a design element on my blanket, but if you don’t want to see the join between your squares then you can use a similar color of yarn. This join creates a very flat and stretchy fabric with no ugly or bulky seams on the back.
Enjoy using this joining technique for your next knitted patchwork blanket.

I really liked this stitch. I like the embroidery effect, the flat seam and using crochet on a knitted piece! Easy to do once your practice a little and it’s a great finish, thank you!

I like this very much - it's nice to make a unifying feature of the join - especially if you're joining different-coloured squares. Thanks for posting!

Would you say this joining stitch is strong enough to use on a big blanket made of a very chunky yarn? I'm concerned the stitches would stretch due to the weight of the blanket.
