Herringbone Bind Off
มุมมอง 43611 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is the Bind Off method I used for my Monroe Beach Cardigan Replica and for the Starsky Cardigan Replica. It consists of a couple of rows of herringbone in the round and then the stitches are placed on one needle to make the bind off. The result is a nice braided edge. Just a note that this cuff is not at all stretchy, but it is nicely decorative.

Herringbone Cast On

This is the cast on method I used for the Monroe Beach Cardigan Replica and the Starsky Cardigan Replica. It uses waste yarn, a crochet hook and two cable needles. It’s an unusual way of casting on stitches, but it’s fun and it makes a reversible edge that is very unique.

    This is simply gorgeous! I am looking frantically for 2-color corrugated ribbing on double knitting!😅 Is it even possible to do? I have an afghan in fair isle pattern that has corrugated ribbing around edges…I want to do it double knitting so the floats don’t catch on nails & little fingers….Thank you for reading my question!

    How to get even tension when knitting continental

    • @donielleshowvaytheknitting165
      @donielleshowvaytheknitting165 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@annettefranklin158 the tension is regulated by the yarn wrapped around my pinky. There are many different ways to keep tension even, but that is my preferred method. If the yarn is really slippery, I wrap it several times. If the yarn is “sticky”, I only wrap once or not at all.

    If one were following a pattern that didn’t have that contrast stripe at the bottom, would you just knit the dark stitches with the dark yarn or would you skip that step and go right to Kitchener stitch?

    • @donielleshowvaytheknitting165
      @donielleshowvaytheknitting165 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’ll need to knit across just one side of the fabric first before using kitchener to graft. So without the contrast for your pattern, you would use the dark yarn on dark and then kitchener with the light color.

    Why are you putting the dark stitches on the two needles knitwise through the back loop and then knitting through the back loop? Couldn’t you just do the dark stitches on purlwise just like the lighter and knit normally?

    I just started your Tree of Gondor blanket and when I come to the end of the first row should I unravel the slip knot?

    • @donielleshowvaytheknitting165
      @donielleshowvaytheknitting165 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The answer to that question depends on whether you counted the beginning two strands of yarn in your slip knot as part of the count for the cast on. If you included them, then you would not slip it out, but instead use the two strands as part of your next row. If you did not include them in the cast on count, then you will need to slip it out. 😁

    What’s the Congo or whatever method you did? Why knit in the back loop to orientate? Is there a different cast on that’s correct from the start?

    • @donielleshowvaytheknitting165
      @donielleshowvaytheknitting165 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Combo knitting is basically winding the yarn in a clockwise direction when purling and a counter clockwise direction when knitting. You can do the same cast on as in the video, but wind the yarn counter clockwise for the purl stitches and it will be oriented differently.

    Any newbies watching, DO NOT COPY THIS VIDEO! SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE DOING! You must have only been knitting in total of your life for 1 hour! If that! Your very first purl stitch you did the correct way way, counter clock wise! The rest where you tried to show off, you're wrapping it clockwise, thus twisting the stitch each time! Then there's your choice of yarn to demonstrate! Why didn't you use dental floss, it's even thinner, or sewing thread to make even harder to see if that's what you were trying to do!!!!🤨🙄 So it can be seen clearer, use at least a Double Knit weight yarn!

      Sorry you didn’t enjoy the video. The way I twist the yarn is purposeful in order to allow for less movement in the yarn when holding it Continental and using combination knitting to do this double knitting technique. I apologize for the thin yarn I used. I am a professional knitter but I don’t claim to be a professional videographer.

      Why did you go on the attack at the outset? You could have brought your point across without all that drama and the insults. Everyone does the best they an with what they have, with what they know and with their particular skill set. If you didn't enjoy the video, or you felt it didn't give you what you needed to know, you could have asked a question or moved on. There are so many other tutorials, I am sure you would have found what ypu were looking for elsewhere. And if your knitting is so very outstanding and you're an expert videographer, then by all means go ahead and make your own videos and help those of us still navigating this world. Please. And I hope that those viewing are kinder to you than you have been here. Love and light to you❤

      If you have different sizes of squares or differing numbers of stitches/rows, you can ease the sewing together by pinning the two pieces together first and then you can skip a stitch here and there to make the two fit together smoothly. Hope that helps!
