Hi Patrick, I’ve done the Auckland to Hamilton twice now as it’s free for us Ak pensioners. Did the Ak to Wgtn many times as a youngster. Over nighter. They were great days for me. If I could do the Ak to Wgtn now as in afford it I’d do it in a heartbeat. Cheers.
Love the vid, you just appeared in my feed one day. Love all the info and your laconic style of presentation. The use of the term wittering was well placed, exactly how I get when tired or a bit overawed. ❤❤❤
What a wonderful compilation of your whole journey from the north to the south of New Zealand. It was truly epic and revealed so much about the country, especially the landscape and the climate. The towns all look pristine with their attractive buildings. I still think that coach journey to Queenstown was the most civilised I've ever watched! Thank you, Patrick.
You used to be able to travel from Auckland to Kaitaia, Auckland to Tauranga, Auckland to Napier and Gisbourbe, Auckland to New Plymouth. Auckland to Wellington is the lone survivor. There also used to be a train from Christchurch to Dunedin too. So the 2 left in South Island are leftovers 😊
oh on another note. the Strand use to be a EPIC railway Station.. Kinda sad to see it today.. but I suppose it was in the wrong place to accommodate the Major Rail hub.
@@PlanetPatrick way back in the late 80s Was like the this really nice Grand building.. was like 40 years ago I was there. but I do remember catching the Old trains from Henderson in West Auckland to Town. These had Reversable seats that you can move so you can sit in any direction. like the New Trains in Sydney Austrila ? Those look so Awsome. Again thanks for you're Videos.
$7.50 for 2 weetbix and milk, sure is really milking up the profits, awesome journey from Auckland to Picton via Wellington and onto Christchurch on the Coastal Pacific train👍
My mum and Dad took basicly the same trip in the Early 80s or so. AKL-CHCH Meet the Wizzard. lol and brought me back a magazine and some software for my (Dick Smith System-80) (Tandy TRS-80 Clone) want to basically do the same trip. thanks for the Video.. Man the Weetbix.. $7.50 Prob cheaper to buy from the Supermarket and have some milk and a bown in you e backpack lol

That’s a very kind comment indeed - and it’s truly a beautiful country!
I hope lots too in the upcoming videos to provide interest

It’s a shame that facility is no longer there (I don’t know the politics of it at all)
Hi I like your video
Thanks, Mark

Was this before the new flats were built (if I have that right)?
