a tip: when going for high notes don't try to force your voice instead be sure you are standing and place your hands palms facing the floor at upper belly height and when you try to hit the note push down as if you are standing in a waist height pool and trying to push a beach ball under the water. let it feel natural if this doesn't work try bending your knees slightly as you go up to the note as well.

Thanks for making a warm up video for sopranos! This might sound weird but my voice instructor tells me to put my tongue out while I’m warming up to practice getting a good amount of volume out of my singing because I am a reserved person and can’t sing very loud. Once I feel comfortable with how my voice is sounding with my tongue out I put my tongue against the back of my teeth and sing like that. This helps me get the same amount of projection and volume I get while singing with my tongue out while not looking strange. Hope this helps anyone that needs to project their voice more or get more volume~
I'm going through the same thing. Please, how did you get past it? Do you have some good tips (this one you mentioned on your comment actually works wonders for me, hey)
Ive seen an opera singer do this! I thought maybe it was just her because I’d never seen that before. She was warming up and trying to reach c# or something and extended her tongue out a few times to help with the pitch. I’m going to try this more lol.
The soprano warm up is easy enough but I need to warm up even harder on high notes before I am ready to "whistle", as my voice is pretty heavy and needs a lot of warming up to work right (all 3 or 4 octaves of it!). So I do the male tenor warm ups and warm ups for high voice which are more challenging than this gentle soprano warm up, which is great to start off with, I find. But my very first warm up to start the day will usually be alto exercises, then progress to soprano and then the really high stuff, then back down to bassey stuff to cool down. I could not start straight away on either an extremely high or extremely low note. I need to build up or down to it, I find. And be seriously " warmed up", like a few hours of exercises, including breathing exercises. Great stuff! Practice makes perfect.
This is my new go-to warmup! I’m a mezzo soprano and this is perfect for my range. Also, the first time I did this warmup I couldn’t figure out the last one but now it’s pretty easy for me, so just keep practicing!
This is the most complete and hopeful warm up on TH-cam, I love using it every time on my way to church at 7AM, tri it, you will see and hear the difference, thank you!

When you trying to figure out you voice type so you go try different warm ups but you know nothing about singing and your throat hurts and you should probably go drink some water and take a nap
@@anjaliborschel Any sort of throat pain is a signal that whatever you're doing is probably not too good for your voice. Best to drink plain water and just sing gently, softly and only do a bit at a time until your voice builds up to it. It's actually a muscle, so it needs to be trained and build up, like muscles for sports.
I used to be really high up in my head voice and over the years I got better at belting. I’m trying to get my head voice strength back. Thanks for these videos!
I agree, I'm a first soprano (and always have been in every choir/show choir I've been in) and I wasn't too fond of this warm up. Not to mention the weird intervals for some of these. I don't think the average singer, let alone soprano, would be able to accurately and gracefully hit some of these notes and intervals. I couldn't even do the last one because the intervals were so different from most warm ups that I just sat here like, "?????????????????????"
I was struggling to hit the highest notes and was wondering what was up (bc most warmups, even for sopranos, dont go THAT high) so I used my pitch app to figure out the highest note and this goes all the way to an F6............ So if you can't hit the notes I mean Don't beat yourself up hahaha Great warmup to help expand range and warm up your higher register tho :)
I saw these so I tried and I was amaze because IT IS SO HIGH (gosh) . Maybe my teacher was wrong about me being Soprano. Haha.. ( I tried, okay? I can but its hard.)
I try these exercises most days if not everyday but I give my voice rest sometimes which is important! Your voice is a muscle and muscles need rest in order to grow!
I'm making my last year of Master of opéra in Belgium and I love your exercice! They're New for me and I can easily reach my highest notes, thank you so much
will this help me become a soprano? im a contralto btw and i really want to expand my vocal range because i love musical theater and wanna be able to sing a song as “simple” as she used to be mine from waitress lol
It won't necessarily help you "become a soprano" but it well absolutely strengthen your upper register and can help expand your range, just make sure you're gentle and don't push your voice : ) (Also I love she used to be mine
You can’t ‘become a soprano.’ Your voice type is your voice type. But you can improve your range!! I have a friend who is an alto but can sing just as high as a soprano.
I took your vocal range test, and my range was C3 in low notes and C5 in the high. The table at the end of that video suggested I was a soprano, and still some of these excercises are too high for me. Another thing is that about an year back, I could sing much, much higher than I can now. Much higher. For some reason, my range has gone down a note or two, but it still makes a big difference. Not only that - sometimes I can touch certain notes and sometimes I can't. How can I increase my range? And am I actually a soprano or should I retake the test? And how should I remedy vocal inconsistencies?
As far as I've learned, vocal inconsistencies will always be a part of a vocalist's life, and the best remedy is just to warm up for a longer duration than normal. Increasing your range is kinda simple, and you can look this up as well, but with voice training, which slowly (emphasis on slowly, don't stretch your vocal chords too much!) find your comfortable range, and then improve on the notes you can already hit, try one higher/lower, maybe a half-pitch higher/lower, and focus in on that range during a vocal warm-up. Not all Sopranos can hit the same notes, and don't feel like you need to fit into the "typical" soprano range! Some people are true born sopranos, others natural altos, and some are comfortable with somewhere in the middle. If you ever notice any soreness in your throat after attempting high notes, I suggest a nice cup of tea, with one thing; honey! Honey is the only substance that truly heals vocal chords, and it's very important (this is why you might've had someone give you tea and honey when you're sick and have a raspy voice!). I wish you luck!
@@marci2735 thank you so much! I have definitely realised that warming up for longer helps me hit higher notes, and with practice I do think I can increase my range at least a little bit. Thank you so much for your advice, I will definitely remember it; especially the honey thing! :)
It sounds to be like you might be more of a mezzo soprano than a true soprano. Because (and I could totally be wrong I am a total novice) I believe sopranos can usually sing most of the 5th octave and struggle with the third, whereas a mezzo would be able to sing the third octave but tap out a little earlier in the 5th. Just an idea tho.

im a soprano but I have a lower range but can sing saprano notes. When I was twelve my aim was to sing "dont worry bout a thing" the tori kelly version. I CAN DO IT. Now my aim is to sing Angel by Halle!
I tried doing it in the octave the piano was playing and I had it until the last warmup exercise, that one got me
Thank you so much!
No problem 😉
The fact that it kept on going up… u sopranos are beasts I’ll stick to being a MEZZO soprano 🙏🏽
Haha! When you do the entire thing an octave to high! 😂😂😂
Gonna do this vocal warm up because im now part of our school choir omg
I cant lip trill ;-;
That means you arent breathing properly
Press a finger on your cheeks each and blow

THANK YOU
You are welcome 😉
Something wrong my voice I'm a soprano. I have a really high pitched voice but every time I sing that it high it stops me for some reason HELP ME I REALLY WANT TO SING BETTER
That probably means you're just not a soprano
you’re probably not a soprano
You might be a mezzo
You're probably not doing the correct way of breathing and thus have low support of your voice.
Thats probably ur break. Every soprano has one you just need lots of breath support and a feel for the note. Though if it doesnt work then ur probs a mezzo
I accidentally started singing an octave higher and I was like wtf how is this just a warm up djewpce
When I thought I was a soprano but it turns out I have to be Mariah Carey to sing this warm up
I am
The way i hit high notes is stepping on a lego
Im a soprano and some were a bit complicated but it’s a good excercise.
Now my 2 year old won’t stop screaming. Tip of the day- don’t do this in front of a toddler.
Who else got an ad talking about how TH-cam vocal videos don’t work😂
Hi, thank you for teaching us
Sopranos I don't know anything.....
I'm scarring myself
Jeongseokpark Jiminhoseok wtf
Contralto/alto here trying to expand my range.
In the future I wanna play Eliza Hamilton.
When you can go higher than this range but always have problem with lower ranges.... How I wish I could improve my lower ranges
I sing mezzo songs mainly so I feel comfortable as a mezzo but I can reach soprano notes in head voice but it’s harder in chest voice . I used to be a soprano and now I wanna be able to do that again this warmup is making me feel like bass 😂
If you guys are going into whistle register you’re singing it an octive too high besties. Follow the vocal example, not the piano for your pitches
Thank u I was going crazy following the piano
@@Chiarafffffff ofc!!
omg thank you
No... the piano has the correct octave and goes up to F6 which is usually the top note for coloratura sopranos in excercises like these (sometimes F#). If you sing it in his octave, you're not really in soprano territory :).
Girl he’s a man, so he has to sing it an octave down😂
If you’re a true soprano, the piano notes should be attainable in your range!
Wonderful
Thaaaaaaank you !
You are welcome
The dog looked at me like I was singing the song of his people 😂
POV: You're sick but you want to keep your range 😂
when you have an ear infection but still have to sing
When you’re an alto and came here to suffer
I'm just humming😉🤷🏻
I love your pfp 💜
In my choir we have 3 sopranos and 16 altos.. Fml
