I built the tear version and oh my gosh the power is ridiculous. You have to Play punishment as JD is a brick completely but PD can be used to fuse with Tesr monsters. Plus with all the lv4 monsters, you can so crazy easily go into Banshee to Flag to Corridor/Protus. Plus you can use Sragon to overlay into zombie vampire with Minerva so you can see what your opponent is playing that special Protus and make it so they can’t play.
I still have my OG lightsworn deck from when they were first released…I am so glad I didn’t throw them out (not that many of them actually get into the new deck, charge of the light brigade wasn’t out at the time either haha). Super excited to get the juiced up version of my favourite deck
Well, thank God, I am an OG player and have max rarity lightswornxD I also started playing back in 2005, so it's good to know some of us OG's are still in the game.
I've been playing Lightsworns since 2010. My decklist is lightyears ahead of anything I've seen anyone else cook up, so I'd say I have grounds to critique this heavily. Garoth? Garoth? Raiden is simply better because he can potentially give you full board from a near complete brick hand, Garoth needs a 2 card combo. Sure the draw is nice when it comes up, but it's too much of a brick to play over Raiden and the deck, when built better, already has the necessary draw power without him. Not to mention Raiden is a reliable extender by himself from grave using Weiss or Lumina, which by the way, Twilight Lumina is better, especially with the correct Bestial engine over this Horus/Centurion hubub. Definitely go for the Bestial engine with Branded Beast and Branded Regained over Horus and Centurion, it's so much smoother and potent. Slap some free bosses like Levianeer and BLS in there too while you're at it. The bestials are the most reliable way to get out Level 10 synchros like Dis Pater and Chengying, alongside your level 8 synchros and boss monsters that can be combined with something like Ringowurm. Also, 2 JD, optionally adding 1 PD. It takes a lot for judgment dragon to be a brick nowadays, and you can search them easily. Huge board breakers and/or a free Rank 8, PD for grind game if you need it. Out of maybe 200 games with my current build, I've had JD be a brick maybe 15 times, and usually in a game where the hand wasn't good enough to begin with. It's ridiculously easy to get out, and ridiculously reliable to add to hand every copy you have, even from grave if you want. I like seeing the gigachad 1 of Lightsworn Aegis because it is absolutely the correct play, but calling it mid is taking it way too far, it's practically free to use and offers potentially more than one negate, and stops spell/traps at activation whereas most cards can only do monsters. It also has the benefit of being a "Lightsworn" card which means Weiss can use it. I agree with the unfortunate inclusion of Called By in main, because this deck can only realistically play through 2 hand traps, 3 with a perfect hand, and immediately bricks to a Dshifter. It just sucks that Konami has limited it for some ungodly reason. It's practically simultaneously the best and worst card in the deck because more often than not it's just going to wind up in your graveyard clogging your mills, RIP. Talents is potentially good, but I feel like more games than not it will just get in the way of your mill effects, and it's very prone to being a dead card that helps out your opponent by clogging your hand when you should be having the turn of your life. I don't use the card in this deck because I don't think the benefit outweighs the risks. Upstart is... interesting? I don't know why you would play those when they are a +0 card at best that is more than likely going to take a mill slot from something that could actually do their job in grave. In general you want to minimize things that are useless to mill that don't give obvious and powerful advantages in hand. This is not the type of deck to use deck thinner in, as a matter of fact, I'd recommend going over 40 cards because it thins out bricks and there are just a multitude of powerful cards that have many uses both in hand and in grave. I feel like cutting the deck to 40 does it a disservice in almost every way, so useless thinner like Upstart has no place. Overall I heavily disagree with this deck and it's supporting cast. It's also missing a lot of very important one ofs like Starliege Seyfert which can search Dragonling and has a great graveyard effect. My version of Lightsworns has access to 2 FTKs and can hand rip the opponent down to 2 cards on top of just having a formidable endboard with multiple negates and interrupts. My build is on the verge of a tier 1 strategy, this one might top a locals at most. Keep looking deeper than this because the archetype offers so much more than this. Just as a freebie, I will give one of my completely unique techs here that I've never seen anyone else discover: Use 1 King Back Jack in the deck. Yes, you never ever want to draw this card, but milling it lets you rig your next mill, or gives you the knowledge that you need to find a way to shuffle your deck or draw before milling again. But that's not the reason I use this card, and it's not the unique tech I mentioned. I use Alsei, Sylvan High Protector in my extra deck because of how easy it is to make Rank 8s. When you mill King Back, you can choose the card order on the top of your deck, which means you can pick out a Charge or Solar Recharge and use Alsei to add it to your hand, or if doing it blind, you can call what you have the least of in your graveyard and either hope you're right, or get a mill if you're wrong alongside a return to deck effect if going second. Which brings me to the true use of King Back Jack. In your opponent's turn, you can banish KBJ from grave as a quick effect to mill one. If it's Lightsworn Aegis, you get to make it live immediately which unfortunately bypasses Alsei's second effect, but if it isn't, you get to potentially get a mill effect like Wulf, Weiss, Felis, then regardless of what card you milled, you get the immediate opportunity to return a card to deck using Alsei's second effect. Return to deck is one of the best forms of removal in the game, and it can even be used on your own card if you want. There are so many juicy techs like these that nobody has really discovered yet. Its honestly upsetting to see how far behind Lightsworn theorycrafting is, with so many generic and uninspired choices. The Crimson Dragon Blazar tech is inspired though, I dismissed it early into my deckbuilding because it was impossible to summon, I never thought about just making two Crimson Dragons in one turn to bring it out. Seems obvious now. One card that needs to be added to the deck is Synchro Rumble, its not only an extra layer of protection on Crimson Dragon while in the grave, it is searched for free on his summon and can facilitate synchroing him back using it's ability to revive a 7-8 dragon synchro or a tuner card. Which is also another reason to run Raiden, because it makes summoning Crimson Dragon equal 2 mills as well by reviving Raiden from grave if you didn't use him already. I've used a version of the deck in the past that could relatively easily make Trishula Zero Dragon, but the two extra deck spaces it took were replaced by the Crimson Dragon King Calamity FTK which lead to me changing some of the main deck as well because I only had 8's 10's and 12's anymore.
I know this comment is old but if you see this, would you be able to post a decklist especially post banlist as I am interested in building a lightsworn deck and you seem to obviously know a lot!
25:13 so people don’t get things mixed up if you send felis then u must activate felis as it’s a mandatory effect. Funnily enough Jesse did the correct decision if he didn’t want to activate felis by just not using dragonling, so everyone just ignore what Sam said
I never stopped playing Lightsworn Chaos. It was a tough wait all these years but worth it. The new cards are amazing. Currently use Enlightened Chaos.
Yay my fav deck is back! Thank you Jessie and Sam! I want to build Jessie’s lightsworn deck but I want to see more examples of how to play this against opponents
Seeing this makes me miss that grass looks greener. I understand why it's banned but it was a card to let mill decks like lightsworn be actually viable.
Sick video Sam. Excited to see what people cook up with this classic deck. Can't wait for the new support to hit master duel. Thanks Jesse for the profile and combos❤
2 BIG issues with this… Weis was used improperly twice. Once, when he milled the first one, he special summoned itself and was called out when he attempted to do it again later and Second, when he used the other Weis’s milled effect. He can only activate weis’s effect once per turn.
It's incredibly easy to have access to both judgement dragon and punishment dragon so don't be sad in the comments. You CAN use the new cards to search and special summon both on the same turn and go into a rank 8 so you can play both. The ratios should be a maximum of 2 judgement dragon and 1 punishment.
2JD gets played in probably 80% of my games where I'm not just completely shut down. I found myself never really using PD, but still keep him for the sake of not decking out. Might remove him any day though, feels a little too bricky, especially because I don't use Enlightenment. Both JD's just jump into your hand for free, sometimes even from grave, and it's piss easy to get 4 names in the grave for a free rank 8 or a bunch of 10/12 synchro fodder. Not to mention the board breaking effect still comes up quite often, if nothing else than burning through negates. It's also one of the few cards you can hold in hand to potentially come back from your opponent breaking your board.
Dragonling should come down once the set releases. It shouldn’t be too expensive tbh the punishment dragon only has one printing so that might cost a lil bit though
Since you can go into apolousa easily and with all the extension in the deck you could then co link with the s:p for an omni negate a banish and a bunch of apo disruptions
been using lightsworn from years... and then stopped... now I only play yugi in master duel and still using this deck... saddly is really bad, but I still playing it cuz I love it so much. I hope this cards come soon to master duel ):
Yeah my mind was blown at how bad Master Duel is when I realized how terrible their banlist and release schedule was. Having to play Lightsworns like it was still 2012 was brutal, dunno how I ever got wins with that, but it worked somehow. Just use some other dueling sim for real, Master Duel isn't worth anyone's time.
Idk dawg I played a test deck with legit PURE lightsworns with lots of names just bad lightsworns in it that could be easily swapped for hand traps etc, and got first turn Enlightenment dragon pretty damn consistently and obviously xyz minerva pops off, getting easy draw advantage and punishing my opponent for clearing my board if they let her up past first turn It feels good when the archetype functions as its intended really well
Jesse had a lot of weird takes in this for sure, but undoubtedly calling Xyz Minerva "outdated" was the most wild thing lmao It was considered the indisputable best Lightsworn card in the game until synchro Minerva and this new support, and suddenly it's "outdated"
What's the best cyberse deck you could build with just three copies each of both starter decks link strike and codebreaker, and structure decks powercode link and cyberse link?
Can you use the Dragonlings effect to special it from hand multiple times if you had multiples or does its one per turn effect thing make you only able to do that once or is counted as a summon conditon?
Lightsworn was considered one of the best decks in like 2008-2010 and fell off after. I'm probably the only person that still plays BLS Envoy in Lightsworns, partly for nostalgia, partly because I think it's still a good card.
Problem is no Lightsworn cards are good endboard cards. I usually only have a random Wulf/Felis and/or my Xyz Minerva left on field, and even then just so I can use Aegis.
We are waiting on that pure Shining Sarcophagus Deck profile. dont add anything that isn't YUGI themed.. dark dragoon is fine to add in. but no branded
Tbh I was like hmmm maybe the centurion and Horus cards aren’t that expensive anymore and shiiieeet I might have considered trying this out if buying both those engines weren’t over like $150 in lowest rarity.
??? Weiss is a Legacy of Destruction common Unless you mean reprint it to a higher rarity because why tf do we have to look at one of the best Lightsworn cards ever be a common in our blinged out decks, then I agree. But at the same time, for the overall health of the game, printing decisions like that are so much better than having Dragonling be $20, or Fiendsmith being upped to SCR when everyone needs it.
Some duelist: Lightsworn's got more support! Me: Okay...if I didn't play lightsworn the first time, and I didn't play them the last time...WHAT THE HELL MAKES YOU THINK I'M GOING TO PLAY THEM NOW?!
Lightsworn has been an engine in a bunch of pile decks years ago, it was mainly run with 3 Raiden and 3 Wulf along with the LS spells. It’s cool to see the deck running a bigger amount though, JD could be run in this build but if we’re being honest… it’s a huge brick and milling it doesn’t even do anything.

Second! I AM THE BEST YUGI!!! PROVE ME WRONG!!! ♣️♦️♠️♥️
deck list pls
Konami needs to reprint weiss asap
??? Weiss is a Legacy of Destruction common
Unless you mean reprint it to a higher rarity because why tf do we have to look at one of the best Lightsworn cards ever be a common in our blinged out decks, then I agree. But at the same time, for the overall health of the game, printing decisions like that are so much better than having Dragonling be $20, or Fiendsmith being upped to SCR when everyone needs it.
Yeah but shifter, and we’re lost
like a lot of deck
Not playing raiden or lunina or Judgment dragon makes this deck a bust unfortunately 😢
Some duelist: Lightsworn's got more support!
Me: Okay...if I didn't play lightsworn the first time, and I didn't play them the last time...WHAT THE HELL MAKES YOU THINK I'M GOING TO PLAY THEM NOW?!
This channel suppose to be team Amurai not Samurai Am you lost that S tier bet.
whats a engine to play other then Centurions?
No lumina, no raiden, no jd. This isn’t a lightsworn deck lol
Why don’t play flower cardian a classic 😂
How come he still has the S in his name
Is this on master duel?
Not yet no
@@davidfusilli1517 Do we know when they will be on Master duel?
20:40 why do they have to nib you here?
i cant be the only one that feels like that entire video was done using AI for the voices right?
Nice deck
C'mon Sam. Is this cope cause of the "Staples" you spun against SeeReax? It's okay. I'm still here. I'm still watching. Still love you, Man. Lol
