    I love my 2015 200C! It is by FAR the best bang for your buck you can get in a car these days. Stylish, powerful, tons of storage, quiet ride, modern sleek look..... And they're going for pretty damn cheap on the used market right now!

    Have been driving and loving my 2015 200C for 2+ years now and I am still madly in love!
    Especially on my long 500 mile trips to see the mom. My amazing Alpine makes the time fly and driving is smooth and so comfy. Never a back ache in this well supported and designed heated seat. I can tweak it as I go to eliminate fatigue and even my arthritic lower back is happy. No crawling out of it and having to untwist every joint, painfully, like I used to with the Subaru. Nice and snappy when I need it and the tech is easy and fun. Love starting it from my phone on those chilly Wisconsin AMs, jumping in and I'm on the way. Black, slenderizing and sleek, this is my baby. Love it now more than the day I bought it!

    I'm blown away by this car. I love the styling of it. And I love the engine and now that I've heard from you that I don't need to have the 200S in order to get the sport mode, so I can send more power the rear, I can feel better about recommending this car to my teacher.

    Steve thanks, that helped me narrow things down. I always had an issue with the lower back support of Nissan Altima which I just rented on a long trip. All the other interiors in this class didn't pop like the 200. Chrysler really stepped it up. It pulled 36.5MPG on a 800 mile road trip - plus the power when you need it. I didn't get AWD though, but it came with everything else. Impressed with the lane departure and collision warnings and adaptive cruise.
    I was worried about the electric steering and I would say it elimintated a lot of road feedback. Agree the suspension pops quick on large speed bumps, but I'm also use to driving around in SUVs most the time so it wasn't a huge departure.

    Great review! I had bought a 200C red just like this one tested 2 years ago. It's too bad it didn't sell enough for Chrysler to keep producing it. What's really too bad is Chrysler just recently put out a new code to iron out the transmission issues and it works rather nicely. I wonder if they had it coded properly in the first place if it would have sold better, even with the smallish rear seat.

      My transmission is horrible bang bang bang 1st to send 4th to 5th if I get it updated you’re saying it can be fixed ?! I really want this transmission to preform smoothly.

    Love watching your reviews, you point out faults that other reviewers avoid mentioning. In terms of this car, it's design inside and out is interesting. I am just a bit iffy in their reliability due to their past. Time will tell.

      Just picked this car up and you may be happy to know Chrysler offers a lifetime unlimited bumper to bumper warranty on the 200. and it drives great! We go the 200c with everything but awd. couldn't find one within 200 miles.

  • @76carmel
    @76carmel 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    To me, Chrysler could add comparisons to its usual competitors (Accord, Camry, Fusion, Malibu, the usual suspects). Chrysler's bosses is trying to get its brand as the volume brand instead of a luxury brand. However, with the luxury features, I could see the 200C compared with two other upscale competitors, the Lincoln MKZ and the Buick Regal. Pricewise, the 200 undercuts the Regal and MKZ.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a lot rides on the 200 for the Chrysler brand specifically. They sell 3 vehicles and 2 of them are in niche segments. So if the 200 flops...and I don't think it will...why even have Chrysler?

  • @rudfil

    Great review Steve, thanks. I am in the market for a new midsize car and I recently rented a new 2015 200c V6. I really liked the car and it's amazing powerful V6 engine. But one thing that bothered me a little was the fit and finish outside and inside. The materials were great but the gaps between doors didn't line up with the dash panel and some outside chrome trim around the windows didn't line up with each other...minor quibbles but just enough to be turned off a little. I looked at the new Hyundai Sonata and thats a good looking car also with excellent qualty with fit and finish better than the 200 but it doesn't look as daring or as distinctive as the 200 to me. Btw, hows the 200 with the I4 engine, is it quiet and smooth or rough and noisy compared to the competitors?

    As far as the Sport mode turning off Traction Control goes, as was stated in the video, the 200 is not an "always on" AWD system.I do believe that when in normal "D" driving mode, the drivetrain is put in FWD mode-- mainly to enhance that 27 MPG average you see in the video-- then distributes power accordingly when traction needs become present. When placed in "S" mode, it reverts to AWD all the time, despite the driving input from the driver. Although the 200 V6 isn't really a top drawer sports sedan, I do believe that most "enthusiasts" drivers want as little nanny help as possible like traction control while driving a little more aggressively. Doesn't seem all that scary to me. If having Traction Control off while doing spirited driving is scary to someone, then maybe they shouldn't be driving aggressively in the first place.

      iGreenTech Just picked up a Vivid Blue 200S V6 non AWD. I love it. It has the 8.4 Alpine stereo, sun roof, 19" rims. I think the rear seat room thing is a little nit-picky. I am 6' tall and don't sit close to the steering wheel. A co-worker who is about 6ft tall as well sat behind me and said he had plenty of room.

  • @Andrew8126
    @Andrew8126 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    and, unfortunately, it's not an unequivocal hit, as you captured in your assessment. I want to root for this ambitious effort, and hope that reliability problems don't sink it. I also worry about that $36k price tag at the top end. Would rather have had FCA price it lower that pile on incentives once sales don't pan out. We'll see, and thanks.

    Hey Steve how does this compare to the Fusion which chrysler benchmarked for the 200. It has to be better right?

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the Fusion very much. Is it "better?" In some ways it certainly is, but the 200 has a lot going for it, too.

    • @DevPack
      @DevPack 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply. What I mean was that the 200 should be better just because Chrysler bench marked the Fusion.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      DevPack Well, they are similar in that they both feel sportier than the mainstays and drive a bit smaller. Both have great styling. Chrysler stayed with a V6 option which is now unique and I think that could help this car's sales, especially if you can pull in this kind of fuel economy.

All you need to do with sd is put it in your phone and attach the usb chord to it. It will automatically play your music, pictures, and video if you have it. It also has built in wi fi and bluetooth so you dont even need to connect anything anymore really

    I have to say that the 200 remains unimpressive to me. Aside from the negativity though it is interesting to see the "Jaguar / Range Rover" gear selector dial and some of the other cool mod-con. I like the idea of wire guides and would like to see how they do that. We rented a 200 while our car was being repaired recently and it was one of the worst things I have ever been in or driven. Uncomfortable, poor steering, poor performance, little creativity in the cabin, no mod-con. Great review as always Steve. Still looking into that video quality issue for you.

    rented this car today, thought i would like it considering the good looks, partial leather seats, and paddle shifters. however, something is just off about this car-- i can't put my finger on it. it should be great, but somehow the finesse isn't there... it's not polished. feels like it was rushed through production almost. i currently own a ford fusion, and that car feels leaps and bounds better. all-in-all, i think this car is still just a rental car at heart. but there are definitely worse cars out there to pick up from enterprise.

      bought a 2015 c awd with 8600 miles yesterday for my gf at a bargain, ex-loaner from a dealership. The thing that is off with this car is the 9 speed automatic transmission.
      It's made to be extremely fuel efficient to compete with the turbo 4s so the gearing is very economy oriented. It has no power below 4000 rpms and it shifts like 4 gears before you hit 40 mph.
      It's an unrefined transmission that is anti sporty - but for my gf that doesn't care. It was either this specced out AWD sedan or a bare bones mitsubishi lancer or older bare bones legacy.
      These cars are the bomb, and for the price they are currently at on the market - I am extremely impressed. Would be pissed if I bought this new, the depreciation was unreal.
