Statement “Your Lithuanian wife is just gold digger” may come from a person who has own problems in finding soulmate therefore he is blaming women for being selfish (as most likely average foreigner should be more rich than average lithuanian men)

I do remember that comment (or one of their comments in case there were multiple) and funnily enough, it was a woman. Or at the very least it came from a feminine-sounding nickname. I'm 99% sure it was left under the video that explores the differences between the Lithuanian and English languages, but I just checked and couldn't find it anymore. It's either being hidden by YT or has since been deleted.
In that video, the channel owner mentions his Lithuanian wife in passing while showing a pic of her sitting on a wooden pier thingy with Trakai castle visible in the background. Which must've have been the way the commenter found out about it for the first time. The comment didn't necessarily accuse either one of them of being the gold digger as much as it was more like a general observation/lamentation. It went something like this: "Oh wow, so you're yet another foreigner living with a Lithuanian wife? This is such an Eastern European thing. Why is it never the other way around?"

@@PijusONLINEGood memory! I wonder where those comments went 🤔 at least I have you as a witness 😝
And you’re right- there were no accusations of gold digging or marriage for the purposes of emigration. Just the person making a repeated connection with marrying foreign men as an “Eastern European woman” kind of thing. And this video was just trying to unpack the possibilities of what that could possibly mean.

@Jura Chiux she has her own cleaning business, so she does that , for the most part, by herself. I help with the book-keeping and scheduling, but I work a day-job as a pharmacy tech, so, while I work more overall hours than she, her work is way more demanding physically - in the end, she offers a premium service at a premium price (meaning: her clients are fairly well-off and therefore , demanding) - I think she became addicted to the good money early on, lol, she's been doing it now for 15 years and loves it, so, bravo to her - she is her own boss, sets her own schedule, and has steady clientele - I'm very proud of her, and even more so because this whole business started as an accident - after she got her green card (she wasn't allowed to work until she got it), she just needed some short term work while she waited for her paperwork to go through at a restaurant she applied to, that turned out to be a cleaning gig - they were so thrilled with the work, they referred her to a neighbor who then did the same. It just started organically, so she was lucky! Again, I'm very proud of her.

Great video - I've actually never come across a gold digger comment living Lithuania.
Additionally from my perspective most (not all) single men from Lithuania that travel to Ireland for work tend to keep to their circle of Lithuanian friends and wouldn't really branch out to the Irish woman. But when single Lithuanian women go to Ireland for work they are much more open to the different culture, that along with their common 'forwardness' its easy to see why there are more Lithuanian woman with foreign men than the other way around.

I felt the need to add my two cents. I'm British and my missus is Lithuanian. I have always disliked how human beings are often perceived by social status, or by the country they come from. And I strongly dislike such stereotypes. I came to Lithuania to be with my other half because even though we're from different countries, we fell for one another, and that she felt closer to me than anyone else, she's my soulmate and my rock.
I'm a working class English lad, and I feel I'm the luckiest man in the world to have such a loving, caring and clever woman, a woman's intellect has always been hugely appealing to me, and I think that Lithuanians tend to be well educated in general with a work ethic that is second to none.
I haven't been a good example in terms of my adaptation here, but I can say that I speak the language, and have become familiar with the social mores, however, I still cling on to my English identity rightly or wrongly, part of me wants to be accepted here, the other half of me wonders whether I would ever be accepted here.

From the experience that I have with lithuanian men, alot of them don't have anything to offer. In terms of emotional connection ect. Another thing is that some guys like to show off how much money they have, and shallow women really latch on to that. So guys, don't be upset that a woman, whom you attracted with the help of money, stays for the money. As a man in a relationship with a Lithuanian woman for almost 10 years now, I am positive she's not with me for my money. In fact, she's been consistently earning more than me.
Another factor coming into play here is whether a person from a particular country is keen on dating their compatriots or not? I, for instance, would never consider going out with someone from my country as I find they possess some qualities that are very off-putting to me. Please, please, please bear in mind that it is a generalization and it is possible I am the problem. My partner and I have had a similar conversation several times and we just happen to see eye to eye 🙂
Based on the Lithuanian women I have met, the impression I get is that if money is not an issue for their potential partner, then it is not an issue at all.
But I acknowledge that this issue is extremely nuanced 🤔

A factor not mentioned is that it is trendy to date foreigners. People love attention and like to act exotic/be out of the norm. Guess it is a similar thing we had going with Poland in the 'LPC'. Polish became dominant and Lithuanians used Polish as it was more trendy at the time. A nation of sheep in a sense. Sounds bad but it is the truth. Even had it with the Soviets where Lithuanians pretended to be Russian to get a higher percieved status.

    • @wyrms
      @wyrms 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Your knowledge and thinking seems very shallow.
Polish language was never dominant, but it's usage and relevance was based on dealing with higher class population. It was used by dukes and other government bodies and their families due to political connections way before the commonwealth and due to family connections as for political reasons people were being married off between countries. Also, whenever Catholic church would be accepted here it brought a whole Polish speaking religious community.
Later Polish was used due to the only university that we had was started by catholic church which representatives came from Poland thus highly educated people or wannabe highly educated people spoke Polish.
And yes, obviously, people see higher class or educated people as trend setters but it's based on wanting to have a better life for yourself and your family.
That being said, being with foreigners is not trendy.
As a Lithuanian dating an American I wish my man was born here. It would make communication with family easier. It would solve so many logistic problems like where to settle down, documents, work possibilities, etc. When people from my circles like work, hobby groups, friend-of-a-friend groups, extended family ask me about my relationship I feel like in their eyes my relationship is not as valid or future-oriented because he is a foreigner.
Also, if it was trendy maybe we would have a chance to have friends that were in the same situation and feel less alone, but I do not.

Explanation why there are so many Lithuanian women married to foreigners is quite easy. Mostly they met abroad where are a lot of Lithuanian emigrants, like England, Germany, USA etc. For Lithuanian woman it's not difficult to find foreign man because those men are searching for wifes from east. Because they are more attractive, more loyal, don't choose career over the family, don't hesitate to make house work, cook better etc. But to marry foreign woman for Lithuanian man is almost impossible. Emigrant men aren't considered equal to locals. At best Lithuanian man could find other emigrant woman abroad.
What about gold diggers - yes, there are plenty of them. But what I call gold diggers is type of girls who met foreigner, uses him for restaurants, attractions, travel, gifts and when it's getting more serious - she brake up with him and find another victim. Often they have more than one boyfriend at the same time.
When a foreign man comes to Lithuania it's very easy for him to find a girlfriend or a wife here because many girls will choose foreigner instead of Lithuanian. In some cases it's because foreigners are more open, more extraverts, more like to travel. In some cases it's because they has less problems with alcohol. In some cases it's because she wants to escape Lithuania and foreign man is her chance to do it. In some cases it's just because all Lithuanians are used to that everything what's imported is better than local :) And off course in most cases it's because foreign men has higher income than locals. But would you call her gold digger if she don't want to take his money and run away, but just choosing a better life option?
If you are local around 30 years or older, working for minimal wage, living with parents, driving diesel shitbox, drinking till passing out every Friday and Saturday - don't blame the girl you like that she chose foreigner instead of you.

I wonder... When you and your Lithuanian wife are going to have children (or do you have them already? Idk...), are they going to be more Lithuanian, or more Canadian?

Can you be more specific? Are you thinking more about language? Or more about cultural practices and traditions?

@@LithuaniaExplained Hate to say this but sadly, I think Lithuanian society may treat your kids as Foreigners rather than Lithuanians because in Lithuanian society, half-Lithuanians (like me) with Lithuanian moms/Foreign dads are seen more as Foreigners than Lithuanians while the other way around are seen as Lithuanians. Thus most Lithuanian nationalists are solely blame on Lithuanian women for destroying their Lithuanianess by having kids with Foreign/non-White men, because it's even considering "Death to Nation" (not my words, it's from LT nationalists' words) while Lithuania has population of less than 3 million and population keeps declining.

Knowing you, I know the answer is no.
But that brings up a question: in brief, how do Lithuanians see non-whites? I will assume most Lithuanian that marry foreigners have a European-looking spouse.

I think it honestly depends on the environment a person has been brought up in. If they grew up in an urban environment, they'd likely have no problems marrying someone of a different race. Then again, Lithuanians are more likely to emigrate to another European country where statistically they would be more likely to fall in love with someone, as you said, who looks European
