I have heard it said many times that the secret of good comedy is timing. Jack Benny is the best example of this I can think of. I've seen Groucho more often in movies so it's not quite as easy to judge but he and Jack were two of America's best ever comedians.

I love the old Lucky Strike commercials. Very clever and well produced - and it's funny I can watch the commercials as entertainment and I have no desire to smoke at all.

Groucho was ahead of my time but I did get to see his shows on reruns. Without a doubt the two BIGGEST comedy greats were Jack Benny and Groucho. Didnt need adult cross the line humor because they were that good. Comedians of today cant touch the bottomof the shoes of these two! Even the cars were better looking and the women had real beauty and class! It was horrible what happened to Groucho in his last years. That woman he was with should have been put into stocks out in the town square and everyone given rotten eggs to throw! She was indeed the belly of the snake! Jack did his show in Studio 33 at CBS Television City in Hollywood (the Bob Barker Studio). I've been in this studio four times.

Groucho's famous leering, 'crouching walk'', came about when he saw Lon Chaney as the "Hunchback of Notre Dame", in 1923. He simply copied it.
