Sorin, I like your videos, and I learn a lot from them. I also like your shortcuts and brute force methods, and that haters is just there for pisses you off. Ignore them. One question, that psu is fixed by replacing shorted mosfet. But in many cases shorted mosfet also blow PWM controller. How we can diagnose damaged pwm controller that drive switching MOSFET. One person tell me but I never tried to test that method. Method is this. We take some PSU for repair, remove shorted mosfet and come to Vcc and ground of PWM controller with regulated power supply (check in datasheet of pwm ic which one pin is Vcc and which one is ground and what voltage need to be). Then with osciloscope test the output of pwm ic. And if we see pulses on osciloscope we know that pwm ic is good. What you think of that method, and is there something different easier method? Boost FET shorted. Saw that many times in power supplies. Good it didn't short gate to drain. When that happens it usually kills the control IC. Nice work!

If you don’t know please take note “ do not touch the large reservoir caps they can be charged upto 400 v or more it’s enough to stop your heart and can be fatal” and be careful when feeling around the back of the board too I have had a shock of a board that I had in a box for about a month or more As for the fuse if you use a piece of wire like that if it blows the skid mark it leaves will have metals in it and can cause more damage
the best thing ive learned on electronics and its beautifull its the absolute maximum rating law ,, when salvaging parts , we can ALWAYS use More higher rated parts than removed ones

Good video, but i would use a bigger soldering iron especially for desoldering the heatsink. Dont just cut traces, desolder the component, it doesnt look good brgds

I have an LG 55UM6910PUC it just shows a blue/Green screen. When it first happened there was audio and you could switch channels but no picture. Now there is no audio so I can't tell if the channels are changing with the Remote. When it first starts you hear the startup sound but the screen just goes to blue/green.

My lg tv does not powers on. When i flick the wall socket switch ON, the standby Red light comes on goes off comes on goes off and then keeps off. And the television doesn't respond to remote or tv buttons. What could be wrong?

Hi, What about when you have a LCD TFT monitor screen whose backlight turns on for about 2-3 s then it shuts off ? 🤔😞 How do you fix that ? The image is seen on the LCD if I shine on it with my pocket LED flashlight. I replaced a couple of electrolytic capacitors that were bulged or leaked. What to check next ? 😖 I do have the standby voltage (5,5 V) on the connector (that leads to the logic board) as well as 3,4 V. All 4 CCFL bulbs are fine. Thanks ! Best Regards,

My laptop was not turning on and also my adapter was blinking then I tried mentioned methods in lenovo forums I removed battery, removed Cmos connector, then held power button for one minute and then without connecting battery provided a direct power to laptop, it blinked for But it blinked for a second and then went dead. Then on youtube a guy showed a step "to remove keyboard connector flex and then turning it on by novo switch and it worked. So now keyboard is dead but laptop is working. Is there any way to solve the issue Kindly help
HELP? Ya you and thousands of others that are too lazy or not educated enough to figure it out yourself. Then bring it to a repair shop and pay to have it repaired instead of asking for free help and then when it does not work talk bad about him.

I've actually been in contact with the person who posted the video and couldn't find the step by step video posted many years ago. I do have the correct parts and searched for the hard to find video. funny you grab the same board and the same mosfet is missing. i played with tv and vcr repairs 30 years ago and inevitably found that common failures in the same model were well ....... quite common. save a few cents over thousands of sets................. or just plain bad engineering.

instead of fuse, I put in a 100w 240v bulb, and start repairing the inverter . when the bulb is lit, there is a short circuit on the first inverter.

yea, that guy when he showed us the tv working, he was dangerously close to the tv boards almost touching the live voltage.

Why cutting a track and the rectifier pin? Why you getting out the rectifier out and testing it using diode mode and doing the same to the mosfet?

To be honest most repairs don't need a scope
5A , 0.07V = 0.35W on a huge mosfet, so it's not hot. Usually the MOSFETs break because of a bad electrolytic caps.

Use other mosfet leg to bridge (extra resistance) that will be cracked over time, even with heat sink if no new thermal paste
