Polls aren't a fairytale to be believed or not, they're science. In science there's always a probability that you're wrong. There is a chance that these polls are wrong, but that isn't the same thing as polling in general being invalid. It's a random sampling of people, and sometimes that random sampling will accurately parallel the sentiment of the broader populace, and sometimes it'll over sample some populations and under sample others, skewing results. This is why there are margins of error listed on polls, but even those don't tell the whole story...
I'm really trying not to go too technical here, because I don't know your level of familiarity with statistics. Essentially the greater the discrepancy from the results of the poll, the less likely it is to happen. I hope that makes sense. I know you weren't asking to be lectured, but statements like "I don't believe in polls" can do real damage if people start to believe that nothing matters and everything is fake.

Literally the point of polls is to get an approximation of what people are feeling right now. Key word is approximation. When pollsters list the margin of error, 3.1% on the approval question, that means that there is a 68% chance that the actual approval/disapproval numbers are within 3.1% of the shown value. In other words, the remaining 32% would be outside of those values, or 16% chance that more than 42% of people approve, and a 16% chance that fewer than 36% approve. Sure people vote, but polls predict how they will. Right now, they say people don't like Biden.

Under Trump, 70% of people lived paycheck to paycheck before the pandemic, today that number is 63%. You can't blame a global crisis on the President who just happened to be in power at the time.

The way questions are phrased and the people asked have a lot of of effects on the poll results.
This was the question exactly as it was phrased in a NYTimes/Siena survey that seemed to suggest similar voter ambivalence toward Biden: “Thinking about the upcoming presidential election in 2024, if the election were held today, who would you vote for if the candidates were Joe Biden, the Democrat, and Donald Trump, the Republican?”

People saved their stimulus because unless you were Amazon, you weren’t open to receive business. Things got even more cheap, less demand. Then things started opening up, people spent their stimulus, creating even more of a demand because people had money they didn’t have before. Then people went back to work and gas demand went up. Higher demand, higher prices.
Business after Covid was very good, people were spending, and prices were higher but people were buying because of stimulus. Yes Biden was late in acting, but do you think Trump would have acted sooner himself at a time where his businesses were making money? I mean really, if you all love Trump for his business sense, then acknowledge him for what he is, a business owner who wants to make money. His businesses will always come first before the well being of the general population. Sometimes that will be a benefit to you, sometimes it won’t.

I think Biden was the right person for the for this time. And I think he is actually overall handled the presidency very well with especially the horrible hand he was dealt to begin with and he has kept the economy steadying as we improved and rebounded faster than any of the other G7 countries. In places like Hungary the inflation rate is around 20% and we are only around 3%. He has also passed some great legislation and bills; the chips act so we can start making semiconductors here instead of relying upon China, they say the Afghanistan withdrawal was horrible but he was able to do 770 planes and over 225,000 people in a period of two weeks without a shot being fired by the Taliban because he's not blabbing in front of a reporter about his plans and what he's going to do and how it's going to work out awesome he's doing real negotiating behind the scenes with other world leaders. He has been handed a mess and Americans seem to forget we just went through a once-in-a-century pandemic and it's going to take time to recover, Americans are way too used to being super comfortable and having things super convenient so they don't realize that we are actually doing well right now. People also tend to forget that Biden was the one in the Obama era who was in charge of the economic recovery in 2008 when Republicans had messed up once again and Democrats came in to clean up the mess and Biden didn't do a perfect job but it was a good economy when it was handed to Trump who then started crashing and adding 6 trillion to the deficit. I think people also seem to get and blamed it on confusion that he has a stutter, so his speech isn't always perfect and he is older but he's definitely much more cognitively sound and aware and has a monumentally higher emotional intelligence than Trump
