Six decades on they were wrong on everything, especially economic diversification, export development, employment, the nature of poverty eradication, and local development of manufacturing. Those forces who rule want freedom and rights for themselves but not for others. Be patient. Trust the human mind, it is the greatest source of power. Use it constructively. One lesson is to organize better, mobilise more aggressively, and seek out the best and brightest among the young to become leaders, to remove those who make these kinds of intolerant decisions and who would be obstacles to the future. 3. should remember that a practical strength of African youth is their overwhelming numbers. In the Book of Ecclesiastes it is written, that '...for everything there is a season....
The simple translation is that nothing lasts forever because change is inevitable. People in power always want to remain in power indefinitely regardless of whether they can bring progress.
Therefore, the hundreds of millions of young people in Africa:
1. should understand that all great causes have setbacks because there will be opposition. Those who think they will be in power forever misunderstand Ecclesiastes.
2. should understand that setbacks also provide lessons. Notice that the same forces who undermined African integration during the 1960’s and 1970’s were political groups and factions. Six decades on they were wrong on everything, especially economic diversification, export development, employment, the nature of poverty eradication, and local development of manufacturing.
Those forces who rule want freedom and rights for themselves but not for others.
Be patient. Trust the human mind, it is the greatest source of power. Use it constructively.
One lesson is to organize better, mobilise more aggressively, and seek out the best and brightest among the young to become leaders, to remove those who make these kinds of intolerant decisions and who would be obstacles to the future.
3. should remember that a practical strength of African youth is their overwhelming numbers. Therefore, organise them to vote, to remove those who do not lead, and in their place elect those who will lead for the next three decades, where all critical changes could be made and cemented.
