    Burt Reynolds facial expressions and body language with comedy are impeccable. Also in Deliverance and The Longest Yard he flat out gives good, believable dramatic performances. He always had that macho animosity chip on his shoulder, but then again what good leading man doesn’t. Smoky and the Bandit as a kid I just loved it. Also Hooper. Laughed so hard. He gave us a lot. RIP

    Had an experience that left me dumbfounded in late 1977. As a Minister and friend that cofounded our small Church in Atlanta, we were looking for another residence in the early stages of being incorporated, so we made an appointment at this one beautiful house, not far from Peachtree Street. So we knocked on the door and when we entered, there were Burt, Dom and Farrah F. all sitting together in the front of what, I guess was the kitchen dining room. I still think about all the things I would have liked to say, but nothing came out...except the apology that this was not a good time to talk about renting the house..

    There's a scene in Deliverance where Burt's character Lewis has a broken leg, they're being stalked by mountain men, and Jon Voight's character Ed is asking Lewis what are they going to do? Burt as Lewis, through gritted teeth snarls, "Now you get to play the game!" Goosebumps every time. He just nailed it. Great actor and a very thoughtful man. RIP Burt Reynolds.

      Just watched the movie for the first time last month. His performance exceeded all expectations. It was so refreshing to see the tough man agonize in pain. He nailed it. The reality of having a broken leg in the woods, the machismo disappears and fear and pain set in and he just so expertly nailed it.

    What a beaut guy, a man's man to men, pure catnip to women and an outstanding raconteur in the most appealing way. We grew up watching Burt Reynolds films where there was no bigger Star at the time, in today's terms he was probably the Brad Pitt of the day ( world's #1 actor 5 years running ) but still had this rugged humble swagger that was downright cool.. #thanksburtRIP

      I've read two of his autobiographies. I believe he was happy with the recognition he got. He admitted, without remorse that he took the work that was "the most fun." I think he was happy with that

    • @coldwinter5710
      @coldwinter5710 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@rcalabais I might have to respectfully disagree with you Roy. I've also read both his books, which were fantastic! I do agree he sought out the fun roles, he did them so well & enjoyed them to the fullest. However, I do believe he regrets not taking on more serious roles. He did not receive enough credit for the serious roles he did do & I believe this hurt him deeply, so he shied away from pushing himself as an actor for many years. I do believe regrets this, as he left a lot great work on the table, so to speak. He actually shined the brightest, as an actor, in those dramatic performances, so it's very sad we don't have more of them to enjoy. He is surely missed! But the great entertaining work he did do in films & TV, all his fun interviews we have access to & both his books, will live on forever! ❤

      I remember when Burt Reynolds had a house in Loganville GA. I guess he sold the house and they had an estate sale. My mom bought Burt Reynolds bar stools and she still has them. He was a big deal, especially in the 70's. They filmed some of the movie Smokey and Bandit in Redan GA. The part where they're having the funeral...across the street from the school is where my grandparent's lived when I was born. I heard that when they filmed the part when the Trans am jumps the dugout and they land in a ball field full of kids was also filmed in Redan behind that same school. My family and I lived in Stone Mountain GA. at the time which was just the next town over from Redan. I still love that movie and now my grandkids love it too.

    If you're interested about Hollywood stories from back in the day, this interview is a great place to spend some time. Burt Reynolds is a marvelous storyteller and super generous in sharing the limelight.
    In fact, I didn't know much about him until this video. Sure, I'd seen Deliverance. But I was too young at the time to be anything but scared by it. When his spread in Cosmopolitan hit the public, I was old enough to be curious, but not much else. So I knew him mostly by the Smokey and the Bandit stuff, which didn't showcase his actual depth as a person and, apparently, as an actor. I'm off to research some of his movie history. Enjoy the interview!

    Burt loved to keep saying he was born in the south.. he wasn't.. He was born in Michigan.. Finally toward end of his life, he admitted that

    • @sparky6086
      @sparky6086 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wonder, if Burt's family were originally from the South but like many, went to Michigan for work in the auto industry, where Burt was born, then they moved back to the South? Burt said, that when they moved to Florida, when he was maybe 5, they stopped overnight in Waycross, GA, and the town name somehow stuck in his mind, so when people asked him, where he was from, he said, "Waycross, GA". I suppose, that he wanted to fit in and probably thought, if the other kids knew, he was a "Yankee", he might be an outcast. His Dad was the police chief in their town in Florida and supposedly was a the model for Sheriff Buford T Justice from "Smokey & the Bandit", who was a stereotypical southern sheriff, so it makes me think, that maybe Burt's dad was originally from the South & was in Michigan, when Burt was born? ...A curiosity.
