    The Tahquitz Peak via Devil’s Slide Trail hike is one of the most popular hikes in the San Jacinto area for a reason. The scenery and views are incredible, the trails are in excellent condition and are well-marked, and the summit includes a visit to the highest fire lookout in San Bernardino National Forest at 8,846 feet. Because of its popularity, there are times when you need to apply for a permit and other times that you don’t. I’ll explain it all in the guide.

    I really appreciate all your videos. It helps out a lot and help me decide or find more trails. This one is 2 hours away from me. But I’m willing to make the drive. I use to always put off driving for so long just to get to a trail. For about a year I put off going to big horn mine and then it burned down with the bridge fire. Now I’ll never be able to have that experience. You live and you learn, I suppose. Don’t put off things you can do now cause you never know what can happen

    Awesome hike! I did this one Oct 2017, and the willows, oaks, and gooseberries/currants were lit up in fall color along Devil's Slide! Fall is the best time for this one!

    It would be nice if you comment about the time and temperature when you do the hikes. That will give me an clue of when to go andnot to worry about being overheated.

    • @Hikingguy
      @Hikingguy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, as a general rule, I'll start every hike at sunrise. I'll hike the mountains in the summer, the desert hikes in the winter. Will try to incorporate that info into future videos though.

    That does look like a great hike! I think I will actually give it a try before the end of the year. Curious if you have any suggestions on great, relatively safe places to snowshoe in the winter months? I like Pinos in Frazier park, but would love to find some other options.

    • @Hikingguy
      @Hikingguy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, yea it's a fun one, good for the fall too. I don't have snowshoe recommendations unfortunately. After too many winters hiking and camping in the North East, I generally avoid the snow now that I'm living in cushy SoCal. Might get out a few times this winter and if so, will share any good spots.

      There were some small streams flowing on Devil's Slide Trail a few weeks ago. Check this really great site out for the status of trails, water, etc. in San J: sanjacjon.com
