So they probably changed the rules after to not allow it to happen, somehow. Nah, last olympic for speed bike sprint (idk the actual race name). One dude use this technique, England athlete iirc. But the lead(people at the very front) didn't even try to catch up at all, he from Australia. Not like this speed skate video where they somehow catch up and trying. My country racer get number 2 despite this sabotage, and the fastest racer 3rd. This Aussie dont even get medals, not even a good racer. But the audacity to pulled that off, it's like they collaborating.
@MilkTea26 Ya, that's what I thought. That's my point, so they weren't just settling for 2nd place, they were genuinely just confused, thinking they were battling for first.
I love it. Speed skating is so hard because of the chaos that ensues in the final lap and she just took that out of the occasion. I wish this was done more often. It’s called speed skating not let’s coast until the final lap

I'm a speed skater and this strategy really depends on how long your race is. I'm going to say this is a 15-20 laps. Medium. Try this in a sprint, and you would lap anyone, if you did, you're in the wrong division.
@kenho-wr5ul2rh7m Interesting, it might be an ice speed skating thing, bc on roller skates the lap sizes are a lot bigger. Like 9 laps is equal to a 5k on one of our outdoor tracks
