great video! really important information. we got stuck in a deep water channel with an aircraft carrier coming in. We tried everything, but couldn't get it started. It was slightly out of gear. Fired right up at the last minute. Aircraft carriers don't stop for 27 foot sportcrafts... great advice!
I can’t remember a single time that my lanyard/kill switch hasn’t been attached to me, while behind the helm. Every time! It’s there for everyone’s safety. Good video 👍🏼🇨🇦
Here in Texas in 2019, a law was passed mandating the use of the kill switch while underway at anything more than idle speed. Kali’s Law, as it is known, was precipitated by a 16 y.o. girl being struck & killed by a propeller back in 2012.
If you are ever in the east side of Australia. I owe you a beer. 4 damn hours and about to pull the carby off until I watched this and realised my 3 year old had pulled to clip off the kill switch. I didnt even think my little boat had one!
This is funny! I was on Big Rideau Lake a couple years ago fishing a nice cove when I couldn't get the motor to start. I had just purchased the used boat and this was maybe the 4-5th time on the water. At some point I activated the kill switch as it was attached to my vest and when I was ready to head back to the launch, it wouldn't start. It was just after 5pm and Len's Cove just closed but someone answered the phone anyway and passed it on to a mechanic or maybe even Sean. Within a minute I was ready to go again and obviously felt pretty embarrassed. I was pretty stressed as this was a weekday and I was trying to figure out who to call or how to get a tow back to the launch. Much appreciated!!
Tried everything u said prior to trying to start, No go, could it be fuse 30? Which looked fine to me. Brand new batterty but I also use electrical on/off switch religiously. Can u show me your batterty connections? Red is just one cored black has 3 connected to it. My son used it last, I never let anyone care for my boat. He is 18 & has a skeeter so I thought no big deal.
The worst with an especially finicky one is when it gets bumped while idling in gear…then in the stress it do the situation you may think you are in neutral, then nothing makes sense, until ah ha!
Its not a lanyard but this happens to me on my motorcycle too. Forget to turn the switch to RUN and can't immediately figure out why it cranks but won't start. 🙃
