Very cool perspectives and amazing directing. I specialize in comedy, but this definitely deserved to win the Princess Grace Award. Anyone who tells you otherwise is jealous of your originality!
jacksfilms was this before you were famous?
yoooo wassup bro lemme guess you forgot this comment haha. Well guess what? I didnt!
Absolutely. It's great how it jumps between each person's perspective of each other and shows what they are thinking with just a few seconds worth of shots.
Wow this is crazy, first commenting on a short film then being able to go to the emoji movie primere
perfect grammar
Great short film. Will watch it with my English class.
Same

i was trying to make sure that this was the right video for school, when i saw this comment, i knew it was the right one, thanks
Me too in sociology
Judgment sets up the illusion of separation when in fact we are, everyone and everything, the same. Ego seeks to separate, spirit seeks to unify and heal. Though judgment may be our default, unity is our truth. The moment we release judgment unity is restored. Each shift from judgment to unity is a miracle.
Well said 👏👏
Profound and powerful message through this short film. Excellent 👏❤
Watching this for school, this is an odd short if im going to be honest.
Fantastic! Great tap-dancing I have to say, and loved the message behind it.
Excellent. A good reminder not to be lazy in your assumptions, because you'll miss the truth, and it will cost you.
THIS IS FANTASTIC!
LOVE LOVEE LOVE it;) My only caution having read some of my messages... is YES we are all humans but when we simply say 'we're all the "same" this erases the very different and unique experiences some of us have because of skin colour/race as opposed to others. So what we have to do is first admit that while we are all humans we are definitely NOT the same. Once we admit that truth...and really RECOGNIZE and name racism and all the other isms then we can truly make progress by figuring out how to live with one another and our differences (as well similarities) AND how to challenge systems and institutions that invisibly work for some groups of people while equally invisibly making things very difficult for other groups (generally speaking). Otherwise we'll just keep getting caught in the "colour blind" myth:) GREAT BOOK: Is Everyone Really Equal? An Introduction to Key Concepts in Social Justice Education by Ozlem Sensoy and Robin DiAngelo. Happy reading everyone:)
Wow you’re very progressive and cool
I know right -_-
Great work. Excellent tap dancing.
I like that you included the boy's first impressions too.
Water -- baptism, paper towels -- cancer ...
Thanks
Brilliant film!!! Absolutely amazing!!
And proves a good point...
wow! so powerful and true. i had tears in my eyes toward the end. we really can't judge anyone's exterior...we never really know what is going on inside someone's head. we can not assume to know even beyond race, culture, religion or financial status who a person is or what they are going through. these things are part of the person, but not the person alone. thanks for your beautiful mind put in motion to a masterpiece. best of luck to you in your obviously bright future ahead! :)
that was really creative, probabally the best short film ive seen in my life, ever. i bet after your professor saw that, he knew that you were gonna be a famous director later on in life, good job jon!

no fucking way you quoted your own comment😭☠
Ha! I knew that old lady was a thief! Shows how our assumptions can be so wrong. Great film.
Love this video. I also associate with it on a personal level. That boy tap dancing is super talented. Well done for an accomplished piece of work.
That was EXCELLENT. Very, VERY well done...really shows you how misleading first impressions can be. It's also amazing how with no dialogue and in black and white this movie really proved a point. Great job!!
(P.S. damn, that kid is a really good tap dancer :D)
I totally thought I was listening to basketball the whole time!
Here 14 years later for school, and it is ageless. Its Amazing, congratulations on this success!
Simply brilliant!!!!
watching this in 2020 and its sad how things haven’t even gotten better after 14 years
im watching this in 2021
FYI, a few thousand kids just watched this video for NotInOurSchoolsWeek. nice.
Excellent! Two thumbs up. Loved the way you presented the message. Keep it up
Bravo, magnific! absolutly amazing!
Watched this at school for an E-Learning day for athertons class
People are so quick to judge. Like once my cousins and I were in Claire's and the employee told us don't touch anything cause we can't afford it. Not knowing we had just received money from our grandmother for being on honor roll.
Honor roll students would know how to spell.
@@elasticstudios5727 Bro, did you really criticize a 6-year-old comment's grammar? Formal speech and excellent grammar are not requirements for using TH-cam, and Honor-roll students are not going to show off their amazing syntax and diction in the comments of a TH-cam video. Most of them barely like using it in school.
Antoine Grant is my personal savior... Remember that sometimes the loudest beats are the ones that are not heard
Amazing. Loved the tap dancing. Beautifully illustrated point!
Well, it would have been okay with some REAL music.. that tap dancing background was driving me nuts!
The 8-Bit Guy oh wow bruh 😂
OK this reply is 13 years late but, I think that's the true ultimate point of the film. It's an attempt to reveal the viewer's own biases. You see the student in a gym, and you hear the noise of his feet on the floor throughout the film. You assume he has been playing basketball, based at least somewhat on the color of his skin and the manner of his dress. But it turns out that he has actually be tap-dancing, something I think most folks would agree is quite unexpected. Thus, the film has cleverly tricked the viewer into revealing one of their own biases, hopefully causing them to reflect on what they've learned about themselves in the process. Without this aspect, I think the rest of the film is a pretty basic view of racism and stereotypes (but perhaps that wasn't such a "basic" thing back in 2000 when it was shot?)
Those loud stomping sounds are sooooo annoying!!!
wow.
wonderful short film.
