Very cool perspectives and amazing directing. I specialize in comedy, but this definitely deserved to win the Princess Grace Award. Anyone who tells you otherwise is jealous of your originality!

Absolutely. It's great how it jumps between each person's perspective of each other and shows what they are thinking with just a few seconds worth of shots.

Judgment sets up the illusion of separation when in fact we are, everyone and everything, the same. Ego seeks to separate, spirit seeks to unify and heal. Though judgment may be our default, unity is our truth. The moment we release judgment unity is restored. Each shift from judgment to unity is a miracle.

LOVE LOVEE LOVE it;) My only caution having read some of my messages... is YES we are all humans but when we simply say 'we're all the "same" this erases the very different and unique experiences some of us have because of skin colour/race as opposed to others. So what we have to do is first admit that while we are all humans we are definitely NOT the same. Once we admit that truth...and really RECOGNIZE and name racism and all the other isms then we can truly make progress by figuring out how to live with one another and our differences (as well similarities) AND how to challenge systems and institutions that invisibly work for some groups of people while equally invisibly making things very difficult for other groups (generally speaking). Otherwise we'll just keep getting caught in the "colour blind" myth:) GREAT BOOK: Is Everyone Really Equal? An Introduction to Key Concepts in Social Justice Education by Ozlem Sensoy and Robin DiAngelo. Happy reading everyone:)

wow! so powerful and true. i had tears in my eyes toward the end. we really can't judge anyone's exterior...we never really know what is going on inside someone's head. we can not assume to know even beyond race, culture, religion or financial status who a person is or what they are going through. these things are part of the person, but not the person alone. thanks for your beautiful mind put in motion to a masterpiece. best of luck to you in your obviously bright future ahead! :)

People are so quick to judge. Like once my cousins and I were in Claire's and the employee told us don't touch anything cause we can't afford it. Not knowing we had just received money from our grandmother for being on honor roll.

@@elasticstudios5727 Bro, did you really criticize a 6-year-old comment's grammar? Formal speech and excellent grammar are not requirements for using TH-cam, and Honor-roll students are not going to show off their amazing syntax and diction in the comments of a TH-cam video. Most of them barely like using it in school.

    • @StrikerObi

OK this reply is 13 years late but, I think that's the true ultimate point of the film. It's an attempt to reveal the viewer's own biases. You see the student in a gym, and you hear the noise of his feet on the floor throughout the film. You assume he has been playing basketball, based at least somewhat on the color of his skin and the manner of his dress. But it turns out that he has actually be tap-dancing, something I think most folks would agree is quite unexpected. Thus, the film has cleverly tricked the viewer into revealing one of their own biases, hopefully causing them to reflect on what they've learned about themselves in the process. Without this aspect, I think the rest of the film is a pretty basic view of racism and stereotypes (but perhaps that wasn't such a "basic" thing back in 2000 when it was shot?)
