    The crucifix at 1:11 is indeed completely intentional and a feature in a lot of older nativity paintings, either in more overt way like here, or more covert like placing prominent cross shapes in the background (like on the roof beams). It's foreshadowing, not a spoiler.
    There's a different artistic idea going on in there: particularly the medieval art (and to an extent, renaissance and baroque art particularly in the religious painting), the artists were not so concerned with naturalism but a lot more interested in symbolism, presenting simultaneous ideas with visual symbols, to give to the viewer a better idea what exactly we are looking at here and why, as well as sometimes complex spiritual and theological topics.
    The nativity scene is not just a picture of some kid who has been born and his happy (though tired) parents, the artist narrates also who this kid is or will be, why this particular birth is important enough to be painted. And it presents the idea that Christmas and Easter are closely connected, there is Christmas so that there can be Easter.
    So trying to shame that is a bit like shaming Salvador Dali for painting melting watches or Leonardo for painting a chick who can't quite decide if she should be smiling or not...

      Yeah I agree with you 🙏
      Talk about Christmas, we must celebrate The Birth of Jesus.
      How about santa, shocks, snow, or bells?
      No, it just complement, the main problem is about Jesus....

    I can see some art design just failing to do something right, but to build something that is completely useless like the two swings right next to each other and the basketball court in sand. How does this stuff happen? Is it some intentional challenge for the user or what? Otherwise, the first day it is built, people are going to say, "this is stupid" and never use it. So, it should be torn down the next day instead of apparently being there for decades.

It's not on my keyboard; but then mine is wifi so the actualy power button is on the hard drive to the computer, no need for 'on' button to keyboard. Fun fact: every "tell" that someone is doing something Wrong, lying, etc. is an autism trait. And autistics are pretty regularly harassed, assaulted, and killed by cops bc we're suspicious (it's worst for black men). So the cop car is p gross to begin with.
    But add in the fact that the puzzle piece is what allistics (non-autistics) decides our symbol should be, bc they think we're missing part of ourselves, and that autism speaks is a huge group that uses the symbol... Well, they're a known hate group towards autistics, and encourage a "therapy" that, were the child allistic, would be child abuse at best.
    Not a good look.

    • @JunpakuKarasu
      @JunpakuKarasu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yep! The therapy they promote is illegal to use on allistic children but not on autistic children! Because psychological and physical abuse is only wrong to use on "normal" children :)

    • @earlinejackson8151
      @earlinejackson8151 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What kind of ‘therapy’ do they inflict on autistic children? If it would be considered abuse on non autistic children, then it’s abuse on any child!

    • @JunpakuKarasu
      @JunpakuKarasu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@earlinejackson8151 You would think.
      rn the really really obvious one is they're allowing electroshock punishment belts set to extremely painful dangerous levels to train people at very specifically The Judge Rotenberg Educational Center because a judge overturned the national ban for there. (they have a lot of money for lobbying to keep what they do legal)
      There they have shocked people for not doing something, and then repeatedly shocked them for still not doing it while recovering and for reacting to the shocks.
      Heck just go to that place's wikipedia page to see everything they're allowed to do in the name of "therapy" for adults and children with autism and IDD.
      Withholding food as punishment. Sensory deprivation. Restraints.
      All of these have led to deaths there.
      And parents have sued to keep their children in those places because it makes them nice and docile.
      And this is supported by ABA "therapy"
      Which also supports less obvious techniques unless you know how grooming and more subtle abuse works.
      Like, if a child isn't doing a task properly, grabbing their hands and puppeting them through the task, teaching them their body doesn't belong to them.
      Ignoring non-speaking forms of communication, including typing. Taking away their communication device to force them to use words.
      Taking away a comfort object until a task is done.
      Ignoring distress.
      Putting them through something that causes distress until they no longer show distress.
      With a large emphasis on "still and quiet means cured"

      Bit late here, since I've only just watched this. There's quite a few comments here about the symbolism. But the painting is known as the Saint Columba Altarpiece, and is a triptych with the image featured being the centre. It was painted by Rogier van der Weyden (a highly successful Flemish artist regarded as the most influential Northern painter of the 15th century) in 1455.

    1:12 - for heaven's sake, cross on the wall in Bethlehem stable is not a "spoiler" and not "bad design"! Medieval and renaissance art was symbolic - painters painted cross in the stable to remind, what's going on and WHY Christ had came on this world. Haven't you learn anything about the history of art?!

    The cross at 1:11 is a fairly common symbol in nativity scenes and foretells Christ's death. Are you also going to include every momentum mori (Holbein etc) as a "design so bad" that people are shaming THEM? Or are you just singling out religious significance?

    • @tomwilson2804
      @tomwilson2804 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      First of all, thank you for your insightful comment. I personally have never seen a nativity scene with Jesus hanging on the cross, but I can see the reason for the symbolism behind it. I believe the creator of this video was pointing out that it seems wrong (a.k.a. a "bad design") to put Jesus hanging on a cross in the background to His birth, not as a scathing criticism of the religion itself. To use a non-reiligious example, It would be like seeing a Star Wars movie about Obi Wan Kenobi that shows his birth with a picture of Darth Vader in the background holding a lightsaber.
