I think it's so funny how I have absolutely no problem suspending my disbelief when I have Matt right in front of me having a three way conversation with himself, but when I see a nasty acid dragon, I immediately go OH! It's Matt!!
Yeah he has such a distinctive voice! We were watching the Dragon Age show trailer which he narrates and all I could see was his face 😁
I'm playing Marvel: Midnight Suns. Laura voices Magic, and all I hear is Jester with Beau's attitude.

Hahaha so true, watching the show, I'm like, "Hi Matt!" Meanwhile in the stream the man shapeshifts into 27 different people in 5 minutes and My brain is completely convinced Matt is gone and there's a new person there.
Grog breaking his ax on the dragons neck had much the same effect as "19 doesn't hit" in the stream. I loved it.

Percy talked about the importance of Brimsythe (the young blue dragon) in the Chroma Conclave plan. He was needed to infiltrate the Council of Emon to diminish Emon's Army, since he was Master of Defense.
There are many great scenes in this episode, but I really love that "delicious cattle" scene. For one, because it's a direct quote from Matt in the campaign, and also because I just really love how Raishan looks and sounds and _moves_ .

we did find out about dragon sense. they described it in history back in episode 2 i believe. and said that ever since one of those things killed their mother and it is her favored enemy in the sub class

Lovin this season so far. This first ep had such amazing depictions of the fall of Emon and the abilities of the dragons. Personally love Umbrasyls acid wings, very clever. But Reishans always gonna be my fave.

So the voice actor for thordak is lance reddick who is amazing in the Netflix adaptation of resident evil which is only one season

Yeah the first 3 eps were phenomenal! The pace and action has been excellent
To me, this show really illustrates how actual time spent with the characters and places make everything more impactful.
TV series already benefit from more screen time than movies, but you still can’t beat hundreads of hours of storytelling.
Show viewers only will surely see the fall of Emon as a great demonstration of the overwhelming odds the group is facing, but in the campain we had already spent hours in the city and mourn it.

I appreciate how brutal the show is, because that's absolutely the tone of CR. I remember when I first got into CR, I started with Campaign 2 cause they were on episode 135 or so and I wanted that "start from nothing" vibe of a new campaign and I knew that the C1 stream started when they were already mid tier level and established. So I'm happily enjoying this, "you all meet in a Tavern" classic story, the characters instantly click for me, their shenanigans are fun. Then the zombie fight begins and the descriptions are *unwavering* in the depiction of gore and violence. I remember watching the reaction of the cast and thinking, "wow does he (Matt) always get so graphic?"
Oh yeah, Travis's descriptions for Grog and now Chetney are SO gorey, I had to skip Grog's a few times haah
1:50 Yes they do. When wax had to put on the Death Walkers Ward , in order to gain the friendship of Gauldric in the caves outside of White Stone. Then it was established that it would take abot 15 min. to don. Though Vex helped him & Matt cut the time down a little bit

I worked on a USAF B-52 bomber base. The bombers are not nearly as large on the ground as they appear in the air (I was surprised), but in the air they are terrifying. Not nearly as large as dragons, but rumbling, lumbering beasts nonetheless. They are not visibly fast at lower altitudes, as when taking off or landing, but are terrifying at any rate. I often thought of dragons when I saw these monsters in flight. Cheers.
Yeah now just add a vengeful free will to those metal beasts. That would be truly terrifying.
I knew I'd love this season, but I was not prepared for exactly how great it was!

Little do we know, Uriel actually survived Raishan's poison attack, though his eyes were blinded by the gas. Ridden with shame that the nation he had failed was now ravaged by dragons, he fled Tal'dorei to Wildemount, and took up a clerics mantle, growing out his hair to disguise himself. Hushing anyone who tried to enquire about his past, he took it as his moniker. He would patrol the regions near Alfield, checking to keep the people safe, until years later, he happens upon a curious group in a gnoll infested mine...
Haha that would be wild!

@@Luboffin in season 1 she says that she studied dragons hoping to find the one that killed her mother and now she feels a pain in her head when they're around. It's episode 1 so understandable to forget especially when you already know the whole story so it's hard to separate haha

You HAVE heard why she has a dragon sense. It's because her mother was killed by one of "those things." (stated toward the end of S1:E1) That is when Vex, as a ranger, chose her first "favored enemy" which gives her primeval awareness: the ability to sense them within 1 mile (or 6 miles if she's in her favored terrain, which I believe is forests).

The guest OOCly did not mind the broom being taken, but IIRC Matt changed Vex's alignment from Chaotic Good to Chaotic Neutral over it and THAT got people arguing, at least in the corner of internet I hung out in.
Hey Luna! Great vid. Love watching Jarryd see the story for the first time -- and both of your reactions to some scenes which are new and "made-for-tv" (e.g Gilmore escape) - I'm finding S2 much less rushed than the first season and am liking how they are using things like flashbacks to quickly establish character backstory like Vex and Vax. Loving your vids so far - looking forward to the next!
Yeah I think S1 felt so rushed in the beginning because they were establishing all the characters and everything. It's so nice that it can slow down a bit now

Closest D&D spells to what Allura cast on the dragon would be Earthbind, but the effect also has some similarities to Hold Monster. The actual D&D spell "Magic Missile" always hits and cannot be evaded by anything other than the "Shield" spell.

THere are 5 standard chromatic dragons (Chroma Conclave) Red (fire), Black (Acid), White (Ice), Green (poison) and blue (lightning). They killed the Blue last season so 4

Re: the stolen broom, I don't think that the guest was upset, but Matthew called Vex out and had her alignment shift from Chaotic Good to Chaotic Neutral.
From a DM standpoint, I can see why he might be a bit chagrined with a new magic item being introduced to the party that he hadn't intended or planned for. Especially free flight, which shifts encounter design significantly.
I think it ended up being an iconic part of her character.

Yay! I was hoping that you guys would review. You help me understand all the mysteries and extra bits. So, that woman Liam’s character is seeing is the deal with the ravens? Or is she connected to the dragons? Did the two NPC fighters die when the building castle collapsed? I assume they did, but then it wasn’t as clear as when the King died. Love you guys.

I think its pretty easy to infer that Brimsyth was part of the Croma Conclave with the communication stone, the flashback to confirm it was connected with them, and the name implies one of each and they killed the blue, Kiki is already blaming herself/the group for this.
I loved the ominous angry green eyes of the little girl who ran away from Grog obviously Raishan but I'm not happy that they cut Pike's divine intervention.
Something tells me Jarryd is going to love this season. Excited to follow along with him (And Luna!) for this epic season!

I think that Vox Machina is the best ever TV portrayal of dragons. It perfectly captures their intelligence, ferocity, and power. They would get a perfect 10 out of 10 if they better illustrated the grace and quickness of dragons. Particularly on takeoffs and landings. Only the hobbit even comes close. Game of thrones made them all look the same, with the intelligence of animals.

@@angussharington2374 There are so big because they are ancient dragons. Thordak, Raishan, Vorugul, and Umbrasyl are all ancient dragons, and Brimscythe was just an adult; a child compared to the rest of the Chroma Conclave.
@@pandemoniumeris seize is a little bit confusing in D&D, I think. I played in the Forgotten Realms and remember the White Dragons being the smallest of the chromatic ones. Even an ancient white dragon could be used as a mount. That’s why I thought Vorugal could have been magically enhanced for example

I really wish we got to see Gilmore fighting vs Thordak like how he said to during the campaign but it was offscreened. Gilmore is more than a flirt, I need to see his badass moments, and not him being the “Ron Weasley” where they give away great moments to other characters lol
