This is the unembelished original from the film. That's not to say it's plain or simple, it is very nuanced. I have heard several versions on TH-cam, one by Anton Karas with other instruments, but to me this is the best ever rendering of the music. Nothing else is needed. I too, am nearly 80 and I grew up with this. This is complete.

I used this soundtrack for the cinematic sequences of Myra Hindley & Ian Brady in a Performance work I directed, a sublime ironic dystopian merger, an eerily sardonic outcome. I adore this soundtrack it it resounds in my being & speaks to me about my Osterreich heritage.
