Identity politics is extremely nuanced and inconsistent but has a few generally observable patterns. 1: It denies the existence of the individual, instead making the claim that a person is little more than the mouthpiece for their group. It also tends to derive identity from immutable characteristics, sex, race, skin color, etc. 2: Much of it is postmodern and denies the idea of objective truth, instead relying upon "lived experience". 3: Much of it stems from Marxism, which holds to the idea that the only truth is power, and denies the ideas of meritocracy and competence. All around, it's very collective, anti-individual, and, in my opinion, relies heavily upon Jungian projection disguised as "virtue signaling", while simultaneously not even believing the things they are trying to enforce. I don't really see much good in it, as i believe every individual is unique and cannot be easily boxed in. That's my two cents. Love your videos, Alex! Keep that open-minded perspective and inquisitive nature as we explore this reality together.

Identity politics: a political strategy to divide and conquer by separating folks into extraneous, competing interest groups where you only win if the other side loses; the making of "us" and "them," in place of one "we."
It's also right there on page one of the communist playbook the next step is creating a reactionary army... You know the sort that would burn loot and murder on command
Hey Alex, you asked about the liberal + entrepreneurship connection, here's some info on that: Peterson talks in his lectures about the correlations between political leanings and personality temperament. In general, conservatives are lower in creativity and compassion and higher in orderliness and politeness, which means they tend to value hard work, doing things the established way, and keeping things organized. Changing systems of organization is cognitively a lot of work and discouraged which leads to a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. Liberals are higher in creativity and compassion and lower in orderliness and politeness, which means that a liberal is often a creative "out of the box" thinker. Playing with category structures and blending things together provides for creative expression: blending musical genres or food ethnicities together is a very "liberal thing to do" as it were. (This is also why Hollywood is mostly liberal - it's full of creative people) So what that means for entrepreneurs, is that liberals are good at starting companies and making new inventions, but they tend to be terrible at running companies once they are established, which is what conservatives do well. Which is why you'll often see a very liberal CEO retire and get replaced by a former CFO or COO who by comparison is much more structured and conservative. That has it's own problems in that they are less likely to respond to changes in the market as their liberal founders were, but that is the nature of how the two temperaments are supposed to work together. Society has a place for both liberals and conservatives and what we should be doing is working together so that we can capitalize on each other's strengths rather than just take a dump on everyone who's different - that's not helpful. Peterson has a lot of videos on liberals vs conservatives that go into more detail about that if you wanna check them out. Cheers bud.
Never read such bullshit in my life... There is no such thing as a typical conservative or typical liberal (especially one with a fkn job 😂) they're what you get when you shut down asylums and mass treatment of the mentally ill
Only one party is taking people's rights away and attempted a fucking coup. When you make shitty, low education statements like this, you prove how far right you are when you either hide or forget the fact that the Conservative party is the one that: Killed Roe v. Wade Turned the COVID-19 response into a disaster Wants to kill same-sex marriage Attempted to steal an election and broke into a federal building Has MULTIPLE pedophiles in high positions of power Is full of convicted felons.
Peterson and Trump share the exact same ideology. So it makes sense. Almost all of Petersons cult came over on the MAGA truck for that reason. Peterson tries to pump Trump up at every turn. Why wouldn't someone think that Peterson's cult followers also loved Trump?
And who is saying that if you listen to Jordan Peterson that you inherently love Trump? Give me an example. I think you're simply creating a straw man. But I think the argument can be made that those who listen to Jordan Peterson a lot tend to do so because his strong critiques against "left-wing" "cancel culture," "wokeness," and "political correctness" resonate with them. Trump is similarly heavily critical of those perceived phenomena as well. So it makes sense that people who like Jordan Peterson also tend to like Trump. I find it ironic that anti-wokeness and anti-cancel culture has become a cult unto itself and has turned into a movement of the likes that it criticizes. Left-wing wokeness (and yes, it does exist in some form) is really not all that influential in US politics or in US culture. Most Republican and Democratic voters reject it. But the anti-wokers like Peterson treat it as if it is a phenomenon that will end civilization. It is extreme overreaction to an oversimplification to a phenomenon that really isn't all that prevalent.
WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE COMMENTS.... Identity politics, imo, is a way where we perceive others based on their race & gender as oppose to the content of their character. It's basically just polite bigotry & a huge step backwards in our society.
Inflation is up everywhere. Everyone has less money. (except for the already rich who seem to get richer) I'd love to know how you determined Joe Biden is the cause of all that but I'm sure you haven't thought it through that far.
Trump had a 5 Trillion dollar bailout from the Fed. Added 8 Trillion to the debt and left office with 3 million less jobs then he started with. Biden had Mexico pay for border security Biden brought home all the troops Biden signed a bipartisan Infrastructure deal Biden is lowering national debt Gas, Inflation is a worldwide issue. U.S. gas companies admitted they are using high profits for returns to shareholders and stock buybacks.

You mean the last guy that had a 5 Trillion dollar fed bailout and added 8 Trillion to the debt in four years and left with less jobs then he started with?
@@tgc117 not true. He gave us the LOWEST unemployment ever, and especially among minorities. I know many who have awakened. Why do you THINK the left hates him so viscerally? He showed people what our country can be, if they stop sending ALL our jobs away.
@@loveroffreedomp.5426 When Obama was inaugurated in Jan. 2009 the overall unemployment rate was 7.8% and when he left office in Jan. 2017 it was 4.7%, its lowest rate during his presidency. When Trump was inaugurated in Jan. 2017, unemployment was at 4.7%. with the lowest rate being 3.5% pre covid. Obama inhereited a recession and Trump inherited a rising growing great economy. Obama lowered unemployment by by 3%, Trump lowered it by 1.2%. Obama lowered black unemployment from 16.8% to 7.8%. Trump only lowered it to 6.5% and took the credit. This is why the Black Caucus didn't stand and applaud Trump during his speech. Trump said he did a lot... he did not. Trump was the biggest liar during his 4 years.
Love your content,, Alex. In terms of 'the World being afraid of Trump being a good thing' - that is a very American way to look at it. As a Dane, and a politics and communications professional, I can tell you that people outside of the US were/are not afraid of him out of any kind of respect. Rather - we were 'scared' of his/America's unpredictability that severely threatened global stability. And still does to this day... And to Peterson's point 'Well, at least he hasn't started any new wars'. While I suppose it's true that he didn't exactly start any 'new wars' (which I suppose is code for 'creating turmoil, refugees or causing bloodshed in the world'), it is not for a lack of trying. For instance his complete irratic, selfish and unpredictable behaviour (at least partly) f''d-up the Covid-19 response (albeit 'Operation Warp Speed seemed to have done some good in the end), diminished the NATO-alliance (for the benefit of only one person), took the US out of both the Paris Agreement and the Iran Nuclear Agreement. Furthermore, he eroded the last-remaining overall trust in public and governmental institutions. Oh... then there's the January 6th-thing, too... Furthermore, he has endorsed actual dictators Putin and Kim Jong Un as well as would-be dictators Victor Orbán and Bolsanero (among others), supported the Saudi Government after killing a journalist living in America (Kamal Kashogi), 'offered' to 'buy' Greenland (as if the country and the people were commodities) and associated himself with the Proud Boys. Lastly, he has no less than at least 3-5 pending criminal suits/indictment coming his way, including one on a federal level (i.e. the recent FBI-raid) and at least two on a state level in New York (proven tax-avoidance scheme, confessed to by his personal accountant) and in Georgia (election fraud and tampering that was caught on phone). I could go on forever! The point being - we were 'scared'. But not of him - but for you Americans. 'Cause - for some reason - alot of you cannot see how much of a con and gangster he is and always has been. Anyway - Peterson is smart and well-spoken. But his personal, political bias against political correctness and 'the left' clouds his otherwise very strong assessment of political situations. This has only made him a darling of the (extreme) right in US-politics. Not a good place to be revered. Although i might be profitable. (Note: I also know that this is an older video of Peterson in relation to Trump, FYI).
I like that the interviewer just let Jordan speak. With so many of his interviews, people just try to play “gotcha!” and get sound bites, so this was refreshing.
It's nice to see channels do reactions like these. I don't think every liberal is bad or every conservative is good. And if ideas are exchanged respectfully, I'll listen. ✌️
" I don't think every liberal is bad or every conservative is good." This statement betrays your true ideological thinking, which is diametrically opposed to the claim you're making.
As an Australian from my end the information I was getting of her speeches. She used the fact that she is a woman and a mother as reasons to vote for her and other cards not based on merit. Such as only misogynists wouldn't be voting for her. 😑🚩. And hearing and seeing Trump also saying his fair share of vitriolic fan fare. To me both were bad candidates for many more reasons.
The reason Jordan says liberals tend to be entrepreneurs is because of their tendency to be more creative. However that alone is not sustainable. That's where conservatives come in with an analytical and logical approach to maintain and sustain the entrepreneurship.
Identity politics - guilt or virtue by association, whether to race, gender, class, ideology/ideological group, or any other group. Opposite of guilt or virtue based on your own personal guilt and virtue.
Identity politics is a political approach wherein people of a particular race, religion, gender, social background, social class, environmental, or other identifying factors develop political agendas that are based upon these identities. This started in the 1970s. It has been used so successfully to PIGEON HOLE voters and in turn it PUTS VOTERS against EACH OTHER instead of THE RESPONSIBILITY EACH POLITICIAN SHOULD TAKE. And that is the PURPOSE of the FINAL OUTCOME of ID POLITICS. To put VOTERS AGAINST EACH OTHER. It is VERY VERY MANIPULATIVE and EVIL.
you should do a video about all the good things Trump has done. Like the policies he enacted and such. Yeah hes a pos and I would never want to be his friend, but were all shitty to some extent, and It's a job, not a charisma contest. He did his job well, but didnt succumb to the pressures of political correctness.
This dude presents a lot of very unbiased information. Even his verbiage is balanced. But with that being said, he has some SERIOUSLY hot takes on things. Like... No, lawyers tend to lean liberal, and entrepreneurs tend to lean conservative. I've never seen Jordan Peterson before but I don't really see him defending anything of Trump. I don't understand why the stigma exists that "you watch him, you suckle the Trumple".
I found him through his lectures and "motivational"/life advice videos, it was a huge surprise to me to see the hate and anger that was hurled at him once he became a political figure. The man has literally indiscriminately saved hundreds of thousands of lives, if not millions. The things people accuse him of is such a distortion of reality, it's mind boggling. The worst part was when he saught clinical help for an addiction - People called him a fraud as if he was some deity incapable of failure himself and used his addiction to try to discredit his advice. And these were people who claimed to have the moral highground!
Depends on the country. The liberal party in Germany (FDP, "frei" means free or liberal) is conservative when it comes to social topics like family, poverty or education but counts as liberal in terms of a free market, business laws, taxes and all that. Compared to the democrats in the US there would be two other parties that matched.
@@HarryCaneNo1 It was a generalization. Let's call it left leaning vs right leaning. There tends to be more creative people on the left end of the distribution (artists, actors, entrepreneurs) compared to the right.
5:25 Peterson talks about Trump as an entrepreneur and then says they tend to lean left which is just flat out not true. Entrepreneurs are capitalist and even if they don't believe in fairytales like most conservatives, they still pretty much vote conservative because capitalism and conservatism go hand in hand towards the same ends. Just a flat out lie by Peterson here.
What are the "repercussions" of being a "free thinker?" People criticizing you? People disagreeing with you? Oh no!! This also begs the question of who exactly isn't a "free thinker?" Are people on the left not "free thinkers?" Are people in the mainstream not "free thinkers?" Most importantly, answer me this: to be considered a "free thinker," do you have to be conspiracy theorist loon? These so-called "free thinkers" need to stop crying victim.
This is the first time I've ever heard of "entrepreneurs leaning to the left". Business owners largely lean to the right in my experience. I know because I am one and I work with hundreds of them all over the country every day. Maybe that's not the case in extreme liberal states but even in those cases a lot of "entrepreneurs" actually lean to the right and only "lean left" to appease the mob and "cancel culture".
th-cam.com/video/sPho0bpoKm8/w-d-xo.html this video explains this at about 7 minutes. Liberals tend to be more "open to experience" which aligns with creativity and Entrepreneurial behavior, they just don't run businesses very well bc they aren't very orderly or conscientious. That said, I'm a right leaning libertarian. I am very high in "openness to experience" but also very orderly and conscientious. I would guess that's most of what you see in the business world. This is all based on Petersons personality test you can find on line.
I’m a business owner, I started the business almost 10 years ago. I live in Tennessee and have 7 full time employees. I consider myself to be a centrist Democrat. I’m pro gun, pro abortion, pro military, pro 🌈 and pro constitution. I guess I’m an oddity to you. LoL However I assure you there are many more like me.
@@atrumphasmatis6719 this is a much more nuanced topic than the binaries allow. You're really more heterodox than purely leftist, it appears to me. That's a good thing. I would guess, you're fairly "open to experience" but also conscientious enough to run a business and clean your room. Honestly, as you've probably discovered, there are many of us in the center, left of center, and right of center, that are more like- minded than not. It's the extremes that both parties have latched onto that make this country such a mess. I'm just more fearful of the left's extremes than the right's, so if I have to pick a side, i'll vote Republican, but reasonable people can disagree.
My father in law is a die-hard Trumper. I think he's a very good man. But I hate Trump and probably every Republican and what they believe politically and socially. Point being is that Americans do have way more in common than politicians want us to believe. Keep us divided, fighting, and then the rich run to the bank. Pijnt
Identity politics is when the party you vote for identifies who you are as opposed to you identifying the party you vote for. In a perfect world, you'd vote for the person who most represents the policies you support, regardless of the party that person is with. Identity politics means you'll vote your party, regardless of the poilicies that the candidate supports, even if they disadvantage you.
This is my favorite kind of content you post because you’re open minded and it’s nice to hear your thoughts. However, it is the kind of content that will get backlash from ❄️. But either way this is YOUR channel. Post what you want and speak your mind. That’s why we’re here in the first place. 🤷♀️😊
If Alex is so open minded, how come he doesn't react to David Pakman, Brian Tyler Cohen, Al Franken, and Sam Seder's many, many, many takedowns of conservative ideas? There is a reason he is posting political reactions only to Shapiro, Peterson, and Owens (with zero criticism of what they have to say mind you) and that is because he has gone down the right-wing rabbit hole and is a disgusting, shameless, and disgraceful right-winger, even if cryptically so.
@@braddennis5442 disgusting, shameless, and disgraceful right-winger, huh? Why is everyone on the left so angry all the time? 🤔 are they putting steroids in your soy bars? Chill out and move on if Alex has you triggered.
Identity politics is aggressively and self-righteously focusing on race, gender, religion, and sexual preference as it relates to any and every issue. Rather than coming together and solving problems, identity politics amplifies differences and divides us.
It would be good for UK politics if the 2 main parties were more polarised. The conservative political commentator Peter Hitchens described the Conservatives and Labour as "a pair of corpses propped up against each other".
You should watch The Jordan Peterson Podcast Season 4 Episode 3 Radical Ideologies and the Nihilistic Void with Douglas Murray wherein Dr. Peterson and Douglas Murray discuss Trump
I never, never would have voted for the witch..... I was a Ted Cruz fan and voted for him in the primaries; once TC lost the nomination I had to pay more attention to Trump and he won me over... I voted for him and I NEVER regrated it. Great President!!!! A man of action, a doer, fast in his actions and decisions.... I never cared about the fact that he made fun of some idiots, that's part of the election process in America. He made China paid, and NATO; economy was great, gas prices great, energy independent; he built the wall.... he was involved in the building of the wall, he went to the border, he talked with the border patrol people; he equipped the military; I mean, there is a huge list of things he did. Jordan Peterson, in my opinion, secretly likes Trump more than he admits in this interview.
What was the date of the Jordan Peterson discussion about Donald Trump? I like that Trump didn't get us into any wars. But tricky about January 6th, 2021 thing. How do you reconcile with the 2! (and like I said in separate comment: Well Done by Alex Hefner with the way he approached this video!! Impressed by the first video that I watched by you! Keep of the great work and Thank you!!!)
1. I have used many shaving products in my life. I like Harry's and Gillette products, mainly because for me, they both work well for face and head shaving. 2. I have been saying that it was more that the Democrats lost the election in 2016 than the Republicans won it. The Dems took their foot off the gas, and the Trump team smartly took advantage. Jordan was spot on in his analysis. 3. As an Independent, I can see that the political system is broken. All the money funneled into the 2 major parties, and the power and influence that comes with it, is delaying the natural evolution of politics. That's why other parties in our country's history no longer exist, they couldn't change with the times. Unfortunately, the political cesspool will continue, until no amount of money can stop the evolution from happening. 4. If you don't like what this channel has become, no one is forcing you to watch. Keep up the great work Alex!
The reason why more entrepreneurial people tend to be liberal is because the risky, creative, outside of the box decisions are typically ruled by those who are wired to be more left leaning. Conservatives tend to be more status quo, small changes over long time to adjust slightly with cultural shifts. Conservatives typically don’t like shake ups to their routine lives.
"Openness to experience". That's why left leaners tend to he entrepreneurs. They're creative thinkers. But, they should hire conservatives to run their businesses. Bc conservatives tend to be orderly and conscientious. This is all based on Petersons personality testing.
In my mind. Trump is not a politician. Yes he was President, his mind was more on our country and its troubles. Unlike others who lean away from the US. Trump was out to expose the dirt in DC. The liberals knew this and got him out. Trump biggest weapon was We The People. He had so many topics to keep We The People going.
Identity politics: it does not matter who you are as an individual, you being a part of a larger collective determines your rights and values. If you are white it is YOU who is guilty of slavery. If you are a man it is YOU who is oppressing women. If you are black, latinx, transgender, disabled or are taking part in the lgbt bbq, it is YOU who is being discriminated against. Conversely, if you are white it is YOU who should be proud of your skin colour?! (according to extreme right white identitarian groups), and if you are a Muslim it is YOU who has to speak up against terrorism. Basically let’s not consider individual value, rights or obligations, let’s just reduce it all down to groups and (collective) identities.
Keep in mind the adage: 'You can't see the forest for the trees'. From a political science mindframe, identity politics is basically catering to different people in different ways as opposed to the populace as a whole. Every politician does it, but like everything, it can be taken to an extreme wherein the "whole" is largely forgotten. So, like the aforementioned adage, Clinton played on the individual trees (demographics) whilst neglecting the forest (the US populace).
I'm on the other spectrum of "gamer". I put a controller in my hands, and I'm like "it's ok dood, we lost, we just run it back, you know? It's just a game! Why so serious?" Meanwhile my pals are just raging at the screen and I have tasked myself to calm them down. Unless I'm the one who put them in an "unfortunate" situation. Heh. Here's an idea as to why big entrepreneurs tend to lean to the left. I'm not saying it's "that and that's it", nor do I pretend it's the truth, perhaps only my opinion, but here goes: lobbying. The left is more readily prompt to write into law texts that give more power to the State, with a certain belief that it can plan more and more aspects of the future for the people better than the people themselves. It then follows that entrepreneurs would take advantage of that, would collude with politicians, flaunt their wealth and their planning skills, and decide the future of people together while racking up the dough, a very lucrative deal for both politicians and entrepreneurs. And it would make sense: entrepreneurs want to do what's best _for their businesses,_ and having politicians lining their and their businesses' pockets through law is just that. There is "evidence" of that. Just recently, a new law got passed such that it would put GPU and graphics cards manufacturer nVidia in a very favorable position within the US, making the stock climb significantly. Days before the law got passed, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's husband bought nVidia stocks, and the stock rose in response of the law. Is it proof of insider trading? No. Is Nancy Pelosi at odds with the law? No, she claimed she didn't have any knowledge of her husband's intents regarding nVidia stocks. Is it legal? Yes, as long as it's impossible to prove there's insider trading going on. Is there insider trading going on? Your guess is as good as mine, there's happenstance, there's evidence, but those are sorry excuses that could never conclusively prove it. And at the same time, nVidia gained a favorable position against its competitors AMD and now Intel...
To me, identity politics is using someone's own identity to further your political gain. Also, I see you've been watching a lot of right-leaning videos, which is cool! But I'd love to see you branch out more on the political spectrum when it comes to videos (such as more left-leaning stuff, maybe even some libertarian things). Might be interesting to see the difference in that.
He says to keep sending him suggestions, but the suggestions we give him aren't "too left" for some people. Tim Pool and Joe Rogan are both center left.
I always thought that people that were small business owners/entrepreneurs tended to lean right. However, I’ve never really looked up any stats or anything. It’s just something I’ve noticed with the people I know in my own life.
People listening to Jordan Peterson tend to have better lives than before. Still better listening to him than any tiktok video😂. People don't like people listening to him because he speaks truth where those people use emotions over logic and it's dangerous.
To me, playing Identity Politics is making it all about how you were born. It's not about who you are and what you can do. It's about WHAT you are, as if that is everything. Clinton was selling herself as such a great choice...because she was a woman. Meanwhile, she pulled out all the crazy stops to vilify Trump as an evil, alt-right, woman-hating, transphobic bigot. Six years later, I still find it sort of funny that the so-called "tolerant" and "inclusive" people were belittling a man with a moniker that uses a color. "Orange man" is quite ironic from the crowd that calls Whites hateful against anyone who isn't White.
Thanks for being a logical and unbiased thinker man👏🏼Despite you getting shit for posting content related to Peterson or Trump. Too many people are angry and just want to point fingers. You’re one of the few who thinks before he talks. Keep it up man! 🤘🏼
Harry's pulled their ads from the Daily Wire when a dude tweeted to Harry's about them funding a conservative leaning company. Let's hope no one tweets to them about your 'tolerance' of the Right.
Yes, and the Daily Wire President started selling his OWN razors. How many “woke” companies are now going out of business? More than people realize! Look into it!
Jordan Peterson is educated in the best sense / thoughtful and respectful of the audience but not indoctrinated like so many so called educated people - but he 'should' read Lord Black, Roger Stone and Doug Wead on him before he comments with confidence.
identity politics is about classifying people as a collective and by their so called identities. these identies include, but are not limited to, race, nationality, gender, age, wealth class. its basically collectivism with many collectives
Identity politics is basically trying to play favorites to all the different groups, races, identities while also lying to each group that you will NOT do what other groups are wanting.
When we stop having the expectation of the leader of the free world has to be competent, then we start realizing that voting someone who is honest, even if they're incompetent, is better than voting for someone who gives us false promises and turns into being incompetent anyway. I'd personally have an honest, incompetent president than a lying, incompetent president.
Inflation is pretty much due to trumps time in office. The reason inflation is so high is because of the multiple multi trillion dollar covid bailouts that got passed under trump. Inflation comes (in this case) from the united states spending more money then they have (trillion dollar bailouts) and then the federal reserve printing enough money to "buy that debt", which, again in this case, massively devalued the current currency. Basic supply and demand dictates, when there is more of a product, that value is worth less. In this case the product is money.
It says a lot about you that you're happy that other countries are afraid of the US. Why would that make you happy, honestly? I'm Canadian and I love the fact that everyone seem to love Canadians and Canada in general. People always smile when I tell them I'm Canadian when I travel to other countries. It's just weird to me that someone feels good when they're intimidating. That's a bully mentality.
Bro. Jordan just spits facts. And, a lot of clueless, ignorant people don't like facts. So, they can kick rocks because I know I feel better when knowing the truth vs a narrative.
Liberal doesn't mean left wing or progressive in the rest of the world. Only in the US does liberal mean that. To be fair, because Canadians watch too much US TV and receive too much social network content from the US, they are increasingly unable to discern the difference either. It means someone who prefers liberty over state intervention into human affairs.
Hey Alex, I don't think you are becoming alt right or whatever, but I think it would be fun if you balanced out the reactions to conservative speakers like Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro and Candace Owens with some creators that lean more towards the left. Perhaps even some videos that objectively criticize Peterson, I think it would be an interesting watch for you and entertaining for us viewers :) Keep the videos coming man!
Entrepreneurs tend to lean left because they tend to be progressive and artistic thinkers that push boundries, all traits that traditionally align more with the left.
We need to get rid of the electoral college. Hilary won the popular vote so what's the point of voting if who the majority of the country votes for doesn't become the president all bcs of the electoral college. It's been 200 years why do we need them again? We don't
One correction, other countries weren't scared of us, they made fun of us, and they still do. The differences lie in the facts that trump is unpredictable, it's hard to tell where his breaking point really is, and then the fact that now instead of having someone who is intentionally arrogant, and ignorant, we just have an old dude who acts like he has no idea what he is doing. Americans wanted trump out of office so much, and now we kinda have someone who isn't doing much on his own but it seems like he's just saying yes or no to other people's ideas. 0 has a greater value than something negative so having someone who doesn't really do much is better than someone who is intentionally hurting the American reputation (not that there's much of a reputation for us but we are trying to do better and progress is the first step towards success)
Liberalism more broadly categorizes interest in forward progress, new ideas, and protection from the government while exploring those ideas. It actually makes sense that entrepreneurs would lean more towards the liberal side of the spectrum because they are creative people. Starting a business requires creativity and innovation, which are both very risky endeavors, especially when you are trying to monetize your ideas. It only makes sense that they would want protection from the government while developing their ideas. That’s why LLC’s exist. Most startup businesses fail within the first year. If you are a sole proprietor or LLC, you hold little to no legal accountability for that failure, as opposed to corporations or other forms of business.
Identity politics is prioritizing people's collective identities over their individual sovreignity. It's essentially putting people in boxes based on their racial, cultural markers that can't be changed. So I'd be part of the black demographic, and the latin demographic (Brazilian). People playing identity politics would treat me as such, ignoring or dismissing most of my individual experiences, tastes, privileges etc. The obvious issue with that is that you can do this infinitely. You can split people in ever-refining categories, and have them fight each other based on those. It never ends... and the irony is that the end result of the ever-splitting identity politics is to arrive at the conclusion that the most vulnerable minority is the individual... which is the very opposite of Identity Polictics.
I think the difference here is the difference between the subcultures. Liberal and classical liberalism are different things. Classical liberalism foundationally "I may disagree with what you say but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it." Further right there's libertarians, which tend to be highly principled. For example: I believe in a woman's right for bodily autonomy but I'm against abortion; because I believe that when we draw a line anywhere across humanity for the purpose of our convenience that isn't ethically just. No different than when this country said that black people were 3/5ths a person because of their skin color. Modern liberalism seems to be more concerned with the inequities in results of social dynamics and seem more willing to sacrifice freedom for the sake of psychology, monetary, and social well-being.
identity politics: going on a black show and telling them you carry around hotsauce everywhere you go slightly more serious: making everything about groups ppl identify with instead of the content of their character
Liberals are entrepreneurs more often because on a temperamental level, they are more creative and Conservatives are more orderly. This is based on Psychology's big 5 models of personality. The way Peterson puts it is you want a conservative to run the business because they provide the structure and order, and you want leftists to run the innovations and work on the board because they provide complex yet creative solutions or innovations for the company.

Hey Alex, you asked about the liberal + entrepreneurship connection, here's some info on that:
Peterson talks in his lectures about the correlations between political leanings and personality temperament.
(This is also why Hollywood is mostly liberal - it's full of creative people)
So what that means for entrepreneurs, is that liberals are good at starting companies and making new inventions, but they tend to be terrible at running companies once they are established, which is what conservatives do well.
Cheers bud.

Identity politics means people thinking if you listen to a Jordan Peterson clip then you must love Trump.
Peterson and Trump share the exact same ideology. So it makes sense. Almost all of Petersons cult came over on the MAGA truck for that reason. Peterson tries to pump Trump up at every turn. Why wouldn't someone think that Peterson's cult followers also loved Trump?
Exactly lol
Inversely, if you listen to Matt Dillahunty you're a socialist. It's called walking the fence, using critical thinking.

I don't understand why the stigma exists that "you watch him, you suckle the Trumple".

The worst part was when he saught clinical help for an addiction - People called him a fraud as if he was some deity incapable of failure himself and used his addiction to try to discredit his advice. And these were people who claimed to have the moral highground!

Entrepreneurs are creative. More liberals are creative than conservatives. Therefore, most entrepreneurs tend towards the liberal end of the spectrum.

Are people on the left not "free thinkers?" Are people in the mainstream not "free thinkers?" Most importantly, answer me this: to be considered a "free thinker," do you have to be conspiracy theorist loon? These so-called "free thinkers" need to stop crying victim.
This is the first time I've ever heard of "entrepreneurs leaning to the left". Business owners largely lean to the right in my experience. I know because I am one and I work with hundreds of them all over the country every day. Maybe that's not the case in extreme liberal states but even in those cases a lot of "entrepreneurs" actually lean to the right and only "lean left" to appease the mob and "cancel culture".
It my experience, the person who founded the company tends to be more liberal and the person who manages the company tends to be more conservative.
th-cam.com/video/sPho0bpoKm8/w-d-xo.html this video explains this at about 7 minutes.

Identity politics is when the party you vote for identifies who you are as opposed to you identifying the party you vote for. In a perfect world, you'd vote for the person who most represents the policies you support, regardless of the party that person is with.

And at the same time, nVidia gained a favorable position against its competitors AMD and now Intel...
with the thing about entrepreneurs leaning left, i think is because corporate is Bible for conservative and nuance is more liberal
Might be interesting to see the difference in that.

identity politics is about classifying people as a collective and by their so called identities. these identies include, but are not limited to, race, nationality, gender, age, wealth class. its basically collectivism with many collectives
Identity politics is basically trying to play favorites to all the different groups, races, identities while also lying to each group that you will NOT do what other groups are wanting.
The words coming out of your mouth when you're gaming or the exact same words coming out of my mouth when I'm behind the wheel. 👍
Instead you got two lying incompetent presidents
I'd rather not have someone over 70 years old. The elderly shouldn't control the future they can't see.
They all lie. Some of them are just better at it.
Who exactly are you calling an honest incompetent president?
Great way to put it
You made me see things a bit differently there
Nicely done
Corporations lean left and democratic is because one simple reason..GREED
I'll take "mean tweets" over nine percent inflation every day. "Let's Go Brandon"
Dark Brandon still beat tRumpkin in 2020!
We weren’t scared, we respected you!
Not anymore, obviously…
Votes still may be 50/50 but its pushed further out to the extremes.
Hey Alex, I don't think you are becoming alt right or whatever, but I think it would be fun if you balanced out the reactions to conservative speakers like Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro and Candace Owens with some creators that lean more towards the left. Perhaps even some videos that objectively criticize Peterson, I think it would be an interesting watch for you and entertaining for us viewers :)
Keep the videos coming man!
We don't
Jordan Peterson is nothing like Trump
LETS GO BRANDON! TRUMP 2024!!!
Trump lost lol
You just censored yourself 🤡🤘🤘🤘💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
lol trump is a joke
Trump is half the reason this country is tanking, bidens the other half. Both are garbage
@Amari Dawn to be in prison, you must actually commit a crime
5:39--Im answering as a conservative here: people on the traditional left tend to be more creative than conservatives.
What identity politics means to me a waste of breath
Nah nah nah, you gotta do Jeremy's razors haha
I think the difference here is the difference between the subcultures.
Liberal and classical liberalism are different things. Classical liberalism foundationally "I may disagree with what you say but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it." Further right there's libertarians, which tend to be highly principled. For example: I believe in a woman's right for bodily autonomy but I'm against abortion; because I believe that when we draw a line anywhere across humanity for the purpose of our convenience that isn't ethically just. No different than when this country said that black people were 3/5ths a person because of their skin color.
Modern liberalism seems to be more concerned with the inequities in results of social dynamics and seem more willing to sacrifice freedom for the sake of psychology, monetary, and social well-being.
identity politics: going on a black show and telling them you carry around hotsauce everywhere you go
slightly more serious: making everything about groups ppl identify with instead of the content of their character
Entrepreneur is high in openness and creativity. Liberals are also high in openness and creativity, not necessarily leftists however.
