Great video. Just a small point: Siegebreaker is a 1/2 chance to wrech a building btw, the dice have 2 "regular strike" symbols on them and then the heroic strike. I would still run the monarch slightly forwards mind you, largely because its other guns are fairly short ranged and you can only fire the big cannon once every other turn (without cards). I think it would be too expensive to sit in the back and only shoot 3-4 times in a game.
You are right on the 1/2 chance to destroy a building, even better! On the Monarch, I saw you asked the game developer (thanks!), let's see what he answers. I don't want to believe they'd stop you from using this weapon that much (it consumes two out of three attacks per turn to do so).
Thanks for the video. Not sure but the Crown just might be my second choice for an army. First choice will be Imperium, unless the Union is incredibly fantastic. I think that the “good beginner army” just might help with teaching someone to play.
We are on the same page! I'll start Union but am highly considering doing an Imperium force (waiting for the miniatures!). And yes I believe the Crown being quite "vanilla" will make them perfect for demo games!

Well even if just for everything else minus Landship, a 3rd starter is a great deal! And you can always resell a lone Landship to players that have only Battle for Singapore or an Introductory Set :-)
The lack of ground clearance on the Crown Landship irks me. I've thought of something that's probably going to make the union unique; constructs capable of capturing objectives since they're trying to make entirely self sufficient robot armies. I'm so excited to see your first battle report with this though. :D

One of the main advantages seem to be the ability to have transport and make your force all "heavy" in the earlygame. Meaning you cancel all the light weapons of your enemy during the time your opponent needs to crack open those Stirlings, Tristans and so on. Sappers in a Sovereign seem to be really strong!
Absolutely! They'll probably be the best army to give a beginner in a demo so they can learn the game. And you are right! Did not think about this skew list, but you can have a 100% Heavy list quite easily with all the transports! Damn, that is scary.

Don't think the Rocketeers can shoot then charge as the rules state that the melee goes in the Attack Step and that has already been taken, they also can't charge into contact as the rules state that they MUST perform melee if they charged, which they can't do as there is no combat step. Still confused about the Monarch and reloading though, All Out Attack says you must use a different line, but your way is using an attack from another line for the same weapon to reload.
You are right about Rocketeers! It is either shooting either charging, and either way they'll obliterate enemy infantry their way. Basically shoot as first action if enemies are in overwatch, charge if the enemy is not. For the Monarch I really believe you can reload by sacrificing another line of attack. Otherwise it'd be a terrible weapon and make the Monarch worse than the Sovereign.
Even if you "spend" another Line of Attack to reload? That'd make the Monarch worse than the Sovereign for a higher cost - I really hope it is not the case.
@@DavidSmith-te9gg If it were pure upside and for 20pts you'd only gain the gun, I'd absolutely agree with you. But here with the Monarch, you have a weaker normal Light attack (eh), you lose Inspiring 3 (ouch), and especially you lose Transport 12 (which is a huge, huge downgrade).
@@loveandwargames Well I played against one this week, and it was awful - for me. First activation it took down 3 out of 4 artillery, 5 out of 8 Jezzails and 3 off another unit, all my good anti-armour units. He never used it to transport though, that could have helped in securing an objective.

@@loveandwargames I dunno, 20pts to one-shot a 60pt reinforced infantry unit anywhere on the table, 3 times a game is very powerful.

God, had i read the rules before building the models I would have made Bors bombard instead of Mordred heavy artillery ...
It's okay! Worst case, you can proxy. And TBF the Mordred are still amazing units. You can build Mors once you get more sprues! :-D
