after listening to Aldous for the past 4 weeks to my surprise i dont need psychedelics anymore, i just put on a good set of headphones turn up the volume and '' die of astonishment'' everytime! i havent bought music in 40+ yrs but with my savings i feel obliged to buy all her albums and i would encourage everyone else to the same, this young lady deserves and needs our support. thx. Aldous💖
First time i listened to Aldous Harding, not many musicians get me glued like this to the screen, she gave me pause to reflect, the music is truly spellbinding. Amazing stuff.
Kexp somehow manages to pull the most distilled version of these artists and performances. Not sure what the recipe is for this but almost always, the kexp version is the best one filmed and often audiologically produced as well. The muse must smile upon and dwell somewhere within that operation.
Ms. Harding is so attractive in every sense for that real humanness she expresses. The feeling is full, translated through her music that lands down hard, unfolds within, and carries me away. I LOVE this.
I have goosebumps, so refreshing to see a talented female giving no fuks about sitting pretty and sticking to the rules. Truely rare and authentic talent!
I love this woman! And her "take me as I am or not at all" kinda attitude. It's so refreshing and authentic and she's such a natural talent. Might have a slight lady crush on her as well n I don't even swing that way, but she's beautiful and stunning in so many ways. Breathtaking and magnificent performance from Aldous here, stellar! 💪💗✌💚🙏
I was the Carlos Castinada of my high school back in the 70s. I told others where to find and how to use Datura. Carlos' account of the herb was so accurate. If it like spirit liked you, you saw red. It liked me a lot! If the spirit didn't like you you saw black. That is: some people who take Jimson weed went temporarily blind. I do not recommend it - as you say: madness.
Dangerous hippy bollocks. Datura is an incredibly powerful hallucinogen, if you take too much it will make you perform a very realistic impression of having a psychotic episode. I know, myself and friends took it.
Alway's changed me from the first time I ever listened to auldus ☺️ her beuety is so so close to my me" no Shi,,,,t pure 🔯. Take her into your space a lott to offer"" thanks Aldous.. 😷 hope your well.
To quote Mark Hollis "I get on great with silence. I don't have a problem with it. If you're going to break into it, try to have a reason for doing it.". He was a genius, and so is Aldous Harding.
wow...she is so beautiful..I think any feelings of uncomfortable within myself has made me realize how caught up we all are in how we will be perceived so we hold ourselves in; I am so glad that she doesn't. What an inspiring soul.
I’ll tell ya, man, wow, Aldous Harding is the complete bomb 💣! What an amazing artist. She is art personified. Such complete abandonment. I just love her. Great performance! ❤️
A lot of commenters are confused about the facial expressions. Listen to anyone describe Jay-Z in the studio. Making faces is common for vocalists who are aiming for a precise sound. Most tone it down for live performances. Also, most vocalists don't duplicate their studio sound when playing live. They do a casual interpretation. Note that she doesn't. I'm not saying all vocalists do this. But if you pay attention, many do, especially when they are being very serious about making a specific sound. Which she is.
@@MyLovelyDeadFriends usually artists give mediocre live performances. She never fails because she summons sounds, her entire face is part of her instruments.
I have also seen that and I'm pretty sure she goes farther, into the playing something like different characters when she's performing. Sometimes she keeps the expression on while not singing and between songs. In the "Designer" performance for KEXP she's basically in character the whole time.
I've never heard anyone with this number of different voices they draw on. Every phoneme seems hand-sculpted - how much breath, how much resonance, where's the attack, the sustain... but across 20? different "characters"? I always thought you had to pick one when you started out but here's someone moving between them and it's truly beyond words.
When I was young I had the suns share of talent - sport, art, music, poetry. I can say without false ego that I walked the earth a god with a small case “g”. Long before Aldous walked i thundered in the neighbourhoods of her home town ... a hoary beast devouring wishes like cocoons consume caterpillar dreams of flight. I squandered it all on empty thrills and cheap moments filled with stolen Kama sutra chapters whose burnt edges stained the beds of ten thousand wet dreams... I am old now ... and bereft of all but the final gift ... to recognise great music and to enjoy its sweet nectar on the bough. Listening to this music transports me to the very horizons of hope once more ... every note she sings is a story I fly on like a hidden seed trapped in the wings of the bar tailed godwit beating west for her home in the land of the long white clouds. There is light in this gift. It is fire. I am it’s fuel and a fool ... There is no escaping my impotent love for this talent ... the lust is viciously rhetorical ... but it’s kiss is soulgasmic Aldous Harding ... thank all that is wholly for your courageous floetry. Absolutely adore this lady! Beautiful, talented and I love her authenticity and her "take me as I am or not at all" kinda attitude. Stunning in so many ways 💪💗✌💚
I wasn't too sure about her new album upon first or second listen. I absolutely love it now. It's one of those that really grow on you. Such an exciting new talent.
If you hear one of her songs and are not sure if you like it or not, watch her perform it and witness the feeling and you cant help but love everything about it. It mesmerizing and infectious. An amazing artist.
There is something aggressive about her facial expressions, yet her voice sounds so emotionally raw and vulnerable. It's a jarring juxtaposition. It's beautiful music regardless.
I remembers me of singers when they were just doing their thing and not worry so much about what they looked like, she's all into what she's doing and we can hear that too.
This kexp session has it all. A delicate performance from a niche underrated artist. An overenthusiastic, nervous host. Invisible familious aka Jarred. And a musician absolutely losing their god damn mind.
She's a hell of a performer and artist. I just bought her albums, she's so enigmatic and I'm quite captivated by her music. Kind of like an alien life form who saw some Kate Bush videos in their surveillance of Earth, threw in a few splashes of Thom Yorke, Beth Gibbons, but then said, "Eff it, I'm just going to do my own version of music for these humans." Amazing.
I guess he's her biggest fan, scared to ask a stupid question or something. I would trade with him any day of the week though and be equally intimidated.
Wow. The whole show is great and exciting. The music is so talented and the "interview" was so weird and funny. Kudos to the interviewer for quickly adapting to her way of thinking and talking.
Wish there was a love button! She is so immersed in her performance and I totally understand that's where the facial expressions come from. Just listen to the voice and you can see why. Don't give interviewer hard time about jumping up and down. I'm sure I'd be the same! Interesting questions.
This women is incredible. I'm not being sexist but I don't actually listen to female artists. I love Kate bush and bjork. But it's been along time since I've loved a female artist like this. Beautiful.
Those are very conservative people, who either like top 40 music, or don't like music at all (or are just trolling). Forget about them, and think about how lucky we are to have Aldous and her music in our lives.
If you watch some of the great pianists they are VERY expressive and physically active also. It's a combination of their raw emotion/connection to the song and that's also their way of "getting down" per say. I personally love it, it shows the artists interest and care of their own work.
enjoy Aldous’ living her songs and the interviewer his nervousness but utter admiration and love , he gets his words out as does she, that isn’t a problem, they are both being true, we all project ourselves into his place, I would hope I wouldn’t cover my nervousness and love with some phony professionalism, would you? And do you do that in your life?
She's so tranced I'm amazed she knows where she is when the song ends. Imagine if she was around in the sixties. It would have been even better, her with Jimmy Hendrix on guitar or doing a little folk number with Led Zeplin.
Yes host looked nervous but sounded good (has a great voice for radio) - as for Aldous - she played Jules Holland on UK TV - one song - fantastic - stole the show - warm wishes to her.
While watching this classic performance for well-over the 200th time since the published video, it’s dawned what is slightly jarring, enticing, and unique about Harding’s live sets. It’s the physicality and body language expressed when singing appears to be of a contrasting genre. It’s great, and is oddly engaging as a viewer in a similar manner to which the human eye picks up on ‘rule of thirds’ in visual compositions.
I love how intensely she squints at the interviewer every time he asks a question. (She really doesn't do anything half-heartedly does she - even listening?) Helps explain why he's so annoyingly nervous.
I don't have words. I'm a grandmother but if this girl walked into the room I would just cry, she moves me so much.
Isn't she amazing❤

First time I clicked on her music... Aldous Harding has been a headphone-friend ever since! Thank you KEXP!
The guitar, the chords, the faces, the singing. This feels like the future, and I don't usually think that about music
Love everything about this. Her music, her expressions and her otherness.
YES!!
Her otherness - love that. Spot on
