Matt, thanks for doing all you do. You’re easily one of my favorite local media voices covering the Steelers. I trust your judgment. You’re fair…not a hater and not a complete homer either, and you actually know what you’re talking about 🙏
The Chiefs...you missed a couple of other teams as well...like QB'S...there's a TOP TEN...& like coaching..HEAD COACH & ASSNT COACHES...we are in the middle group ...just like our usual season record...average
When we had a good quarterback Tim Tebow and Blake Borttles and Baker Mayfield without his head coach beat us in the playoffs.....tell us more about that excuse about angodd quarterback will get you over the hump .....Tomlin had Ben for about 14 seasons.....he also had the killer Bs.....yes we need you to tell is about how a quarterback is the answer 😅@@chrisdavis1301
@neilenglish8582 I hope you are talking about the entire staff. Because if you are only talking tomlin you have officially gone mad. Tomlim is NOT a mid pack hc...you can be mad and all but he's like 5😂
Fields is the guy and he is pretty good better than hurts we just have to get some help around him cause he's not that mahomes Allen lamar type game changer
Those teams were DIVISIONAL teams with playmates. Steelers got blind sided with the unexpected beat down with injuries. They came a long way but survived the beat down. Hopefully, they invest is playmates and better prepared for top teams...
Anyone saying it’ll take a decade or more is genuinely delusional. Rebuilds do not take that long especially with the fact that the Steelers aren’t in a bad financial spot and they have some decent young talent
Matt, it sounds like Art agrees with you. I feel like the ideal outcome of this offseason for the people in the building, is getting Fields back and drafting Milroe (both have similar skill sets). But they really need to get NFL talent on offense. We keep drafting on offense and signing proven talent on defense. We have one pro bowler on offense, and it’s the only guy they signed from another team.
It's just Mahomes it's the modern coaching approach by the chiefs to the old fashioned approach by the Steelers. Reid has changed with the times Tomlin has not
I've been a fan since '72. It's been a slow fade since Cowher left. We've gone from competing for the SB to competing for a Wildcard game. Sadly, I'm going numb watching the current era. Not sure this coaching staff/GM has what it takes to make us a SB contender.
You’re right we’re not that far away. I do feel we are growing and the offensive line is young and getting better so is our talent wise no worries I feel good here we go Steelers and I’m pulling for Philly Dilly.
Hey Matt, I know Jaxson Dart's name will be talked about a lot moving forward, and I've heard Lane Kiffin's offense doesn't prepare qb's for the nfl. Can you speak to that, cause I've also heard you refer to the offense as gimmicky?
Give it up guys. 10years away in that loaded division. So just go to bed guys. Im from buffalo and its cold and miserable here too. Buffalo Bills are now finished for a few years also. Just how it is man.
No, the steelers could have gone deep into the playoffs this year had tomlin not been so egotistical. The steelers could be SB contenders if they played to the strengths of their personnel and not some made up personality. Getting the playmakers required. Get the back, WR, def, you have the qb; SEE HURTS. Hurts is not Mahomes burrow, allen, or jackson level. you dont need to have that. you need to work to their strengths. JF2 is hurts level at qb if we let him be himself and played to his strengths.
Simply put the chiefs know who they are and scheme to match that and succeed. the Steelers THINK they know who they are and scheme to match and fail. That’s coaching
They have enough talent to make the playoffs, but they fall short of winning in the playoffs, in the last two seasons. Hopefully some really good moves in the draft and free agency could make a big difference. Thank you Matt great show.
Agree Matt that the Steelers did show ability to compete even into the 4 game murderer’s row at the end of the season. In fact, that was the perfect litmus test for where they are in terms of vulnerabilities as those teams were obviously the cream of the AFC with the Steelers trajectory heading downwards. Injuries, turnovers (uncharacteristic up until then but would be expected to be higher playing top tier teams) and mistakes (also a function of added pressure of playing elites) in that last run contributed significantly to losses. Poor clock management contributed directly to loss against the Bengals. Wilson’s poor play with fumbles, poor clock management, inability to see the field or 2nd, 3rd pass options directly/indirectly contributed to at least 2 losses. Also agree that they are a few players away and several seasons from championship type of play. A very athletic, very mobile, accurate passing QB is the new West Coast kind of disruption in the league … and will be necessary for a team to be championship competitive for several yrs to come as this set of young QBs making the AFC/NFC final 8 have many of those shared qualities. If the Steelers are going to be championship ready in a couple of yrs, they def have the making of that caliber defense (Porter should be perennial All Pro with the learning curve from this season), have one of the most accurate, reliable kickers, unknown but talented commodities at WR and OL but QB is the position to build around. Be interested in your opinion …
2 years if they get a super star qb , Cam , TJ , probably Minkah would be in final years. Thats 2 hof level guys and another one that's close, have to rebuild offense this year , Defense wil need help by next season , Revolving door of Madness 😂.
Fire Tomlin and hire who? Like Dallas? Anvd remember Eagles fans wanted the Coach fired and the QB traded this time last year this time after they lost 7 in a row
I keep saying that must fix the dline and oline i wanna see how fields will perform with a good offensive line Tomlin is so stubborn he won't fire Pat Myer
The OL wasn't as bad, in pass pro at least, as the old washed QB made them look. Only 2 teams had a longer time to average pressure. Got that stat from Mr. Williamson.
Yeah the O line was surprisingly solid. We had a pro bowler in Seumalo, our rookie Frazier did well, and the line is young and developing, with fautanu coming back, might not be a problem next year
Matt, can you comment on the Steelers facility? I think Accrisure is the worst stadium in the NFL. I'm worried not only will we not contend for SB's, but we will be a place nobody wants to go to
2 years???? Maybe if after next year we get rid of our defensive coordinator and force Tomlin to stop dictating the offensive strategy. It is scary how badly we get out coached sometimes.
Why hasn’t there been any coaching changes on this team!? They lost the last 5 games and a Playoff game ffs. Makes zero sense to keep the same position coaches going into a new year! 🤬
Because they are happy and content with last season. They do not care about the super bowl, the fans, or winning playoff games. All they care about it being slightly above .500
Kansas City at least two or three times a game, every single game benefit from multi sorts of 15-yard penalties. Whether that be roughing the passer, a face mask, or pass interference. It seems Kansas City always ends up getting those calls and especially in the big moments. Where other teams just flat out do not get those calls and there are no flags thrown. Look no further than Buffalo this past week getting the short end of the stick on a face mask no call, and then again receiving the shaft on a 4th and short. If it happens one or two or even three games you write it up to circumstance, but when it seems to happen for Kansas City every single week it leaves me not very impressed with this year's Kansas City team. It is certainly not the Kansas City teams that have won the whole thing in prior years. This team is certainly not the same caliber as those past Kansas City teams.
If you want a superbowl, the coaching staff needs to go. Tomlin can't compete with the chiefs, bills, lions, or eagles. The defense plays too basic, and the offense is too predictable. The Steelers were elite with Dick Lebeau as DC and Bruce Arians as oc, while Tomlin stood out of the way and let them coach.
Comparing the Steelers to the Eagles, lol. Maybe they are close on defense (I don't think so, especially when you compare secondaries), but on offense? They aren't in the same galaxy. That's how much better Saquon Barkley is to anyone on our offense.
These guys are going into comedy now? I literally LOL'd at that 😂😂😂😂😂 They don't even know who their QB is 😂😂😂😂 And they're considering JUSTIN FIELDS as a serious option 😂😂😂😂😂

I needed a good laugh this morning!
The coaching gap could not be bigger between the Steelers and the Chiefs. Chiefs staff eats the Steelers staffs lunch 10 out of 10 times.

That was hard playing 3 top teams in 11 days
If they had beaten the Colts and Cowboys, it wouldn't have mattered.
@@davidgalinat4257good point!
And yeah it’s hard but 3 other teams did it as well, and they didn’t struggle the way the Steelers did so that’s not much of an excuse

Teams can turn around fast with a good coach and a good qb.
Like the Redski…….. I mean the Football Te………. I mean the Commanders.
The final four team's have a quarterback that can run.

Bills subject to two questionable spots in a row (Kincaid, Allen) late in 4Q that cost them AFCG. They deserved to be in SB59
Definitely not 2 years away this team won’t even sniff the AFCCG until Tomlin and his ego are out the door.
Anyone saying it’ll take a decade or more is genuinely delusional. Rebuilds do not take that long especially with the fact that the Steelers aren’t in a bad financial spot and they have some decent young talent
There is a huge difference in the rosters. The ol, dl and secondary are way different. It will take more than two years to catch up
Matt, it sounds like Art agrees with you. I feel like the ideal outcome of this offseason for the people in the building, is getting Fields back and drafting Milroe (both have similar skill sets). Sorry Matt, not with the current HC.
Ignorant comment

Hey Matt Damien Martinez rb from Miami 6-7 rounds 6’ 230 lbs. quick , 👍👍
Mailbag question Matt. Besides a quarterback, which, which FA should we target?
Go Steelers !!!

I would also include the handover from Dan Rooney to Art Rooney II as just as big a reason for the Steelers slow fade.
You were spoiled. Not so much now. Now you're not so interested in football huh? 😂😂😂
Yeah I’d say it’s a steep decline since Art2 came in

I like Dart to, beat Georgia, had a good career in the sec , kinda like a few qbs but they dont have the praise from draft "experts"

70s Steelers didn’t have the refs handing them every game though.
What a joke bro, the people who say the Steelers just need a QB can't remember the two decades when Tomlin had Ben
Simply put the chiefs know who they are and scheme to match that and succeed. the Steelers THINK they know who they are and scheme to match and fail. That’s coaching
No we’re not. At least five years because our coaching staff is inept
They have enough talent to make the playoffs, but they fall short of winning in the playoffs, in the last two seasons. Hopefully some really good moves in the draft and free agency could make a big difference. Thank you Matt great show.

Until they make changes on that coaching staff we are cooked. Not tomlin, but he has a history of bad hires on his staff.
