Adding two more outside receivers and the OL maturing will be critical to whoever is our QB1 next year. It'll be the difference between tomlin looking like he knows what he's doing on the offense side of the ball or not. Personnel, I think both could be fine and they could both flop. 50/50
At this point it’s hard to be optimistic about Tomlin. They are talking about the changes “he” has to make, but not addressing the fact that he is the change needed. Two years left on his contract, and it’s likely he won’t win a playoff game for his last 10 years. That would be the most unprecedented failure for any one coach with one team in NFL history. Yet Pittsburgh sits around in embarrassment as the mainstream media continues to encourage mediocrity to Pittsburgh locals. I for one agree with Mark Madden and say no more. FYI: love the show. In 1983, we had a chance to draft DAN MARINO!!! We passed him up for a defensive lineman that lasted only 4 YEARS!! So know we're probably keeping Russ and Pass on a Qb that had 4 different coordinators in 4 years that has all the potential and measurables, now I ain't saying Fields is MARINO by any stretch but Fields is 6 3" running a 4.4 , throwing a ball around 65 Yards at 227 pounds!!!
Dude.... If you can actually get a 2nd for Pickens you absolutely take it!! The NFL isn't a daycare where it becomes the Steelers obligation to baby sit this guy. He has been warned multiple times. Heck... the red flags were up when he came out of college. Nothing you or the Steelers can do to help this guy nor should they. He is a grown ass man who needs to grow up. If the Steelers decide it's time to redo the WR room; you don't want this guy around any of your young WR'S!!
It's time for the organization to think about selling the team to new ownership and let them worry about taking the team and organization forward. This way, they'll have their say in the new HC and coaching staff. Omar would probably be out also when they clean the house.
You can't replace Pickens and the offensive scheme under Smith no quality receiver will want to play in a run first offense with the passing game a after thought in today's game. That's the main reason you can't replace George because no receiver will want to play in Pittsburgh in this offensive scheme.
Russell Wilson is fine. Give the guy a little time, a couple of WR, and some innovation in the playbook. The other teams know the routine, handoff, handoff, 3rd and 7 pass from the pocket.
