They say that track is a model too and you are proving it. The time and energy you put into your track is well worth the effort because the result is astonishing. Awesome job, Steve.
Thanks Derek! I agree, we need to pay attention to all of the components of the model railroad. When we combine all of the finished pieces, we get something more than the sum of its parts.
Nice job on the ballasting and painting the tracks and ties. Definitely a long process but worth it in the end . Great share and video well done enjoyed. Have a great rest of your day
Thanks, Mike! Definitely worth the effort. All the small things that by themselves don't seem like much add up to create a greater whole. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for coming along on the journey!
Looks great love it just was wondering if maby the rust wash should be very lightly painted on some of the ties cause the rust stain as it get more rusty would wash onto the ties and ballast that I've seen in real life but hey it's your layout
I appreciate the input; I may do that as I work through the layout in the future, but I don't think I'll add the additional rust to the track I've already finished. It takes a lot of time to do each spike and I'd rather not backtrack. It would be easier to judge if the track had defined tie plates, but as of now I've just been highlighting the areas around the spikes to give them some definition. The Atlas track is easy to work with, but if I were to do it again, I'd use different track. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for taking the time to record, edit, and upload this video for us. It's much appreciated.
Thank you for watching! I hope you found the video useful for your projects!

you are a better man than me for doing ballast for 4 hours!
That was one session. It took about 20 hours to ballast those 2 tracks. It took 12 hours to paint the rust wash on the spikes. It's a big job.
Tracks looking great
Thanks Larry! Worth the effort for sure. Thanks for watching!
Excellent
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
I'm working the ballast on my layout at this time too.
Sounds good. Not a speedy job, but the track looks nice when finished. Worth the time for sure.
