  • How To Crush The Caro-Kann Fantasy Variation With Black in 6 Moves
    The Caro-Kann is a common defence against the King's Pawn Opening. It is classified as a Semi-Open Game, like the Sicilian Defence and French Defence, although it is thought to be more solid and less dynamic than either of those openings.
    Today I show you how to crush with black, people who decide to play with white the move f3, which is the fantasy variation. The Fantasy Variation, formerly known as the Tartakower or Maroçzy variation, 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.f3, somewhat resembles the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit. 3...e6 is probably the most solid response, preparing to exploit the dark squares via ...c5, though 3....g6 has been tried by Yasser Seirawan. GM Lars Schandorff and GM Sam Shankland both prefer 3...dxe4 4.fxe4 e5 5.Nf3 Bg4 6.Bc4 Nd7 7.0-0 Ngf6 8.c3 Bd6 with play being sharp and double-edged, though recent theory suggest that 7.c3! is more critical, giving a small objective advantage for White. Interesting, though probably insufficient is 3...e5. This so-called 'Twisted Fantasy Variation' aims to exploit White's weaknesses on the a7-g1 diagonal, an idea similar to 3...Qb6, a variation championed by Baadur Jobava.

    4:27 Bro with all due respect Bg4 is the best move and you can easily counter white's plans after Bc4 Nd7 c3 Bd6 0-0 Nf6. This position is now arguably favorable for Black as if White ever tries Qb3 there is more than enough compensation.

    16:44, "no real compensation for white for the pawn that they gave you." I'm wondering though why the white queen doesn't grab the pawn on d4 after the bishop trade instead of developing their knight on d7? Is it a bad move for white?

  • @dragonore2009
    @dragonore2009 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Y'know there is a seven move checkmate trap in the Caro Kann fantasy variation. When white moves to f3, you immediately challenge the center with pawn to e5. Then white takes that pawn with exd5. That is the trap. As black you have a choice to either move queen to b6 or bishop to c5. Which ever you pick first, make sure you do the other one too. White will likely make a developing move, knight to c3 and then once you have your queen and bishop in the squares I mentioned, white realizes his knight on g1 is in danger. It turns out white blunders allot here, and moves the knight from g1 to e2. Now it is just mate in two.
