To get your bearing race out weld a bead on the bearing surface and when it cools it will pop right out we did this on many auto and farm machines when my dad and I had a repair shop Happy New Year
Christine! You are still our favorite Canadian gal although you disappear from time to time. Hope you are not running from the law, lol! RQ is happy with this new project and we are too. Such a cool looking ride. Hope you are feeling better and wishing you a great 2024. Great to hear from you!
We always seem to be busy John. Getting things finished is the problem, lol. Hope you are not freezing up there and wishing a great 2024 to you and yours. Thanks for stopping in!
Jerrry the weather up here has been great for Michigan. Been is the 30s mostly and still not a snowflake on the ground. I think that is going to change next week though. Take care my friend
@@indyme2 good to hear Jerry, looking forward to checking out what you put up next. I've been doing well. Starting up a mining business focusing on various lapidary materials. I should make some videos about the rocks we have for sale
Tell the Queen I like her new wagon. You know I have always liked wagons as drag cars, remember my 78 Malibu. I don't know if you keep up with the latest trends in drag racing, but one of the big things now are drag and drive events.. In these you drive from track to track for a week and the only tools or spares you can carry are what you can put in the vehicle or a small trailer. I always thought a wagon would be prefect for these events and have seen several set up for them. The Queens wagon would look nice with a full cage, a turbo charged LS and some nice drag radials, just dreaming. I hope you and the crew have a very happy new year and I will check back with you next year.
I like your dreams, Jerry. I imagined a big block, 12' street slicks and a blower. I don't think the Rust Queen shares our dreams, lol. It's hers so I expect a cool daily driver will win out. Hope you and Jackie are well. Those Bulldogs killed FSU didn't they? Enjoy your collards and black eyed peas tomorrow. Cooked my collards yesterday and put some in the freezer for another day. As always, thank you for stopping in at the Rust Ranch.
@@indyme2 Sorry the Queen has other ideas about the wagon, I like your vision. I'm sorry to say I am a gear head and don't keep up with any of the ball sports. I would rather watch a TH-cam video on something I would find interesting. Yep, Jackie and I are going to have turnip greens and black eyed peas tomorrow. i know it's not politically correct to mention the Civil War but here goes the story I read as to why peas are considered good fortune. When Sherman was marching to sea his troops looted or destroyed all the supplies of food. They didn't think the pea fields were of any value and left them, so the winter of 64-65 the confederate troops and civilians survived on black eyed peas cooked with salt pork. I am a southerner and the war is part of my history. My great grandfather lost a leg in the war and one wing of Shermans army crossed the Ocmulgee river close to where I live now. I guess this will be the last time you hear from me this year, but I think you will hear from me next year. I hope you and the Queen and the rest of the crew have a happy New Years day.
I only follow college football. Don't care about any other ball sports either. Love the story! You usually come through with something interesting. Next year is going to be great for us and Jerry/Jackie too. Looking forward to warmer weather and getting back to the drag strip as an observer. My drag racing buddy's are giving me a hard time because I don't have a car anymore but the reflexes are now too slow and being retired kills the money flow. Happy to just hang out with them. Happy 2024. @@jerrypolk5909
@@indyme2i know what you mean my racing days ended when I retired. I would love to have a drag and drive car but I don't have the funds to build one. i also know about the reflexes. My reaction times started going up when they changed from regular flood light bulbs to LEDs. I have never been a spectator, if I can't race I don't care about just watching. I am an old bracket racer and all the tracks around here have gone to index classes and you better be quick if you want to play.
Thanks, Joe. We are looking forward to using the blast cabinet. Will try the crushed glass media.. Thanks for the tip. Cold here today. I can only guess how cold it is up in your part of the world, lol.
Merry Christmas Happy New Year! It was cool to see the inner working of a 350 Turbo! I like Queenies new 56, but that Tailgate is shot! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Thanks for sharing.. Returning Support with Full View and Like.. Hope you guys had a good Christmas.. I do enjoy watching the work you do.. Wish I knew half as much lol
Lol. There is not much metal left to weld to in that gate. I think queenie will have to look for another. I think they repop this gate too. Better ideas for sure. Hope all is well with you Leonard. Always great to hear from you, Sir.
That race that's jammed, I had that happen on the road with my Airstream trailer. Took a good file and small chisels, filed two grooves about 3/4" apart. Then with the chisel started to chip away at the piece in between. I only got about 1/8" in then kept "stair stepping " pieces out until the race finally cracked. Fine polish the the surface and and should be good. Very time consuming.
Will give it a try, John. All the small cuts, heating and beating with a chisel haven't broken it yet but the file or maybe a carbide burr and Dremel may. Your idea on the door hinge worked, BTW. I found a thin, small fine tooth blade and put it in a recip saw with controllable speed and carefully cut the top hinge. Had to be really careful or I would have beaten the door skin up. Once the hinge let loose, the door dropped enough for me to get easy access to the lower hinge. Thanks!
@@indyme2 run bead all the way around if possible. This should shrink the race enough to pull it out. I have used a slide hammer with a hook on the back side of the race to pull it out.
Thanks, Brian. I think she is only considering a matte clear coat to protect it. It will be parked outside all the time. I am going to leave my old Dodge truck , rust and all, as is. I like the old survivor look too.
Why can’t you paint the car. This fake patina craze is awful. That car deserves to look better. I probably won’t watch the rest of the videos if you don’t respect the car enough to paint it.
Actually the patina is real. Nothing fake. It's been parked outside all its life. As I recall, she mentioned painting the car but leaving the top as is, protected with a clear coat. We both love that green color. It would look awesome fully painted but it is her car and her money. The cost being the main problem for her and many others who do this as a hobby. Thank you for stopping in, Christine.
The queen has her work cut out for her!!! Looking great. I’m excited to see something get finished 😆
She is a hard worker, Luke. Our best to you and the family. Gold video or two coming up soon!

Try welding a bead on the inside of the race. Let it cool down and that should shrink it down enough for it to come out.
