  • Naval Radio Station Jim Creek is a very important military installation in the North Cascades. It's also home to some of the largest old-growth trees in the state...and one of Ralph Munro's favorite places.

2nd most beautiful jobsite I’ve ever done. I see the tower paint job is holding up.
    Cheers

Visited NAVRADSTA Jim Creek back in the 1970s when I was a newly-minted Coast Guard radioman, stationed aboard the then-brand-new USCGC POLAR SEA (WAGB 11) in Seattle. Their antenna field and the power at which they transmit were VERY impressive.

youre right, I did not know about Jim Creek, I was just reading an article about Russias latest nuclear targets, thats what brought me here. I am also a proud native born washingtonian :(

Right after the fall of the USSR Jim Creek was an open base and anyone could get on the base. We would go fishing at the lakes and hike in the woods regularly. Access is no longer available to the local civilian population. Jim Creek is also a primary target in the event of an nuclear exchange with Russia.
