Thank you for this long awaited review! Considering that the Lynx 2 is not a very demanding C wing (perhaps it is fair to say that it is a "low-C" glider), what would be the reason to pick a BASE 2 instead of the Lynx 2? I mean...if you look at the EN testing score, the Lynx 2 is almost identical to Base 2 (except for the need of the folding lines that force it to be categorised as a C class). Yes, it has more AR than Base 2, but not really much more. It is similar to RISE 4 or EXPLORER 2, and those are EN-B. When compared to SIGMA 11, is the LYNX 2 a more approachable wing (as a first EN-C)? By approachable I mean easier to manage in a very turbulent air (dampening more, and being more stable), with ENB level recovery from most situations. ...asking for a friend.. ;) Thanks! ps.. any word on a BASE 3 this year??
Thanks for the comprehensive review! I have been flying my Lynx 2 for ~60h and love it. I enjoy launch characteristics, stability, speed and ability. I also like landing behavior very much, it's a perfect wing for hike and fly racing etc.
Carlo, I'd love to hear your opinion on the Mac Para Verve! I personally have been flying mine for about 15 hours, and I absolutely love it! It has a good combination of semi light material with full nitinol rods. On glide with photons it seems that I have a bit of an edge, but I'm also on the larger size, and has great agility, with awesome stability. I haven't taken a single collapse on it yet and I have flown it on California days where some thermals have reached upwards of constant 7m/s. It is my first two liner though, so I don't really have a point of reference compared to others only the other guys that I fly with
Flying along with others, I would say that these "performance differences" to 2 liner Cs are so small, so it is neglectable for everyone that does not fly on full bar a lot. For me, small and easy packing and general flying behavior is much more important. But people are different... I have flown the Tala for a couple of years and liked that glider a lot. Nowadays I do not fly enough to fly a C, but if I did the Lynx2 seems like a "must try".
Very nice video, Carlo! I was in Columbia for the first time in late January this year! I recognize 7 launch, and a lot of the landmarks from your flights. The sound of the bromeliad frogs brings back happy memories of evenings at my hotel. Where were you staying? That looks like a pretty great place.
Codex ,Mint, Scala 2 are the winner Trinity. 😊😅 BGD has no advantage over these . Anyway great footage, review as usual . Was it made at Pal's hacienda?
Yes, having tested both extensively, the Lynx 2 is significantly more "monobloc" than the Cure 2; it moves around noticeably less in rough air. I didn't find the Cure 2 that squirrelly in rough air for a mid to high end 2-liner; it's more that I find the Lynx 2 is pretty solid and comfortable, for a light mid C wing. The original Cure - which I personally liked but would class as a hot C i.e. a D in C clothing - was a lot more active in rough air. It was also far less forgiving on the stall/spin point. Same for it's light version, the Lynx 2. I found the Lynx 2 pretty comfortable for the category, light mid C.
@@flybubblecarlo Thanks for your feedback. I dropped back to a Base 2 lite for 18 months due to school (also have a Cure 2). Now that my thesis is submitted looking to flying a lot more…
"Folding lines used"... and 1 C for increasing brake pressure or maybe not enough brake travel ? Unless you're accelerated, it even looks like a EN-A glider. I mean this is essentially the certification of a ION6 but with shorter brakes. Yet that's a 6.2 vs 5.2 AR wing. Time to start another fruitless debate on the EN certification process : D
Didn't enjoy very much the lynx 2. I found it quite unstable in active air, especially on roll axis, a lot of small tip collapses too, without any kind of consequences but still... i had more expectations honestly, as a happy former pilot of the sigma 11. For the rest is a nice allround classic en-C wing.
I have been flying my Lynx 2 for ~60h and find it very stable in active air, both at trim and on bar (there it even gets more stable from my impression). The soft ears are an intended feature and are used for kinda communication purposes: the glider would tell you that the air is not as good as you may have thought before. 😉 However, I wouldn't even call them wing collapses... it's more of an acoustic feedback from my experience. I haven't had a single collapse so far - in contrast to the High-B glider I owned before. 🙈

as always a great video. Will you also test the SWING Stellar RS? It is also a 2.5 liner but a high B wing. would be an interesting comparison.

Great to hear!
how demanding is it compared to a high B ?
@@PhilippeLarcherSkywalk Mint as relaxing as your high B, BGD has tendency for flapping depens on conditions.
Nice review ! Love this wing, it deserves more success !

Great video!
Thank you!
Wow, that’s one really funky looking thing. I don’t mean the wing Carlo, I’m talking about that shirt! 😂
Nancy likes it, that's what matters! 🕺🪩😎

I gotta say, in competition compared to the Artik R, the perf difference was very noticeable
3 liner cause I love top landings on big ears
Which harness did you prefer ? I see that you flew with Arrow P and Wood valley RACE ? Which one feel more stable ? Thanks for the update !

The Cauca Valley in Colombia does seem to be a pretty great place for paragliding! 🪂

Did you test the LT2, a C 2 liner from the brasilian SOL Paragliders....
So would you say it‘s a bit less squirrelly in rough air than the Cure 2?
Lynx2 has lower aspect ratio than cure 2, in general it means less squirrelly

How far is it from an high b? Certification wise it's basically a b.

I think the collapses of the tips are typical for bgd, they call it progressive stability
Interesting, I have the opposite impression, I found it to be really stable and relaxed in active air, haven't gotten a collapse with it yet...

It's more than one year I now fly twoliners (ArtikR) but my comparison was whit my best wing ever: the sigma 11.
Small tip collapses are part of Bruce's design philosophy - progressive instability.
