Yami started Bhaidyuj to protect Yama from death.
There is a temple to Yamraj in the south also, in a village called Srivanchiyam or Thiruvanchiyam, in Thiruvarur district in Tamil Nadu. This 1110 year old temple is dedicated to Shiv bhagwan, with a temple to Yamraj in the outermost parikrama. It is customary to pray to Yamraj first and not Ganesh bhagwan (as is traditional) before proceeding into the temple to worship Shiv Bhagwan. This temple is old and beautifully constructed, and a must-see for all visitors to Tamil Nadu.

Mrukhando Rishi was given with two option by Lord Shiva:-
1) Dharmatma purta but Chirayu
2) Adharmi with 100 years of life
Markhandeya was not scared of Yamraj. Infact he requested Yamraj to spare him some time so that he can complete Shiva aradhana then can go along with Yamraj. However Yamraj denied & as death time was near. so on.....

Amazingly put together absolutely loved it!! The only thing I wish to understand is isn't Yamraj supposed to be a guide and companion who takes us thru the death process? Or is he capable of taking your soul? Even though he's known as the God of death I don't feel he's dangerous or unjust who takes your soul. Instead he's someone who makes the journey easier

this Temple is actually at Bharmour rather than in Chamba, where we have 84 sidh temple. The local folklore states that 9 Nath, 84 Sidh, 64 Yoginiya and Navagraha where alloted there work by Lord Shiva/Bholenath/Mahadev here on this land or temple area, there is also a mountain range for trekking know as Mani Mahesh, which comes under 5 Gupt Mansarovar yatra or trekking holy mountains..
