Hugs to you and prayers for peace. I had severe anxiety with constant panic attacks in the first trimester with my son who is 17 now. I was 36 when I conceived him and considered “advanced maternal age”. I had two back to back miscarriages before he was conceived so I know that had a lot to do with it. My heart goes out to you, but it WILL be ok ❤.

Weekly updates!!! Woohoooo!!! You look amazing Megan I just wish ur mind felt better. I totally understand anxiety. I’m so sorry. I really hope at your appt they agree to let you have the ultrasound. That wud be helpful. I understand the mom guilt and the depression and thinking of all the things that could go wrong. I felt like I was listening to myself. You are not alone!! You are so strong and will get through these weeks. Just remember it’s all the crazy hormones. You got this💪🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️

Praying that at your appt of thurs they can give you some peace of mind with an early ultrasound. I had terrible anxiety with my last pregnancy and was also mildly depressed. It's something so exciting but you've been let down before so it's such a mindf***. I was also not sleeping very well and got stressed about being anxious/depressed/stressed so I totally get it. Big hugs!!!❤

I hope that they will be able to help you with the anxiety 🤞. I'll be seeing a barnmorska that specializes in mental health around 25 weeks due to birth PTSD. Hopefully your barnmorska will be able to offer help as well ❤

Hey Megan, I was just wondering what brand Maca powder you used? I tried a capsule bit I think the powder would be better. Thanks!

Even though its horrible, it is reassuring that we are not alone. Last year I was pregnant (later lost the baby) and literal war broke out (Ukraine, I live in Sweden) and the anxiety was all consuming. Four losses later, now pregnant again and totally have the nightly downward spiral you were talking about. Going to see the dr tomorrow and hoping for an early US (5w5d).

Hey Stina! First of all, I am so sorry for your losses and all the anxiety and stress that come with it. But, congratulations on this pregnancy and I’m sending all the baby dust that this is your sticky precious little rainbow baby! Also please let me know if you’d like to connect somewhere more personal like Facebook; I can always use more friends here in Sweden and it would be nice to have someone who understands what all this anxiety is like who is also due in May 2024 😍❤️ I was about 20 weeks pregnant when the Ukrainian war started and that put me in a major tailspin of panic, I’ll never forget. Finland and Sweden rushed to join NATO, and people on my expat mommy group started sharing articles on how to give birth unassisted at home because no one knew how far-reaching that war would become.. it’s definitely a source of my continued worry, even today. That one hit too close to home, and now I know many Ukrainian families who DID have to flee, and the heartbreak and fear surrounding that whole situation doesn’t really leave, does it? 💔

I don’t know where you live but most cities have places you can go for private ultrasounds and it is very reasonably priced….it is great for seeing the heartbeat and peace of mind! I know girls that go in every few weeks ❤️ I also don’t know how old you are but insurance cover NIPT after 34

I live very rurally in Sweden, so our healthcare system here is a bit different than private insurance-based systems, unfortunately. We do have private ultrasound clinics - the one nearest to me is about a 45 minute’s drive away, but I went to it a couple times before in my last pregnancy and it was a great experience! - but it costs the equivalent of about $100 per scan and between that and gas / time, it’s not something I think I’ll do this time. But of course, I say that now 😅 Ask me again in a couple weeks and we’ll see if my tune has changed 😄 NIPT is only covered here in my municipality of Sweden if you first “screen positive” in the combined test. Otherwise it costs the equivalent of like $1,200 in USD if you go private. Not something I can easily squeeze into our budget at this time.

I'm so excited for you. Even though I had an early loss, I know I'm super fertile and my other half. I have so many questions for my dr. One being I have a history of anxiety already, and I'm a type a planner. I totally agree about early care. I saw my lines get darker. I had a positive that was the bfp. I learned alot. But, i was so anxious not testing after 5 weeks. Also, do you continue to take any of your supplements you took during ttc? I wasn't sure on cq10, and the maca? I have a dr appt tomorrow with Dr with a list of questions. I'm hoping in the next few weeks to reset and having a positive before the year ends. 🙏 can't wait to see your journey. ❤

Ugh, anxiety is such a monster, isn’t it? It’s the thief of so much joy 😭 As for supplements, I stop taking many, but continue with others. The only ones I take in pregnancy are my prenatal daily, Omega-3 fish oils daily until 36 weeks, extra vitamin D daily, probiotics with L.rhamnosus and L.reuteri included, collagen, and this time I’ll be continuing to take NAC and alpha lipoic acid through pregnancy too. I don’t take maca, CoQ 10, or some of the other ones because there isn’t enough evidence to suggest it’s safe. So I just err on the side of caution 🤍

@ExpatFitLife thanks, I looked it up, but thought I might ask just to be safe. Honestly pregnancy surprised me. I was just a ball of emotions. Anxiety of am I ok, is my baby ok? Can I be excited? Definitely working on anxiety and getting back into my fitness. It helped me so much when I started thinking too much lol. I hope you show your workout routine or things your doing to stay healthy while pregnant. I will be referencing back. 😀

Tell them your periods are irregular so you aren't sure of your last period and they'll do a dating ultrasound 🤣🤣🤣

Progesterone causes the anxiety I think doesn’t it. I always feel so great first half of my cycle then second half the depression hits.
I found mine got loads better when I started taking a B100 complex. Maybe you could try that? I could make eye contact again: honestly I used to feel so socially weird in my second half of cycle .. I couldn’t face speaking to people or anything. It’s defo helped taking a high B complex. Think it’s the B6 that helps but you need all the B’s in balance so I just take a complex.
Also magnesium can really help the wrestles ness and sleep. Xx

Omg.. I HAD NO IDEA 🤯🤯🤯 I just googled it now, and yes! It does appear to be the cause of anxiety, depression and stress 🤯🤯 First of all, THANK YOU for sharing this. I just knew it had to do with hormones, but without knowing exactly what, it really did make me feel like I was broken. But now I can understand it in this context and it will make such a difference to just view it as a “normal” crappy first tri symptom and try to ignore it. Thank you so so much for making this connection for me!
