  • In Christmas 1985 I started the restoration of the VL 1932
At the premiere, I sinned recklessness leaving the oil pump with too short a regulation, to prevent leakage of oil in the engine. The effort on the sidecar and the heat of Mallorca played a dirty trick. It took me a long time on how to improve the lubrication system "Total-loss".
should be "invisible" and cancel and leave the original again ... and this complicates things.
Failure to do so, it would have been for me, a unpardonable sacrilege.
Research for suitable pump, the speed ratio for proper flow, the pressure relieving circuit etc. etc. would be most interesting pictures
But they are not, dirty hands, the camera will not be etc.
It's the bike I most enjoyed and almost always with sidecar, in extreme heat conditions and mountain tours (after Switzerland, Spain is the most mountainous country in Europe)
Despite the boldness of "modification" I am very satisfied.
    Thank you for visiting.

Very interesting and what a beautiful machine, I have done some restorations (5 Harleys 1940-1969) and can recognize some of the issues, yes one has to be careful with oil lub and then there are the primary and rear chain at least the primary which can be critical if not properly lub, very nice of you to post these, it would be nice to travel to Spain with my old Duo Glide which I have had for nearly 40y ears. I have a 1949 wl can't find any video of recirculating oil like on this great build. They say check the color , froth, and the temp change of the oil tank. This VL percolates like a coffee pot. Fantastic!

😄Haaa! the same goes for my Panhead. You have to wait for the tank to heat up or you may see some foam. In the VL not even that !! On British motorcycles you can see the witness back. He wanted to solve both problems by improving lubrication and seeing the source of the reassuring oil return. Thanks for watching my videos. Best regards. Loscar👍✌

Another one of the wonderful rebirths i have enjoyed viewing. Many of which twice or more, and at .50 speed. Somehow these Bikes, like Family, have Their own beauty and excuse for being. -gilpin 10-19-16

Amazing work on the recirculating oil pump,
Im amazed at your skills and abilities.
Creating such a solution was remarkable.
I wish you made more information available on how you manufactured and modified it.
I would love to do the same to my 1930

Thank you Justin, for your comments.😊 This modification was made 35 years ago !!! 😳 Today I would do it better or rather, I would not. Your 1930 VL with its original total loss lubrication system, if properly regulated, is fine. As the manual indicates, pump some oil at high speeds. Change it every 500km. Putting fresh oil is very simple. Check when draining the oil that its volume corresponds to three complete pumps after one stroke and if not, regulate the pump. Today's oils are far superior to those of the 1930s. Add synthetic 2-stroke (3%) oil to your gasoline and enjoy your VL for a long time. It is my advice. Best regards. Loscar✌👍

Thank you for the advice it is appreciated I will do that.
However I am still so curious about the improvements you made. If you would find the time to send me a simple drawing or sketch of how your pressure pump system operates I would be very grateful it’s hard to tell from the pictures in your video. Justinmonti@outlook.com

@@LoscarMotorcycles Interesting information, yes I agree it should be alright with the original but one has to put it together and carefully check these finer details, if assembled carefully according to manual there is very little maintenance which still surprises people, the key is to emphasize "carefully and meticulously" applied to finer details during restoration, side by side valve engines always start at the first or second kick! Greetings from Sweden C

Hey there, I'm currently restoring a 1932 VL with sidecar and I was wondering about the hardware holding on the spare tire. Do you have any leads for the retaining wing nut? Also, did you have issues routing the primary oiler tube through the back of the engine? Mine wont seem to fit... =(
