    You keep doing you brotha man. You are clearly doing something right, look at the audience that you have attracted and done so in a rather short amount of time. Do what makes you happy, I’m just glad you take us a long for the ride 🤘🏼

      You mean like the “safety” rules of allowing anglers to jump in the water and submerge themselves to retrieve fish?

    Brian My wife and I foremost love you as the person you are. We met you at I-Cast last year and you are the real deal. We think your decisions are always solid ones because you weigh everything out and just dont go with just emotions. You are correct though we are always confused about all the different tours rules etc. This does take away some of the enjoyment as we never fully inderstand all the different leagues how they tie together and things like that. We wish you Gods protection good fishing and we look forward to watching you fish.

    Great answers! You could have easily given a very generic answer and not gotten into the trenches with it - you don't owe an in depth answer to anyone. With that being said, I appreciate the truth and listening to you get gritty with it.
    I don't BLAME you one bit especially since you have no control over who your co-angler is going to be. A successful day on the eater is very much so driven by confidence, if I have no confidence in whats going on in the back of the boat it makes it so much harder up front.
    There are SOOOO MANY little things you can't control in a co-angler and their antics, experience level, sense of urgency etc.. You have so much skin in the game and soooo much to lose and or gain.
    Based on those reasons and just flat out liking the schedule, it certainly sounds like you have made the best choice for your career, preserving your brand and it's continued success!

    I really appreciate your honesty and willingness to answer “messy” questions. And I don’t blame you a bit for wanting to fish by yourself and without a co-angler. This is your livelihood and you have a lot invested in it. A
    co-angler can really affect your approach and is a variable you should not have to deal with.

  • @vrt1032
    @vrt1032 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the update. Logic makes LOTS of sense... no co-angers, bigger top prizes, no co-anglers... its YOUR focus, YOUR day. I do think BPT is just a "senior citizen angler protection" firewall for many.... it is what it is and i'd say in 5 years most of them will be gone and then things will break for you guys. Good luck.

  • @joeg1709
    @joeg1709 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It all depends on your goals. If you have a goal of the highest level of bass fishing, the Elites are the goal in my opinion. And the Opens are the only avenue for that. Personally, I couldn't stomach how the rules change every year in MLF and the target is never stable.
    Buy if you just want to maximize your opportunities for making a living and have fun, just fish whatever schedule fits your wants that year and grow your experience.
    But, ultimately, do what makes you happiest and points you toward your goals. I enjoy your honesty and what you share, so regardless of your decisions I'll keep watching.

  • @krr6581
    @krr6581 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I also prefer to fish by myself in a tournament. Co-angler’s by and large are good folks but fishing with them can be a pain. I’ve lost tournaments because co- anglers saw a piece of cover where I knew good fish were laying in and they threw ahead of the boat right in the heart of the cover and either catching or losing the fish I knew was there. Many just don’t understand. Fishing by myself I don’t have to worry about them.

  • @team-d
    @team-d 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Respect. Wish you the best and hope you qualify for the BPT by the end of next year! Have a hard time believing anyone who would qualify would turn down zero entry fees, free cup events based on performance, free tv/video exposure, and free heavy hitters based on performance. I’m turning 60 this coming year, and I think most of us OGs still have a fondness for BASS, but I think MLF has done a lot to increase exposure for the sport (still haven’t figured out if that’s good or bad though, I live in your general neck of the woods and don’t like what I see happening at Hartwell - too many tournaments and too many peeps fishing). Good luck this season brotha!

    I may get some heat for this, but I think the changes MLF is doing is for anglers to start being able to compete against Wheeler, DC and a few other you always see winning in MLF. Now changing to a 5 fish limit will shake things up in the long run. I have always been a fan of BASS but know what you are saying about the amount of the boats in an open. Being a Co-angler myself it can be a bit intimidating for sure. Either way you do what is right for you and your family. I'll be there rooting for you.

    There are so many opinions out there when it’s not your dime and I get it but the sports doesn’t need one tournament trail. I personally would love to see an solo trail without an co angler a private location and no weight in and where I’m getting at these pros works for these area on the water to someone local to be fishing the next day when your fishing for $100,000 total disrespect but that’s my 2cents. I’m personally a fan of yours and many others in every league, that being said, I was happy when you returned to the Pro Circuit,even though MLF disrupted things,I thought you made the right choice at the time. The BPT has made some major mistakes and it’s hypocrisy is what I have an issue with and it has mistreated anglers IMO. A champion will not be held back and I see you as a Champion🎣✊ I know many of the FLW people, both in fishing and production and there’s good people,in fact some of the Best people throughout the MLF League, and of course BASS was able to get some of The Best from FLW into their league and I love some of them as well, even though I took it personally when it all went down. Everyone wants the sport to grow and with that comes growing pains, and I look forward to everyone respecting each other’s abilities and professionalism 💯 Best Of Success To You 😜✊💯🎣

    • @BrianLatimerFishing
      @BrianLatimerFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The more I sit back and look at it the more obvious things become. You notice that literally everything the FLW had has been improved or a minimum of sustained and supported except the FLW tour? The BFL the Toyota’s the college tournaments all have championships no payout deductions no entry increases yet the Tour has been disassembled. That’s very obvious. The year off was a good experience and coming back was a good experience too. I just don’t see where we’re going.

    I get what you are saying about it seeming more like a lateral move rather than a step up. Most of the guys in the elites fish the opens as well so it’s not like fishing the elite series pits you against better anglers. Qualifying for the elites just allows you the opportunity to fish for more money. Same with MLF and the pro tour (invitationals) and the BPT. Same anglers, same bodies of water, just more money at the top level. I’ve even heard some guys say winning an open is harder because there are more guys in the field who have a legit shot each week.

    Ok do you have to Buy your own Boats and Fishing Gear, tackle etc.? Is Professional Angler your only Job.? I figured I’d ask a couple questions, I’m an Old DAV and wouldn’t be here if I didn’t truly enjoy your content and the Channel. Semper Fidelis my Friend

    Quite frankly. I don't know the difference and or care about the type of tournament. You make good content that I like watching and will continue to watch. Keep up the good work.

    Fishing tournament are brutal , away from wife and kids , the frustration sometimes about no catching the winning fish and the time in the water under terrible weather condition , people see fron a far and believe that every thing is cumbaya , but we enjoyed anyway 🤣
