    Love that bike!
when i was a teenager(15 or 16), i had auto shop in high school for four classes, and i asked my teacher that was also a doctor, and a race car driver, if i could build a conversion for my ysr micro mobility street bike, he said yes.
i had purchased a non running ysr, and a crashed liquid cooled honda cr 80 which still had a good engine, it had jetting done to the carburetor, and aftermarket reeds, and the cylinder head was bored out, with porting and polishing as well.
i made the motor mounts in class. i remember like 70% of the class wanted to help me build the bike. i even made a custom aluminum dashboard which held the gauges (i had added extra gauges to the dashboard)
i remember thinking when it was all done, it sound really great (i had custom welded an exhaust pipe, the entire pipe from engine to tailpipe, which was a mixture of a pro circuit pipe, and the original stock pipe so that i could make the pipe fit, and bolt up to the ysr)
the ysr liquid cooled 80 was fast but i remember thinking that the fun was done, because i enjoyed building the bike.
i road the bike to school for awhile, and sold the bike to a friend that said it was their dream bike.
    great memories!
    nice bike!

This makes me remember my old Derbi FDX. It was downtuned by law in the Netherlands to run ~27 mph. I replaced the exhaust with an expansion type and the darn thing ran a certified 50mph, limited by gearing. I bet it would have gotten up to 60 if I changed that. Great memories... I remember when I got it, and I followed a pal home from work. He used to pull away easy, and then I stayed right with him. He was honestly surprised. He had a Malaguti phantom F12 scooter. We're talking the late 90's. And we were 16-17. What a rush!

I'm surprised other people know about this bike.. No holds barred full fairing 2 stroke performance motorcycle.. The buck stopped nowhere. Absolutely nowhere. Except displacement. The only limitation on this bike is displacement that is why I love it. 50cc is a cool displacement because it's the minimum used to move full grown people the world over, this is about as far as one can take 50cc, nearly. That said if one modified a modern KTM 50 SX it'd probs be capable of around 11-16hp.

More noise than speed sounds like clutch is slipping slightly and yeah it's ok for a 80cc but compared to a 85cc motocross it's slow but might just want a good tune bigger carb and modify the airbox but to be fair it's good for it's age looks mint condition very collectable.

    People don't understand.
Yes $3k is the going price for a clean unit.
And yes I can buy all sorts of things for $3k.
There are few left in good condition.
This thing also has expensive after market wheels, not mentioned.
It's supply and demand. If you really want one. You'll have to pay the price.
Although it is funny how that works. I can easily get a GSXR, CBR or like my early ZX11 for the $3-3.5k

    • @Harley_the_Sosig

I'm in the PNW. They rarely come up locally.
Of course the price would drop if the motor is eff'ed.
I was only referring to the asking prices here in Washington.
I had one back in the day.
      I put a KX125 motor in mine.
Just happened to have the engine kicking around so I shoved it in there.
They were popular at one time. Most were beat to death. Now finding a clean one is difficult and they want way too much $$.

I would consider that if there was a demand.
I'm not sure there is one currently.
There was a nice clean stock unit that came up on my local Craigslist for something like $3200 USD.
Then sometime later it showed up again.
I haven't really given the YSR much thought lately.
Their asking price is typically too high for a little toy.
I did find a set of wheels and swingarm on eBay pretty cheap awhile ago. Purchased for a pocket bike project I'd like to get started on. Tiny bike, GS1100 power 😳

Pocket bikes. They have been around for years. I had a $500 25cc Sport Pocketbike in 2007. 3 gears, headlights, mini disc brakes, horn, ...etc etc.

To find one of these in good condition, registered with a title is not very common. These are rare little gems to collectors. Most are beat to hell with no titles. Two stroke street legal toys are bad ass. Anyone can pick up a street legal four stroke. You’ll hardly see these little guys on the road. That’s why people pay top dollar for examples like this

  • @gtgodbear6320
    @gtgodbear6320 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Can you make one of those street legal. Replace it with an 85cc with a 110/112cc Bore, crank, valves, exhaust, ECU, tune, ect... that would be a blast driving around Country Roads around my town. I really want to make an 85cc dirt bike street legal. 85 Suburban my favorite bike since I was a child and I still want one at 36
