Fantastic video with on board cameras is really intersting to se both instruments the view from behind the pilot & the on wing view too makes this fascinating! Thanks so much for adding this!
Could you show us a video from the start, looking down on the pedals? I'm interested in how much the pilot really needs to correct with the rudder. thank you!
Thank you for posting this without music. Though noticed the pilot is not a fan of coordinated turns if the rear turn coordinator is telling the truth. :)
Nice video. Would be even better if not "improved" by TH-cam's "anti shake fix" processing, that it often applies to "fix" a shaky video. Massive side effect of this processing is that sometimes parts of the plane look like made of rubber, bending and twisting due to the processing trying to make things "smooth" and as result the overal motion looks unnatural at times. Most videos look better when the "fix video" checkbox is left unchecked.
+Pater McGarry Photography Yes it does. Very clever of the owners to have a Buchon QEC package made for it to save wear on the DB engine. There is a new Me-109G restoration that used a clever Allison installation and I could see the Allison being used for another QEC package if owners want to go easy on the rare DB engines.
What happened to this plane? I know its been restored but where is it now, I've never seen it flying. Its great to see a 109 restoration with a DB605 in it....
+Andrew Ward Still with Hangar 10, but it is for sale on aircraft broker pages. Hangar 10 now has three, all painted in the same colors. Two of them are for sale that I know of.
Sweet, so can I visit Hangar 10 to see it? I guess they are wanting many millions for this, it being a two seater I assume it's the only one with a DB605 in it...
+It's the only two-seat G-12 flying, and there is an original two-seat Buchon that just started flying. There are now around nine or ten DB-powered Bf-109s in the air. I thought Hangar 10 was going to offer flights in the G-12 but that may have changed after a recent accident with a death in the UK. Carrying PAX in a vintage warbird is getting expensive for insurance.
@@FiveCentsPlease yes I understand insurance is very expensive for vintage aircraft now, I live in the UK and I have see the result of accidents, more people get hurt in cars, including vintage cars but that doesn't get the adverse press as vintage aircraft :(
Even War Thunder doesn't have this thing yet it has the 'Z' model that is two BF's linked together. Interesting. Longer fuselage much like the Dora Focke-Wulfe. Wonder why they went with a two seater?
+SCYTHE2535 Because no two-seater survives today. The wartime two-seat G-12 was modification and not a true production aircraft. This plane was originally a Buchon, so it was built into a G-12. The advantages today will be to help with pilot transition and training on the type (just like during the war when pilot attrition was an issue) and to sell flights to the public if that is desired and legal. One clever thing that the owners did with this G-12 was to also build the Merlin engine package as original on the Buchon, so they can fly it or ferry it with a Merlin engine to save wear on that rare DB engine.
+tisoy909 The G-12 was a two-seat conversion from WW2. It was not a production model but converted from existing aircraft. The canopy is correct for the G-12. top.scalemodels.ru/images/2012/02/1328966142_3.jpg
Ja!
Thank you very much fot this fantastic video ! Question, why do you fly with flaps full in normal flight? Is it because the flight is so short, or another reason? Regards, Frans
I read somewhere that short pilots were encouraged to opt for some fighter aircraft. The 109’s cockpit, especially, was cramped and uncomfortable for average-to-tall men
Yes. The G-12 was a two-seater trainer conversion from existing aircraft. Only about 100 were made, although it was originally planned to make about 500. This is not an original trainer, but a rebuild and the owner decided to build a two-seater.
Why the full flaps? Flaps up next time and show us what this bird can do. Or is this plane so expensive that they are afraid to put it through its paces?
Standard landing pattern for this beast, with flaps. You will notice he doesn't have them during the cruise part. Those are not really as easy to land as Skylanes ;-)
You're right.....I went back and re-watched it......I've heard tales of pilots remarking on the narrow landing gear of the 109 making for tricky landings.
Don't get me started on this sim again! I played that game for years.....I guess I better go dig out my rudder pedals and stick..... Thanks for the update...I tried the game a few months ago and the graphics were the same as 10 years ago....
It will remain in Germany with Hangar 10, who do offer flight experiences in several aircraft. You will have to contact them to see if they will include the G-12 for the public or only for prospective pilot training.
It was originally a Spanish Buchon and flew for a while. The last rebuild project converted it to a Bf-109 standard and also add the G-12 conversion. Vintage V12s in California is a leading builder for the DB engines now and built the engine for this one and others. There are very few people in the world with the expertise to work on the big V12s.
Here we have people complaining about the swastika. Meanwhile I personally found it was a really neat and clever censorship :P Nonetheless, a beautiful plane

Nicely done rear cockpit. Much more in keeping with the original design than certain Spitfires with a bubble hump behind.
just watching this magnificent aircraft gives me goosebumps, great job guys!!!
the sound is AMAZING I could listen to it for hours
The best video i have seen from the 109 ! Thank u
Its absolutely awesome that they have restored this wonderful aircraft
Wunderschoen !!! Und der Sound !!! Grossartig ! Danke auch das keine Musik unterlegt ist... Danke fuers Hochladen, Gruesse aus Alaska!
Es ist eine original Flugzeuge oder nichts? Danke und Grüßen von Mexiko.
Brilliant! Love the POV experience
Beautiful job of flying and absolutely amazing job of videography!
Wunderschöne´s Muster, tolle Arbeit freu mich auch auf das was noch kommen kann !!
does it sound as good as David hasslehoff.

Was für ein fantastischer Anblick.
Fantastic sound and great clip..well done!
Danke für diese Aufnahmen!
Super
Mein Opa hat auch damals die 109 geflogen...
Ist aber heil nach Hause gekommen.....
Super klang....

There’s no backseat

It would seem this one is set up for a co-pilot. I'd ride in it for sure!
Nice too see her with the DB605 rather than the merlin

least you hear the action not drowned out by some glorified music covering everything up
Any DCS 109 pilots taking notes ?
yeah DCS sucks everytime i saw real 109´s !
way cool and twin sticks and such a beautiful plane
Any chance of filming it (rather than using a digital) so the propeller stops running backwards?
I am pretty sure that this one has a quick exchange facility i.e. Merlin to DB. Almost certain.

Lovely plane and video, at start up there was no-one on the wing cranking the inertia starter. Is it a 605 or has it been modified?
+KirkyandKa Sunways The original inertia starter can also be spun up with electrical power from a start cart or a battery.
Hello Martin, the DB engine is care at Stuttgart ? 🤔
Not seen this one before.
Welche Luftschraube und Ata Einstellungen benutzen sie ?
Oooh, a Spanish 109. Very nice.

I belive there are only 3 beautiful fighter aircraft.
The Spitfire, the Fokker DR tryplane and the ME109 (preferably in the late F or early G models)

This is the first or second test flight after the plane was rebuilt. They are checking for issues on the first flights.
And good thing they're up at 2:34 since the airspeed is about 300 km/h, and vNE is 250 with flaps extended on the Bf109.

The first two-place G-12 trainer to be rebuilt to flying condition. Originally a Buchon airframe.

Not allowed on flying aircraft registered in Germany. (And other European countries.)
