I have written this before my Grandfather was a Ngapuhi from Takahiwai Pittman was the family name. we lost him in the 1970s, but I grew up with this wonderful Maori grandfather, who raised my father and aunty. My Nana and Grandfather lived in Avondale Auckland in a nice house, my fond memories of staying there were, feeding the chooks living off fresh vegetables out of his garden, and him offering me a shilling to buy lollies at the football when he came to watch my brothers play. We never heard him speak like this lady, but he got on with his life and raised two beautiful children, people to be proud of.I guess my only comment to this lady would be come to Australia honey and see how the Aboriginals are treated, then you will find we do live as ONE in NZ and it’s people like you who are causing division and racism. My Grandfather is buried two rows away from Bruce McLaren at Waikumete Cemetery NZs best driver and as my brother said at his funeral NZs worst driver. Proud to have you as my Grandfather Waka RIP.

You do make a lot of good points that are politically correct. However, the reality is different.
When british first came to NZ, do you really think British was there to “protect” the maoris? History has always been about taking away and taking over. Look at Ukraine and Russia. Look at Israel.
You cannot co-govern a country, especially if one race is trying to massively benefit their own race.
Negative effects of colonisation? What about the other race of NZ? For example, I am originally from Korea, living in NZ for over 20 years, with my parents initially coming to this country with couple millions of dollars that they do not have anymore. Am I meant to get caught up this bullshit race war where Maoris are constantly asking for more rights? What about the other race that are working their ass off just to survive? Perception that maoris don’t work and they are all on benefits have not changed - this is what I used to hear back when I was a little kid, and now, I still hear it and yes, I see it as well.
Unfortunately, NZ is not a Maori country. It is colonised by British, and now, there are many more other races that have lived in this country for generations and this other race all deserve to live in this country as their home with EQUAL RIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES.
Nobody stopped maoris from using their own language. It’s just that it’s spoken by probably less than 2% of the NZ population and that it’s a pointless language to learn, especially, if you are from other country. Immigrants that are born in NZ have hard time learning their own language but their parents try hard to teach them how to speak chinese/korean/indian etc. Perhaps, maoris should do the same. Unfortunately, country cannot go backward and make maori the national language. It’s a sad truth but it has to be accepted. This is what this fight is about.
In saying that, I do not want to be affected by this. NZ is in recession and economy is collapsing. Just look around you. All the shops are closing up, living cost is super high, and tax is even higher. I might be an immigrant but I have lived in this country most of my life and I pay my tax. I want equality. I am out to survive just like everyone else, and I don’t want to “listen and digest”. How is that going to help me feed myself and my family?

Are we as taxpayers paying her a salary, and how much more does she get per Annum than the ordinary hardworking Maori and others who are New Zealanders who are paying her salary? Disgraceful to insult those who pay her salary, we are her employers, she is there to do a job of helping run the country, not whine like a spoiled child who wants more candy. She is not helping Maori, she is trying to create a division, when we are all living OK side by side and treating each other as fellow human beings. Hatred, never solved any problems.

Maori translates as normal, to speak about actual people you cite iwi. Maori is something you identify as, like trans. It's ridiculous.

European salary?? Was does that mean?? Aren't we all mean't to be New Zealander's. Are you saying that only people of European decent work and pay taxes in New Zealand?? Isn't that racist aren't we all mean't to be the same??

@kalleywalker8228 I am pointing out the cognitive dissonance of someone standing in parliament, free to speak, on a huge salary with perks, paid for by the taxpayers of N.Z, the majority of which are of European descent. My point is she benefits from all the "good" side of European intervention, whilst simultaneously biting the hand that feeds her. Yes, we ARE all equal. 🙂 Have a good night.

@dallasstorey that doesn't give you the right to speak on behalf of all tax payers and claim taxes payed by all NZ nationalities as a European wage.

@@kalleywalker8228You're missing my point .Did you watch the video!!? She's speaking with parliamentary privilege under the Westminster system which sets m.p's salaries, saying the Govt is trying to exterminate Maori !!! Read all the other comments if you want to get offended, nuance is clearly wasted on you. 😂

@@dallasstorey It just makes me laugh how most of the people making negative comment's about this Mp and calling her a racist for trying to differentiate people by race but you've done exactly the same thing by referring to taxes paid by New Zealander's as a European wage

Always comes down that that ‘old chestnut' "abuse in State care" I am Pakeha & I also experienced "abuse in State care" But we never address the 'elephant in the room' which is, the abuse or neglect that got us put into State Care! As a GG niece of Selina Sutherland I am proud of the State Care her orphanages & hospitals provided to children & the underprivileged in N.Z & then latterly, Australia after she was forced to flee the country because of the 'good men & ladies' of the Church who wanted segregation & separatism rather than the true message of Christ & universal equality under God! The Queen could not be Sovereign if some of her subjects got to pick & choose, as the descendants here seem to be suggesting was the case. I guess that is why he & Good Governor Grey parted ways, the latter now being universally defamed by our leftist media. As Jesus said (whom the Chiefs heartily embraced) Matthew 6:24 New International Version
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
