Here are few details of how I travelled from Delhi to Amritsar
Travel by train - Amritsar Shatabdi (Timings 7:20 am from new Delhi Railway Station)
Stay Fairfield by Marriott (With in 3 km from railway Station, Golden Temple, Jalianwala Bagh, kulcha land, brother's dhaba etc.
Local travel - Would recommend to go by auto. They charge 100 for most of the places one side and 200 for both sides.
