This is what I remember the most from this extraordinary fair! I went back in 1972 & thought this architecture was just as extraordinary as when I first saw it at the world’s fair! I always wanted to live here & remember walking underneath it, when I attended the fair & staring up at the building! Live thus structure & it looks just as modern, new & incredible as the first time I saw it! I always wanted to go into this place so thanks to this blog/video, I now get to view the inside! Thank-you so much for the best video/blog ever!
Marchant2 That's the sad thing. This was intended for the average Joe, but construction costs were so high, it soon became apparent that it couldn't be so.
@@Whammytap These modular housing idea still has to catch on, But who really wants to live in a brutalist styled apartment complex?.. There are a lot more amazing ideas then Habitat 67 that most people aren´t aware off.
I found the inside, specially those apartments without carpeting, to be cold, echoed, and "tinny". Even my voice echoed, and a dropped pencil could be heard 2 rooms over.
@@LanielPhoto At this level, one has to take your word on your statement due to the fact that I never visited the apartments in person. Having said that, I hope they have taken care of the issues you claimed when you visited, for the sake of the actual tennants living there now.
@@SABOREAME68 -Just go pay a visit if you can, and drop a pencil..... Carpeting seems to help, but then you have to vacuum. Still, a beautiful place to live.
@@LanielPhoto I would, however, my medical career doesn't allow it at the moment. However, as I stated previously you guys seem to have witness it in person, therefore, I'll take your word. Stay Safe & Healthy.
Muy buena la nota y me sirve bastante para ver como viven ahi, lo bueno que esta funcionando todavía y el vecino tiene esa integración con el edificio muchas gracias saludos !
Looks like the HOA does not allow anyone to have a patio umbrella on their terrace. And for good reason. After a while it would be impossible to regulate the wild assortment of sizes, colors and patterns. Habitat would look like a trailer park.
Awful architecture. We have a few of these concrete caverns here in downtown Chicago and they are among the cheapest per square foot in the city. No one wants to live in these concrete caves.

Wouldn't it be nice if they built architecture like this for the average worker and not just for the rich or very well-off?

Namely rich and well-to-do men.

@@Zoza15 I'm sure that I have only scratched the surface when it comes to cool Brutalist architecture. :)
That's just what I wanted to say. It went into disrepair and nobody liked it but now the units are $1 million and more and only for rich people.
Very impeccable!! Now this is BOLD. Some people will hate it, some will love it. It's nothing in between! I love this!
I love it, love it, love it!!!!
But as population grows, these types of housing solutions are inevitable..
@@Zoza15 Not sure how this architecture solves housing shortages, and traditional architecture doesn't.
The staggered multi levels allows light to flow the the space. Very unique building... Luv to really see the structure better than how it was shown...
1:09 I fuckin always knew it!! CARS DO DRIVE BACKWARDS IN CANADA!!!
Habitat 67 deserves to be expanded for every one.
perfect parkour spot
« The sky is big » what sort of answer was he expecting for that 😂?
With modern "printed" and offsite prefab construction, it seems like this design philosophy is long overdue for a comeback.
In desperate need of a power washing :S
Amazing.
Seen the building and it’s beautiful
a glitch in the matrix
Lovely architecture, needless to say, as well as the inside decor ⭐️

30k a year in condo fees.
Exposed "brutalist" concrete: The perfect material for mold, dust, grime, smog and dirt to settle on.. The years have clearly not been kind to it!
👍👍👍
This could house a lot of people, with a hub space and balcony space and outside space for walking..
What's the white circle in the beginning
If they built apartments like that out of precast concrete, strong and very sound deadening, only the wealthy could afford the rent!!
Nice 👌
Wrong. The Canadian pavilion was the "inverted pyramid" on Ile Notre Dame!
My friend lives there. He’s a boxer.
I find it a bit cluttered! Oh well!
Ugly building but I respect the creativity.
Cool design, but this has nothing on Singapore's Interlace.
Every terrace is open to the sky....and your neighbors. So much for privacy outside when you want to sit and relax.
I don't want to offend but it Looks like a favela 😞

A nightmare
This house looks disgusting. Brutalism was a huge mistake.

@@frodovan ..... you’re not qualified to say that
Apparently many want to. Everyone who lives in habitat 67 loves it. We need more building like this, it's beautiful!
This seems like a comune for wealthy gay men.
Post Modern Crap!
Lol. Moshe Safdie is a Modernist architect, and very much a hater of the Post-modern movement. Your comment is therefore not just wrong but dumb.
It's still ugly.
@@terrybear5398 Are tower blocks not ugly?
