I got my Rallye suit 13 years ago with my 1200 adv. I've ridden in conditions down to -7'C in sleet snow hail and rain, it still doesn't leak despite numerous offs in the dirt. I can honestly say its the best value for money I have ever had on any bike clothing in my 50+ years on two wheels. And like you say the linings are easy to whip out when you travel further south, coupled with the zipper vents 40'C has been no problem whilst still having full crash protection. And as long as you wash the Goretex linings according to the spec you won't have any bother. The outer shell hoses off easily if you get blathered in mud, but the trick is to be the bike in front and then you don't have that trouble!

@@andrerodrigues-ot8gl hi Andre. The GS boots weren't 100% waterproof but it could be that the water has got up the inside of the trousers and back down the boots. Usually they are fine I have had damp feet when doing deep water. I tend to ware gortex socks now just to be sure. The British military use them and they are very good. Good luck and stay safe Andre 👍🙂

Good review. I wore a BMW Ralley suit for years. Good in wide range of temperatures, from 120 deg F in Death Valley to freezing temps in Canada. Suit is a pain riding in rain. The inner vortex liner keeps you dry, however, out layers soaks up water like a sponge. I have since replaced my BMW Ralley suit for a Klim Latitude outfit. I find it lighter, more comfortable and 100 percent rainproof.

@Ajay As a road touring jacket, it’s great. I have been using it now over last several years, done multiple transcontinental tours across US and Canada. Great all weather jacket. It’s around $800 US for jacket and just a bit less for pants.

    Hello Buddy,
Good review. I do already have one of these suits and find it to be excellent.
I don't have experience of other high end suits of this type to compare; I imagine there are many comparable suits on the market, but I'm happy with this purchase (did get it somewhat discounted).
I have worn it on a trip around Australia where I had to deal with both very hot & dry, and very wet & cold weather. Meant I only had to take one suit (including liners) which is a huge space saver.
I did add both a cooling vest for hot conditions, and an electric heated jacket for the cold.
Can't understand people commenting that the suit is not waterproof - can only assume they didn't have liners.
A full [Goretex] waterproof jacket is no good in hot weather; certainly here in Australia.
If I know I'm only travelling in very hot weather, I may opt for my (Alpinestar) full gauze jacket plus the cooling vest - that has got me across the country in 40C temps, quite comfortably.
But longer trips usually mean more diversity with the weather, and the Rallye suit is my choice.
It washes easily in a washing machine (as is, I never take the armour out) and dries fairly quickly.
However, I just returned from three weeks across the desert, Perth to Alice Springs, etc, in very cold conditions, and despite wearing five layers (including the heated vest), felt cold the whole way. Particularly my arms were always cold. I just didn't realise it was quite so cold out there - think I'll stick to summer, I'd rather cope with the heat !
I have found the soft gauze sections of the suit (pants) have frayed a bit, which is disappointing.
Also I have had most of the Velcro removed and replaced with heavy press studs - 'cause I greatly dislike Velcro sticking to everything.
I also tried fitting my Camelbak bladder in the back compartment of the jacket, but it pulled down and nearly throttled me, so I went back to wearing the separate backpack. But the elastic loop (drink hose guide) on the shoulder makes a handy anchor point for my Garmin InReach device.
The grey leather on your gloves is kangaroo hide; not sure if that's the same on the suit pants.
My local dealer here talked of seeing a Rallye suit that had endured a long scrape along the tarmac and mostly survived, but saved the rider a lot of personal injury - I never saw it, but hopefully it's true.
    Enjoy your suit, safe riding.

Great review, I had a Klim Badlands and the GoreTex laminate does away with the need for a liner and it breaths, hopefully BMW will use that fabric in their next update of this suit.

GoreTex Laminates are quite warm in the summer. I have a laminate suit (Rukka) and that is great in spring, winter and autumn. But above 25 C it is just too warm. I use the BMW Rally suit with the removable liner in the hottest months, it's been in the dessert and also in India with temp's over 40C and still it's comfortable. That would not have been the case with the GoreTex laminate.

    • @MrFastrhino
      @MrFastrhino 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I live in Australia and crossed Australia in the heat of the summer. With the vents open it was great. It does get warm when you stop though. I guess it depends what you want to compromise on. My suit is genuine 4 season.

The new Adventure Rallye suits have a different jacket liner..I'm on my 2nd suit and with all the vents and zippers you will get wet in a downpour...what your paying for is the best protection available, better than KLM, REVIT etc....I have a REVIT Sand2 suit and with a thermal and waterproof liner it is comfier and is a true dry suit.I ride the Pacific Northwest in Canada.AS far as wearing a glove that doesn't go over your cuff...pure inexperience...when you crash and slide you will peel back the arm. The glove is a quality product but short in offering you the best protection...my 2 cents worth after 40 years riding and on my 2nd GSA.

Good to see another video! I think Charlie and Ewan had the suits because they came free with the bikes :-) Don't doubt they are quality for all that. You should invest in a pair of braces for the trousers, I have a RST Adventure II suit that have 3 'layers' so can be quite heavy, and braces are a much better solution than any belt. I bought a set of Bike It ones that do a great job and have good reviews. Looking forward to your other video's...keep them coming it's been too long.

Listen I have the same Rallye suit as yours and every so often the dealerships have a half price or 30% off sale. Got my jacket £ 299 and the trousers £199.
Obviously the new design has come out but who cares. They are almost identical. I have just bought a brand new pair of trousers £120 on eBay. Bargains are there to be had if you can’t justify the full £1000 for both.
You really should do some more vids, put a Denali sound bomb and the lights on your bike. Plenty of good topics and you would do a really good video blog ( vlog)
