i've seen hamsters screaming for snacks in my case since as i know some people trains them into making them producting noises to getting their reward, i remember back i've teached to my hamster to squeaking for a snack but screaming wasn't the best option for training

My hamster screamed a lot when she was in her critter trail and as soon as I moved her to her 40 gallon aquarium she never screamed again. It just goes to show you that being in a small cage is literally torture

But babies do sometimes scream and cry for fun. Have you MET a baby? My neice will scream at the top of her lungs, then start giggling furiously about it, especially if the people around are irritated, and ESPECIALLY if she's in a grocery store.
definitely. green cheek conure's are some of the quietest they told me. you'll have no problems with them in an apartment they told me. fast forward to now and my overdrmatic bird SHOUTS anytime i leave the room because she knows it'll force me to come back in and give her attention while I try to remind her of our poor neighbors.

@@RamRam-rm3bb are you sure your hamster has a big cage (I'd say atleast 700sq but 450 is the minimum), 6 inches of bedding and an 8 inch wheel? If you do then I think the hamster might have been mistreated at the store or if it was adopted it may have been mistreated by its previous owners?
@@Inkedalic3 yes the hamster lives in a Christmas tree bin (which are huge) I made sure to give it lots of bedding and it has I believe a 10 inch wheel he’s getting more and more comfortable by the day but I can tell something happened and made him not trust humans, we are getting a lot closer now though I haven’t picked him up he’s comfortable doing stuff around me!!

I’m a new hamster owner and stupidly tried to clean my hamsters cage while he was asleep. He was asleep in a nest he made under his sand bath and as I lifted it to add fresh sand and woke him he made a horrific scream. I felt terrible but lesson learned! Since then I’ve watched almost every video on your channel! Best pet care channel.
I'm a new hamster owner too... Learning as I go. These videos help a lot. My hamster screamed because I lifted her house trying to clean her cage by just giving things a quick wipe before the big clean (changing bedding etc.) Taught me quickly where her comfort level is. You shouldn't disturb them at all unless necessary, especially in their hiding hole. I now wait till she is active in the cage, remove all her toys as they have her scent, place a towel down in the bath and let her roam and play for 15 minutes and give her a cuddle before she goes back in. 😁
I just got a cute little dwarf hammy with red eyes. It’s funny bc the pet store lady said he was super lazy and would only sleep and eat. The second I brought him home and put him in a bigger cage with a wheel he immediately started running for at least 2 hours and was as energetic and as happy as can be. It’s sad to see how depressed these little cuties get in those cramped and non stimulating environments. He also bit and hid from the pet store lady but has not bit me and is super docile in my hands. He also climbs all over me when I let him run around in my room🥰😊🥺

I'm a zoologist and I totally agree with Raechel on how fact-finding on the net always require more cross-referencing and counter checking, not just blindly taking the first hit on google as the right information. I cringed at the information about how hamster screaming is a learned behaviour that was written by a nobody with no credentials and questionable references.

You can get one of those small cages that coat 20$ if you take out your hamsters. Just make sure the hamster cage fits the hamster. If you feel the cage at the store is too small for your pick of hamster, make sure to buy the tank
@@moonrocco taking out your hamster doesnt substitute for a big cage. Minimum is about 400-500 sq in and recommended starts at like 650 of floorspace. In almost no way is a small cage good for a hamster unless it's an addon to a huge cage or something

Yes! It happens more often with new hamsters especially when they’ve come from a large chain petstore like PetSmart and PetCo simply because they go through so much neglect, I don’t blame them being scared of everything.
Yep! None of my past hamsters acted like this so it did shock me at first and i was really upset because he wouldnt stop. I googled around a lot and found the exact article from your vid! I knew he wasnt just doing it because he can he was so scared the poor baby! But now he's fine but he might yell at me if i wake him up but wouldnt we all react that way

My hamster came from a family with a small child who used to pick my little furball up and „play“ with him. He screamed the entire time the day I picked him up. Nowadays he is a happy little hamster, lives in his beautiful big terrarium and does not scream at all, even if I try to touch him a little bit. I am so proud of him trusting me. Unfortunately, my hamster passed away today. His lump was a problem and he passed peacefully. I tried everything i could to give him a great life and I think I succeeded I am happy he is in a better place. Thank you Victoria for making these videos and helping the whole world. My current hamster never screamed when I got him, but he did squeak when he was nervous. He squeaks way less often now, but he is a bit of a vocal boi 💙
When I got my current russian dwarf hamster from the pet store (i didn't know a lot about rodent mills at the time, I'll never purschase a hamster again), it was the first and last time i heard her scream, as the pet store employee put her aggresively in the cardboard box. she squeaked a little in the start while we were trying to tame her, but now she's tame living happily in a 587 sq inches enclosure.
My hamster never squeaks when she is nervous, but she squeaks when she is happy hahah. Like whenever we get her new toys she runs like crazy and squeaks.🥺

I rescued my hamster when I saw her struggling to breath in a tank. She had been abused and it was clear she had a respiratory infection so I took her to the vet and they said if I chose to put her down they wouldn’t blame me because she was dying. I chose to fight and give her all the care she needed. She screamed the second I entered my room or heard the slightest sound. After lots of time and patience she is a very happy and brave girl loving her life! She is so inquisitive and loves to explore her enclosure. I don’t think she will ever like hands or to be held but that’s fine as she no longer screams and is living her life a whole year on🥺💙

My hamster LOVES to squeak when he's digging around in his sandbath. I've had a few hamsters before my current one, and squeaks and screams are FAR different! I hope people can understand this, and that this hamster in the video was not happy at all. Poor thing!

I saw the OG video on tiktok before it blew up and commented that It was much likely more scared than "screaming because it can" and got so attacked for it when the video took off cause apparently you have to be a vet to do a single Google search on proper hamster care and simple body/vocal language 🙄🙄🙄 I hate how small pets are just seen as disposable entertainment yet if someones dog was acting like this of course they'd know something was wrong smh
For the first few days of owning my hamster, she lived in a Crittertrail and constantly screamed when I walked by her cage or even when she was just all alone. I started doing some research and came across Tori’s videos and realized that the cage I had my hamster in was NOT okay. Shortly after, I moved my hamster to an enclosure with about 890 sq inches and almost immediately after she stopped screaming and became the sweetest hamster ever! Just goes to show what absolute torture small cages are. (Also if you’re wondering, I’m currently building a diy cage for her with over 1,200 sq inches)
When I first got my hamster she was screaming because she had no idea what was going on but now that she is used to us she is very comfortable with us.

Yes, most hamsters aren't very vocal. I have 3 hamsters, and I've only heard one of my hamster squeak. She squeaks when I give her walnut (her fav food).
Hamster abuse (and abuse of small pets in general) is so normalised on the internet and it makes me so sad and angry. Hamsters are treated as disposable toys by so many people. If people posted those horror stories about their cats or dogs they'd be called psychopaths... but if it's a hamster then it's funny??? Small pets deserve the same respect. Why is that so hard to understand for some people?

we didn't breed her. we got her from a surrender pet store, that housed hamsters together. she gave birth to seven babies on Halloween. She was the most active hamster at the pet store. Well, now we have 8 hamsters in our bedroom. I love my little hammies

I saw this one video where someone was petting their bunny, the bunny moved away a little (it looked like it was trying to explore), and the person grabbed their bunny by their fur, and flipped it on its backside. Everyone else in the comments said, “You’re hurting the poor bunny :(“ The person who made the video said, “I’m not hurting her :(“ He was, or at least that what it looked like. I’ll try to find the video, but I think they deleted it. I’m not sure.

literally. my hamsters former owners were very neglectful. i gave him as much enrichment as i could and he stopped screaming and he finally started coming out

I owned hamsters twenty years ago when small wire cages, hamster balls and owning them in pairs were highly encouraged. I was 4 at the time and haven’t had any since. I would love to Properly own one again in the future❤️❤️❤️

I'm a zoologist and I totally agree with Raechel on how fact-finding on the net always require more cross-referencing and counter checking, not just blindly taking the first hit on google as the right information. I cringed at the information about how hamster screaming is a learned behaviour that was written by a nobody with no credentials and questionable references.

You can get one of those small cages that coat 20$ if you take out your hamsters. Just make sure the hamster cage fits the hamster. If you feel the cage at the store is too small for your pick of hamster, make sure to buy the tank
@@moonrocco taking out your hamster doesnt substitute for a big cage. Minimum is about 400-500 sq in and recommended starts at like 650 of floorspace. In almost no way is a small cage good for a hamster unless it's an addon to a huge cage or something

Yes! It happens more often with new hamsters especially when they’ve come from a large chain petstore like PetSmart and PetCo simply because they go through so much neglect, I don’t blame them being scared of everything.

I have seen a video record by a webcam in cage that two mice slipped into a syrian hamster cage and brought some bugs into it. The hamster scream to drive them out. It's lucky that he didn't got hurt.

My hamster came from a family with a small child who used to pick my little furball up and „play“ with him. He screamed the entire time the day I picked him up. Nowadays he is a happy little hamster, lives in his beautiful big terrarium and does not scream at all, even if I try to touch him a little bit. I am so proud of him trusting me. Those little screams frightened me so much, when I first heard them - I do not even understand how people think that hamsters do that for fun

Unfortunately, my hamster passed away today. His lump was a problem and he passed peacefully. I tried everything i could to give him a great life and I think I succeeded I am happy he is in a better place. Thank you Victoria for making these videos and helping the whole world. It is great to make the world a better place. I got all of my information from this channel and would not have known anything with out it. One thing I can proudly brag about is that none of my hamsters ever screamed which makes me feel proud.
My current hamster never screamed when I got him, but he did squeak when he was nervous. He squeaks way less often now, but he is a bit of a vocal boi 💙
When I got my current russian dwarf hamster from the pet store (i didn't know a lot about rodent mills at the time, I'll never purschase a hamster again), it was the first and last time i heard her scream, as the pet store employee put her aggresively in the cardboard box. she squeaked a little in the start while we were trying to tame her, but now she's tame living happily in a 587 sq inches enclosure.

Out of all 30ish hamsters ive had in my life; the ONLY hamster ive ever had scream, is my robo who was scared of his scent being gone after cage cleans
I rescued my hamster when I saw her struggling to breath in a tank. She had been abused and it was clear she had a respiratory infection so I took her to the vet and they said if I chose to put her down they wouldn’t blame me because she was dying. I chose to fight and give her all the care she needed. She screamed the second I entered my room or heard the slightest sound. After lots of time and patience she is a very happy and brave girl loving her life! She is so inquisitive and loves to explore her enclosure. I don’t think she will ever like hands or to be held but that’s fine as she no longer screams and is living her life a whole year on🥺💙

My hamster LOVES to squeak when he's digging around in his sandbath. I've had a few hamsters before my current one, and squeaks and screams are FAR different! I hope people can understand this, and that this hamster in the video was not happy at all. Poor thing!

For the first few days of owning my hamster, she lived in a Crittertrail and constantly screamed when I walked by her cage or even when she was just all alone. I started doing some research and came across Tori’s videos and realized that the cage I had my hamster in was NOT okay. Shortly after, I moved my hamster to an enclosure with about 890 sq inches and almost immediately after she stopped screaming and became the sweetest hamster ever! Just goes to show what absolute torture small cages are.
(Also if you’re wondering, I’m currently building a diy cage for her with over 1,200 sq inches)

Yes, most hamsters aren't very vocal. I have 3 hamsters, and I've only heard one of my hamster squeak. She squeaks when I give her walnut (her fav food).

Hamster abuse (and abuse of small pets in general) is so normalised on the internet and it makes me so sad and angry. Hamsters are treated as disposable toys by so many people. If people posted those horror stories about their cats or dogs they'd be called psychopaths... but if it's a hamster then it's funny??? Small pets deserve the same respect. Why is that so hard to understand for some people?

My hamster used to scream a lot when her babies were still housed with her. Now, she only screams if we are cleaning her cage when she is sleeping. (I didn't breed these hamsters, it was an accidental litter)

we didn't breed her. we got her from a surrender pet store, that housed hamsters together. she gave birth to seven babies on Halloween. She was the most active hamster at the pet store. Well, now we have 8 hamsters in our bedroom. I love my little hammies

You are totally right! Some days when I’m in a bad mood or I just want to watch some cute animals, it shows me bad animal care. I saw this one video where someone was petting their bunny, the bunny moved away a little (it looked like it was trying to explore), and the person grabbed their bunny by their fur, and flipped it on its backside. Everyone else in the comments said, “You’re hurting the poor bunny :(“
The person who made the video said, “I’m not hurting her :(“ He was, or at least that what it looked like. I’ll try to find the video, but I think they deleted it. I’m not sure.

I owned hamsters twenty years ago when small wire cages, hamster balls and owning them in pairs were highly encouraged. I was 4 at the time and haven’t had any since. I would love to Properly own one again in the future❤️❤️❤️
