@@The_Primary_Axiom You'll notice all the upgrades during cutscenes and conversations, but when you're playing the upgrades aren't always obvious. But in my opinion, that isn't a new thing. The difference between the original Zero Dawn and Forbidden West was also sometimes hard to notice outside of cutscenes and conversations, the original has held up that well.

Yeah, I was surprised how well Forbidden West ran on the PC. Granted, I have an RTX 4090, but Forbidden West is still very optimized for how good it looks and stayed at 120 fps (which is the limit I have set on my PC) almost all the time without DLSS or frame generation and with DLAA active. That said, the minimum requirements for Zero Dawn have increased because of the upgrade, and the option to buy the original would have been nice for anyone with a lower spec PC that's thinking of buying the game now for the first time.
I really enjoy it also...I don't play alot of open world games, but I do enjoy the Horizon series...The Frozen Wilds DLC was one of the best DLCs I have played in a long time!

$10 upgrade was worth it! I’m about 8 hours into a new game and it’s very nice! It’s much prettier. Some of the cutscene facial animations are a little funky still but the overall cutscene upgrade makes them much more interesting to watch. The updated controls on PS5 with the motion aiming is ace too
its 10 dollar upgrade for those who owned the disc, or you can get used disc for less than 5 dollar, upgrade it, and get the dlc too. for those who never played the first one like me, they sell the physical version for like 40 usd here, and its cheaper than new games

The whole mystery of the machines and the lore of the world was so interesting. To hear people saying it's not compelling is crazy to me, I guess taste varies drastically from person to person. I'm obcessed with this game, reading the files, listening to the audio logs..
I actually liked Horizon zero Dawn. I didn’t care too much for the second one. Better gameplay, but it was missing something. The story was so much better in the first one.

I had exactly the same problem with the cloth physics. It was completely freaking out on me too. I'm now past the intro bit and into the main world and it's gone, but there was also an update that dropped around the same time, so I don't know if it's an intro thing or if the patch fixed it. Now it's running perfect. I really enjoy horizon games, and it's been years since I played the original, so I'm loving it so far. I paid the £10 upgrade fee. I feel like it was worth it, it's quite stunning now
I was perfectly fine with the original, but the remaster does look much better! The texture detail and the lighting along with HDR are what make it pop...
For us germans, this game was a mess in the original version. The dialogues with npc's were completely async, which took you out of the experience immediately. This is what I was waiting for. All those dialogues are fixed now and the game looks so much better than the original version. Best upgrade for a game in years.
After watching the "Digital Foundary's video I had to get it. I just got the remastered today. Aloy and and the entire game is beautiful and better than ever.
I played the base game through to the end and I did enjoy it. I found the ending to be nice. I really liked the setting having lived in CO for a few years in my youth so that was cool. However, I do not see myself playing through it again so I get the sentiment about it just being okay.
Massive improvement. I'd argue Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4 didn't age that great (aside from the lighting and art designs). The world detail and faces are great now. Almost Forbidden west level

Regarding the Horizon live action, there were allegations regarding one of the people working on the show, and also a bit of disagreement regarding the script of the show (tldr, they were not willing to stick to the game lore provided, and Guerilla was kinda not happy with that).
Probably the most beautiful game I've ever played, Gorilla games really did a phenomenal job, better than most new games graphics, this and red dead redemption 2 are on another level

Considering what kind of trash has been releasing lately for a full price of €/$ 70-80, Zero Dawn remaster has a more than just price tag of 50 if you've not played the game before. And people who have already played the game before and are planning to go for another playthrough, there's a good they will be getting the €/$ 10 upgrade.
For $10 it looks like a nice refresh . I bought HZD from a used disc bargain bin for $10. When I add this $10 upgrade I get this new game for $20 total . Not bad.

It already looked great, so the graphical upgrades aren't THAT huge a leap imo. Things like npcs and lods look cleaner and more detailed i.e Thunder's Drum. (Also in the remaster it continues to erupt even if you complete it don't know if that's intentional) One thing I don't like is they've ditched Aloy's athletic build from ZD and gave her that weird lanky build from FW. It's still not FW level imo (pretty close) and *if not for the $10 upgrade I wouldn't have bought it for $40 as it's essentially the same exact game with a new coat of paint*

no its not cause on PC the same game was around 15$ and it came 5 years ago and it didn't have PSN attached to it while this version costs 50$ it has a PSN attached to it and now its even older of agame for PC let alone PS
It really does look great. I think if I ever decided to play the game again it would be a no brainer to upgrade. But it’s not something I’m running to pick up now.
I played like 6 hours when this was on play now, got busy with other games and life, bought forbidden west on launch and put over 160 hours into that. Not sure if I want to go back to this though 🤔
The tiny hairs reflected off of Aloy's face looks great in cutscenes, but why does Rost's beard look like it was glued on, it looks like a halloween costume😢
I have thoughts on these remasters that might be a little controversial. I feel like PlayStation is always going to update their IP to the latest console.I’m not against that. Some of the remasters like uncharted Legacy of thieves, I really love. As long as they give me the $10 upgrade path and it’s a game that I really like. I’ll probably take advantage.
bought the game years a ago played like 3 hours and moved on, will gladly pay 15$ to have my verison upgraded, was planning to get around to giving it another shot anyway, it's a better game now anyway, let's be real if you haven't bought the original you probably were not going to or would just buy the newer one, so I think it's fine. Should have been a little bit cheaper though. I find it makes it far mroe apealing, the only real drawback from older games are the graphics.

Horizon still has a multiplayer game. So if they release a movie or TV show that is a bigger game to make money. People spend more money on microtransactions than they would like to talk about.
Not gonna lie, loading up my mid game save from the OG version, and immediately facing into audio sync/facial animation issues kinda killed my hype for this game. Like it's the one thing that i was looking forward to in this remaster, and it still botched the facial animation.
Just got this game on the PS5 and it is filled with bugs, pop - ins all over the place, dialogue with lip sync is completely messed up, and the fidelity mode is locked at 30 fps instead of 40 with unlocked frame rates with vrr. Favor frame rates you may ask? It doesn't get any better, the game barely feels like it reaches 60 fps and it feels clunky as hell.
as much as i think it was unnecessary remaster i upgraded for 10 bucks and it reminding me why i fell in love with this game and why i love aloy as a character. 10 bucks well spent even though i think its a scummy tactic by sony. this upgraded should have been free for those who already owned the ps4 game.

It already looked great, so the graphical upgrades aren't THAT huge a leap imo. Things like npcs and lods look cleaner and more detailed i.e Thunder's Drum. (Also in the remaster it continues to erupt even if you complete it don't know if that's intentional)
One thing I don't like is they've ditched Aloy's athletic build from ZD and gave her that weird lanky build from FW. It's still not FW level imo (pretty close) and *if not for the $10 upgrade I wouldn't have bought it for $40 as it's essentially the same exact game with a new coat of paint*
I can understand people not wanting dev time put into a project like this, but otherwise ten bucks for an updated version of a well loved game for many seems fine to me. If you don’t want it then just ignore it? Idk the whole thing seems silly

no its not cause on PC the same game was around 15$ and it came 5 years ago and it didn't have PSN attached to it while this version costs 50$ it has a PSN attached to it and now its even older of agame for PC let alone PS

It really does look great. I think if I ever decided to play the game again it would be a no brainer to upgrade. But it’s not something I’m running to pick up now.
I played like 6 hours when this was on play now, got busy with other games and life, bought forbidden west on launch and put over 160 hours into that. Not sure if I want to go back to this though 🤔

I have thoughts on these remasters that might be a little controversial. I feel like PlayStation is always going to update their IP to the latest console.I’m not against that. Some of the remasters like uncharted Legacy of thieves, I really love. As long as they give me the $10 upgrade path and it’s a game that I really like. I’ll probably take advantage.

bought the game years a ago played like 3 hours and moved on, will gladly pay 15$ to have my verison upgraded, was planning to get around to giving it another shot anyway, it's a better game now anyway, let's be real if you haven't bought the original you probably were not going to or would just buy the newer one, so I think it's fine. Should have been a little bit cheaper though. I find it makes it far mroe apealing, the only real drawback from older games are the graphics.
They added the splash and showed more of her rolling down, whereas in the original it faded in and out
I hope they add vitiligo, then you know its worth a re-buy! Then they can release it again with an "upgrade" cost for the PS6.

If you had the game, is a 10$ upgrade that is massive, and improves a lot, that seems fair.

Not gonna lie, loading up my mid game save from the OG version, and immediately facing into audio sync/facial animation issues kinda killed my hype for this game. Like it's the one thing that i was looking forward to in this remaster, and it still botched the facial animation.
Just got this game on the PS5 and it is filled with bugs, pop - ins all over the place, dialogue with lip sync is completely messed up, and the fidelity mode is locked at 30 fps instead of 40 with unlocked frame rates with vrr. Favor frame rates you may ask? It doesn't get any better, the game barely feels like it reaches 60 fps and it feels clunky as hell.
I'll take this over Dragon Age WOKEguard any. Day. Of. The. Week.
as much as i think it was unnecessary remaster i upgraded for 10 bucks and it reminding me why i fell in love with this game and why i love aloy as a character. 10 bucks well spent even though i think its a scummy tactic by sony. this upgraded should have been free for those who already owned the ps4 game.

People are upset, because they want new games for their $500 consoles that they often bought for a grand+ from scalpers, not remakes of remasters. If you'd check discourse over og horizon when it came out for ps4, you'd see a different picture, but now, sony is diluting their flagship brands in hopes of... well, nobody really knows what they're hoping for, but in eyes of many players, they're just damaging their first party brands 🤷♂️
