I feel like people say this because they compare it mine minecraft, but terraria isn't minecraft. Minecraft doesn't have tons of unique items that if you lose you may have to start a new word to get again, nor does in have items that require a dozen other are loot drops to get. Not compariable. Classic or if they want, hardcore. Mediumcore is awful.
just make backup loadouts to retrieve your gear and play cautiously like its hardcore (recall potions in hotbar, use them liberally, don’t put yourself in dumb situations) and it’s really not that bad. makes dying in the game have actual stakes and matter without you losing the entire character permanently.
@thisperson102 I mean it is a skill issue though. Mediumcore is perfect for people who just want an easier hardcore since you don't lose your character if you die. Also you have to learn new skills when playing mediumcore.
It's bad because: 1: People say "it is good because it makes you use odd tools" but bro you can just CHOOSE to use odd tools whenever you want 2: Urges backup loadouts, which are tedious to make 3: Makes you lose items 4: Does not increase skill required to play really, just increased time required, since even if you die all the time you could theoretically just teleport back home and store the item every time you get a decent item. You could then go looking for a double before you use the item. While madly tedious, this process guarantees getting and keeping any item in mediumcore. Hardcore is better not because it is good at all, but I wouldn't have to waste as much time there. In mediumcore I would prob just ignore bosses and become a tree farmer and builder out of fear of danger.
The difference is this. You either make one set of equipment or two. Of those two options there's one that's tedious and a chore, ultimately just artificial difficulty added for the sake of being "hard", not even counting the drag that inventory management is when you pick up your stuff. Mobs already hit unfairly strong and are impossible to tank unless you stunkockthem with pushback, if I'm gonna get turtled in the jungle while I'm remodeling the base that the "V" shaped corruption messed up, I'd rather just drop the gold and not my entire will to keep playing.
Worst game mode. Love the vids man keep it up you remind me of another old youtuber called Alwec who quit TH-cam a while back he was litro my childhood and you bring back the same feeling. Love it
Honestly it’s really weird how much hate it gets. It’s even more forgiving than minecraft or even dark souls bc nothing despawns. Just don’t take anything too valuable to the underworld and ur good
@@Pyr0Ben that’s a great point! No shutting off the game to take time to collect yourself before going back in, you gotta leave the game on and risk an invasion, boss spawn, or weather event that you’d have to deal with before going back for your stuff
@ minecraft is generally much easier than terraria, and it's 3d, making it easier to run around avoiding enemies. even if you die during a raid or in the deep dark, you'll probably be able to run and get your stuff without too much trouble. terraria is 2d. if you're swarmed, it's over. especially if you're helpless without a weapon, unlike steve who can throw hands.
Mediumcore is extremely underrated. Makes the game have actual stakes and as long as you actually play with a basic amount of caution and make backup loadouts to retrieve your stuff its not that bad.
Mediumcore is the one actual glaring similarity Terraria has to Minecraft. And then again it kind of isn't anyway because its its own separate mode. The 2D minecrafters are still wrong.
First time i beat the game was on mediumcore cause i thought that was the "normal" difficulty. I beat it out of spite and didn't touch it again for years until one of my friends wanted to play and informed me of my foolishness😅🥲
Nah, these people are crazy, you can say "but in minecraft that's the normal"... but terraria isn't minecraft, in minecraft you can build a 10 block tower and you are invencible... 4 ever, in terraria, you can build anything, towers, houses, castles, dive in the ocean, but you still die in a maximum of 2 seconds
bro is judging literally noone. The only person who has ever played mediumcore is an 11 year old trying terraria for the first time thinking its minecraft
This is basically what yall told me on ep1 of pushing limits
Bro, i love you 😢 Kiss me right now
I actually like keeping my things and not having to re-equip my entire loadout before even considering attempting the boss again
unreasonable statement >:()
Sounds like a skill issue.

just dont die ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(also important to note there’s no item timer so you have an infinite amount of time to retrieve your stuff unless you save and exit)

Sorbet cafe made a very persuasive case for mediumcore. It's not "the BEST difficulty" but it's a valid intermediary between classic and hardcore.

Not to mention the abundance of traps in Terraria compared to Minecraft.
"set KeepInventory true" is the best way to play Minecraft, prove me wrong

yeah notice the fact not all the items were picked up... only the second annoying problem with mediumcore
Mediumcore gives that I don’t wanna die but I also don’t want the chance of losing my world
Mediumcore is such a nothing burger mode.
Ppl who do mediumcore are too cowardly to do hard-core but too prideful to do softcore
The most fun ive had with the game is mediumcore classic mode

Nah it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy harder to get your terraria stuff back than it is to get your Minecraft stuff back
