    Levi;
    I live 30 miles from (1) hanging Rock State Park. I've done the Moore's Knob trail maybe 3 times a year.
    It's 67 miles to (2) Stone Mountain. I did Stone Mtn every other week this past summer; just couldn't get it out of my mind.
    It's 100+ miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Boone, NC area. There is a trail there I would like to suggest for you. Name is Boone Fork Trail. 4.9 miles, but do it a day or two after it rains because the trail is along side water streams (with good water pools/falls) going down stream; then turns back around to go against several smaller streams as they flow down to join the larger streams. Roughly 30+ small stream crossing on the return side of the trail.
    Totally agree with 1,2,4 and 5 places you suggested.

      I'll definitely check out the boone fork trail. I'm glad you enjoyed!

    Do the Profile Trail. It's awesme. I did it in November one year. There was snow and ice for the added difficulty. When we got to the parking lot at the swinging bridge, the trail was closed if you hiked from that direction. Got a hitch back down the mountain to the truck.

    Considerations to mention: Any specific parking areas to consider? Some hikes have more than one spot to park. Possibly show a map

    Unfortunately on June 27th 2023 the NPS removed the remains of the crashed plane. I did this hike in May 2015 and at that time I had no clue the plane existed so therefore I hiked past the side trail not knowing, I kick myself in the a$$ for not researching and knowing it was there. I had intentions of returning but kept putting it off and then I see on the news of a helicopter flying it out and placing it in a trash/construction bin at the parking lot, at that time I knew I waited too long. That being said...there is remains of a plane crash on Grandfather Mountain just below the summit of Calloway Peak. It's about 20 or 30 yards off of Daniel Boone Scout Trail adjacent to Raven's Roost Campsite.

  • @bobbiessalon

  • @JeffMeadowsOutdoors
    @JeffMeadowsOutdoors ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That plane crash looks just like the one on Grandfather Mountain. I went to Grandfather twice last year. Once hiking from the swinging bridge, the other time Daniel Boone Scout trail. If you do that one I recommend taking the detour and doing Cragway trail at least on either the trip up or down. I am also with you on Stone Mountain. That hike was awesome too.

      It's not in North Carolina but very close. Grayson Highlands/ Mount rogers area in Virginia is my favorite place for hiking and backpacking. If you want to do car camping, Linville Gorges old nc 105 has plenty of free car camping sites and plenty of day hikes from that side of the Gorge.
