I'm currently in the middle of a 3000 mile trip with a Lance 2612 toy hauler. 2020 Ram 3500, carli pintop, all the options. 37 inch toyo RT on 17 inch AEV wheels. Drives great. Even crossing Wyoming in that nasty wind. I did remove the FWC grandby for this trip. Weighed in at 19,000 lbs.
Great video! I can tell you I’ve run this sway bar on my 2013 Ram 2500. With a king/Carli 2.5 pintop setup and deaver rear leafs. I started towing a 26’ gearbox toy hauler and now a 40’ weekend warrior CR3905 fifth wheel and this sway bar truly can do it all with no issues. I have over 35,000 miles with my Carli setup and been towing heavy loads several years. CJC Off-road is 5 star and so is Carli Suspension.
What would have been a good test indicator on the amount of bounce/jolt encountered while going through the bumps is to temporarily tape a bottle of water on the center of the dash quarter filled with colored water. The severity of the bounce will be shown by how violent the water gets sloshed around the bottle. Not fully scientific but close enough for government work ;-)
If you guys could do a comparison video of this truck and a customers truck with n AEV lift, that would be amazing. Go over pros and cons, loaded and unloaded. Thanks for the videos, you guys are great.
I had terrible luck with the sway bar kits. First one was missing mounts and hardware so I got a second kit. The mounts were tight. Extremely tight. I tried dish soap on the bar first with no luck. Gave it a good coat of grease and still couldn't pound the bar through. If you run threaded rod into the bar, you can run it through a socket or washers and pipe. Spin on a nut then tighten it to push the mount on. No paint or metal damage plus it doesn't kill the bushing.
Great video. Nice to see the on-road comparison of ride before and after. I can't honestly say I could see a huge improvement in the sway, but I could definitely see some, even in the exterior shots. I have to say that this result is contrary to what I would expect. It would seem that stiffer spring rate should result in less roll rather than more. Perhaps the less stiff spring rate helps absorb more roll in the initial reaction to the uneven surface and not 'throw' the front to the opposite side, following the initial roll, as violently as the stock bar with the stiffer spring rate does.
Basically what's happening is a stiff sway bar doesn't allow the one side of the axle to travel up independently of the other. As a result, hitting a one sided bump pushes the suspension up, encounters the stiff sway bar, and then transfers that energy directly to the cab throwing you side to side. With a softer rate sway bar, that one sided hit pushes up, deflects the sway bar spring rate, and allows the suspension to move without the energy being transferred to the cab. The stiffer the bar, the more it transfers a one sided impact to the truck. Picking that perfect spring rate for the bar is a very delicate balance though since it can't be so soft that it allows the truck to wallow and lean on corners, which is where the truck body weight itself influences the suspension.
I guess I didn't realize the added benefit this piece provides to ride quality when I ordered my Carli back country kit the first go around. I'm giving you fine gentlemen a call in the a.m. and placing an order to add this super deluxe swaybar to the rig. Sadly as of the 2020 model year, the Olive Green paint and night edition are not something you can order together. We tried and tried! The up front cost of the night edition parts is around 3k, but keep in mind once you sell your stock parts, you’re only out whatever the difference is. In our case it only ended up costing a few hundred dollars in the end.

is there any situation where you could see running no sway bar? i haven't ran one on my 2006 ram2500 standard cab, 3 or 4 years ago/since i installed 3" Carli coils and some other things to make it work correctly, along with 35" tires. The Carli sway bar is essentially the best of both worlds. It flexes like no sway bar, but controls high speed body roll really well. For testing purposes we’ve run all of our shop trucks with no sway bar, but the Carli TSB just adds that little extra bit on confidence in high speed situations without taking away from the ride anywhere else.
You guys never talked about what engine modifications are on the truck? It definitely sounds like it has aftermarket exhaust so I'm guessing tuned as well?
It would lean to be sloppy steering on the street , the upgraded sway bar five guy a nice in between with the added benefit of gaining clearance for larger tires
Both brands actually use an identical spring rate for the center torsion bar, so ride in the cab is completely identical. Carli's sway bar does use higher quality steel, frame brackets, bushings and end links, but that also comes along with a higher price tag. If bang for your buck is the goal, go with the Thuren sway bar as it offers the same ride for less money. If you want the best possible materials and build, then go Carli as they do take the win in that category.

This may be a stupid question but ... can you put this sway bar on another lift kit ? So I guess what I’m trying to say is if I buy a BDS or any other lift can I put this on or can it only go if you buy the carli kit ?
I did not install a lift kit. I just installed 4” springs/shocks and new aftermarket control arms, track bar and Apex steering links. The Carli sway bar kit I purchased was for 0-3” lift. I assumed I could adjust the heim ends to make up the 1” difference.
The truck is gorgeous. I just can’t persuade myself to get a new diesel due to DEF and emissions and I’m afraid to delete as I daily drive hundreds of miles sometimes for my job. If someone can respond to sway me please do. Otherwise I’ll be looking for a 5.9L 3rd gen or maybe a young 4th gen with the non emissions 6.7L Cummins. At least then I will be able to afford a pintop system as the truck will be much cheaper than a 5th gen...your thoughts please.
These new 19+ trucks don’t have the issues that the older ones do. They get great fuel economy, and the emissions system is something you never have to think about until the DEF needs to be filled up. All of our trucks back to 2015 run factory emissions and they work great.
Randomchannel how do you reprogram the truck to know it no longer has the DEF component? I ended up getting a hemi btw I couldn’t find a 3rd gen 5.9L that was in great shape and a new diesel was just too expensive.
Sorry but when I think of sway bar, I'm interested in lane to lane changes at highway speeds. Does it dive in, does it resist. Also road ruts, does it fight itself. Bump steer when you hit obstacles at low speeds. Otherwise, trail riding is not my concern. Not being a troll, I'm really rooting for American made products that actually work. At 700 dollars, that's a investment for me, not a add on
This sway bar is a slightly lighter rate than factory so it's goal is to improve articulation, compliance, and comfort in the cab. This isn't a stiff sway bar that ruins ride in favor of completely stopping rocking, which is what you'll find from HD sway bars like hellwig etc. Ultimately they serve different purposes. If you want to carry an in bed camper, this isn't the sway bar for you, but if you want to improve ride, drive your truck like a sports car, and smooth out off road driving, this is the way to go. Hopefully that helps!
Just got 2020 ram 2500 cummings turbo desil regular cab beast. Call them winter truck package. Automatic i 8 foot box for the maverick. Way way to many crew cabs its unreal or any x stend cab.
Great video. Question, I have the Thuren 2.0 leveling system with track bar, Fox ATS steering damper, etc. I’m looking at adding the Thuren Sway bar over the Carli just bc it is in stock; do you get the same benefit with the Thuren sway bar as Carli?
Can you use the Thuren sway bar end-links? I have the torsion sway bar on my 2014 Ram 2500 and I used the thuren sway bar endlinks. They seem to be the same length as the carli's and I like Thuren's design better (greaseable links)
All depends on the camper! If it’s one of the smaller, pop up designs then you’re probably fine, but if it’s a large cab over design then you’ll want the factory sway bar.
@@CJCOffRoad I'm looking at buying a 2500-3000 pound camper in the future. But will only be taking it out once or twice a year (for one week trips). Would you still say I should avoid the sway bar? 2019 F350 (currently stock fx4 but will be Carli with bags sometime this year). Because I really want this sway bar haha
I'm just trying to gauge how flexible this thing really is. I don't run a large camper but I do have a bit of weight in the back and off-road quite a bit.
You’re totally fine running this! The ONLY situation where we don’t recommend a torsion sway bar is when people have massive in bed campers. For welding rigs, trucks that tow, or really anything else, this sway bar performs awesome.

How do these perform on the Ford Super Duty. I have a lifted 2018.
Awesome. Everything from this video applies to the Ford trucks too.
Can we install this on 2020 Ram 3500 Hemi?
Absolutely!
What height lift does this truck have
This truck is on a 3.25" Carli system.
Is the 4th gen 3500 SRW this stiff?
Yes Ram uses just as stiff of a factory sway bar on those trucks!
This may be a stupid question but ... can you put this sway bar on another lift kit ? So I guess what I’m trying to say is if I buy a BDS or any other lift can I put this on or can it only go if you buy the carli kit ?
If that kit uses the factory sway bar, then yep! Just put this in place of the factory bar.
CJC Off Road would it still work if the kit uses a drop bracket ?
Can this be used on Power Wagon 2500 trucks?
It can, but you give up the sway bar disconnect from the cab.
Damn that’s a good looking truck
Does the pulling and payload capacity stay stock with the basic carli leveling kit with a track bar, if I add the sway bar?
On a 2019 ram 2500?
My 3500 has a 4.5 lift leveling in the front. Do I adjust out the end links the extra 1” and locktite the nuts ??
Does your lift kit use sway bar drops longer end links currently?
I did not install a lift kit. I just installed 4” springs/shocks and new aftermarket control arms, track bar and Apex steering links.
The Carli sway bar kit I purchased was for 0-3” lift. I assumed I could adjust the heim ends to make up the 1” difference.

I would like to send my truck to you shop guys
Dude where did u buy that truck? Was it a special order to get it in that color?
Look at his previous videos.
Yep we have a whole series going about this build! Give it a watch!
Laramie Sport. Granite metallic. Is the model.. i ordered a laramie thinking it would be colormatched.. and it came with chrome bumper/grill.
CJC Off Road thank you for this response. If the def runs out while you’re on highway though would the truck shut down or do that 5mph crap?
I deleted mine at 5k miles. Youll have less problems with the truck getting rid of the DEF system
Randomchannel how do you reprogram the truck to know it no longer has the DEF component? I ended up getting a hemi btw I couldn’t find a 3rd gen 5.9L that was in great shape and a new diesel was just too expensive.
do you have an exhaust on the truck? did you delete all the stock emission stuff? i just bought a 2500 and am trying to figure out what i need to do.
There’s really no reason to delete these new trucks. Ours is totally stock and we plan to keep it that way!
@@CJCOffRoad thanks! I appreciate the respond. I just honestly want the deep exhaust sound. It’s a 2020 and it’s soooo quiet hahah
Any idea if Carli Pintop 3.25" will fit on a 2020 2500 with auto rear level?
It will not sadly. Those trucks are leveling kit only for now.
Is this your personal truck?
This is Cole’s personal truck. We’ve got a series of videos going that document the whole build on our channel!
Just got 2020 ram 2500 cummings turbo desil regular cab beast. Call them winter truck package. Automatic i
8 foot box for the maverick. Way way to many crew cabs its unreal or any x stend cab.
But what about in city?
It’s the same thing! Smoother in every situation.
In theory it should work but we haven’t ever tried to verify!
Concerns with hauling camper on 1 ton and loss of Stability
All depends on the camper! If it’s one of the smaller, pop up designs then you’re probably fine, but if it’s a large cab over design then you’ll want the factory sway bar.
@@CJCOffRoad I'm looking at buying a 2500-3000 pound camper in the future. But will only be taking it out once or twice a year (for one week trips). Would you still say I should avoid the sway bar? 2019 F350 (currently stock fx4 but will be Carli with bags sometime this year). Because I really want this sway bar haha
Why wouldn't this be advised with a camper?
Camper is top heavy and needs the factory stiff sway bar to keep the truck from swaying.
Exactly. Something like a GFC camper or a pop up will be fine, but if you have a big cab over camper you’ll want the factory sway bar.
I'm just trying to gauge how flexible this thing really is. I don't run a large camper but I do have a bit of weight in the back and off-road quite a bit.
Thanks for the video and content for the Ram 2500/3500. Just bought a Carli track bar from you after watching your vids👍
You’re totally fine running this! The ONLY situation where we don’t recommend a torsion sway bar is when people have massive in bed campers. For welding rigs, trucks that tow, or really anything else, this sway bar performs awesome.
